Online dating has been tragically amusing for me. Really, it's just stories to tell my friends. However, there is no right or wrong way to find someone. It's hard to make a connection with most people and that's why we should value the ones we do make.

It will come in time. The best advice I have ever gotten in regards to dating and SO seeking is: Stop. Just go live your life. Go find meet ups of things you enjoy doing. Go spend your time having a fulfilling life. The rest will filter in when it's time.

We'll just make you a board on 'Shout out' for the right person. Just go put your ad there. I mean what bad thing could happen?

I believe that people tell you who they are if you just listen. Their actions are more representative than their words. So it is always a bit sad when someone disappoints me IRL. I'm always stuck between 'why didn't I see this coming' and 'fuck them'. THEN ... because I'm a sucker. I find myself still being like, well if you apologize...

Ugh. Sometimes I am the thing that annoys me in RL.

THAT was mine too. Only I think it was warcraft? It wasn't in space but the same concept and I have HATED the game ever since. I wouldn't play WoW. I want nothing to do with civ games. I avoided co-op games.

I should play games with people. However the last time I tried it was at a LAN party (don't judge me I'm old). At this 'adventure' I may have been voted off the computer and asked nicely to make snacks because I sucked. This was by people that loved me, so I'm always afraid I'm just going to FUBAR playing with friends and ruin the game for them.

I have lived in many places in the US in my adult life. I have picked up most of them and use them a lot without thinking. This happens in my online speech patterns too. It's because I don't think of it like an affectionate love term. I just think of it as a term of speech.

I tend to use: hon, sugar, darling, honey, dear --- the most recurring.

As someone using the terms without being like, hey baby I think you are hot, but more a speech pattern. I have seen it cause issues and TRY hard not to use it. Sometimes it's hard to break our nature (maybe it's more our nurture?). I've had people think I was flirting with them, etc.

It also helps that most of my growing up/formative years were spent in the midwest. If you grew up there, you know the first thing you do is ask what's wrong. Then you ask what you can do. Then you follow up to make sure X person is okay. This also has been taken horribly, horribly wrong in the past few years.

TL;DR - Sometimes being truly a nice person IRL works really bad against you in online interactions.

Okay. I know I will have to turn in my geek card for this but.... I have never used Steam.

I decided that I have free time and I should do so. Also, I'm cheap. So are there any good games for free on there that you would recommend. I like all the things.

I was hanging at my friends house back in (muttermutter) when I was in High School. They had a friend over who I believe was Irish. He called me 'lassie'. I stopped what I was doing and stared at him. He smiled in that yeah-I-know-you-want-me way. My response? "Did you just call me a dog?"

Yeah, it takes a lot especially as staff to admit you may have messed up. I don't like that term, but I can't think of one I do like. Perhaps had a moment of 'not thinking'? So yay for sincere apologies. They are rarely truly made.

Moreover they are rarely made now days by staff. I wasn't a player or affected by this, but it is good to read.
