ANGEL'S LEGACY - FAE GAME BASED ON NALINI SINGH'S GUILDHUNTER SERIES

Welcome to Lewisville, Washington! A fictional city set in Mount St. Helens' shadow and up against the Lewis River. Seat of power of Marya, the Angel who rules over Washington for the Archangel Raphael. In this world angels, vampires, and humans live, work, play, and exist along side each other. Angels are the ultimate upper elite, while vampires may have adoring fan clubs and people flocking to join them in their beautiful eternity. All it takes is an accepted application to the Angels to become one of those gorgeous, favored, blood drinking immortals and of course 100 years of service. Not all vampires want to finish off this hundred years of service-- which is where the Guild comes in, manned by humans and those humans who are Hunterborn with the ability to scent and track vampires. The Guild hunts down vampires to bring them back to the angels or to justice if the vampires have started breaking human laws.

In Lewisville life is business as usual, except for the vampires who walk the streets and the angels flying the skies. Humans go about their daily lives, sometimes brushing up against the feathered elite or perhaps feeding a vampire. Hunterborn go on their hunts to track down vampires and return them, or stop their killing sprees. In the shadows, however, Marya is fighting a war against people attempting to encroach on her territory. As a young angel who took over territory earlier than she should have she is seen as weak. Her kindness and stubborn will not to be a tyrant or abuse those in her servitude may be seen as a blessing to vampires and humans but to other angels it makes her seem even weaker.

Will you be an Angel or a Vampire and will you join her ranks in loyalty and help her keep the city? Or will you see her weakness as an opportunity?

Will you be a Hunterborn dedicated to hunting down vampires because your abilities make normal life difficult?

Will you be a Gifted human, trying to survive the hardships of your psychic abilities?

Will you be a human brushing up against things larger than yourself?

      Join us today! angels.mechanipus.com 8000 / http://angels.mechanipus.com/wiki/Main_Page

      OPEN DATE 8.30.2016

We are open for apps, people making wikipages, and character ties, etc. Actual on-grid RP and staff plottage will start on August 30th, 2016

@Apos I also can 'hear' music in my head far more clearly than I can 'see' images. And yeah there are definitely degrees. I know my cabinets are a sort of orangish brownish color, but I couldn't describe the countertops if my life depended on it.

      T.H.I.S.

I don't see stuff in my head at all-- with the exception of when I do, it's usually when I don't have control of it: Such as dreams, or if I'm freaked out about something and having a PTSD episode or something.

But I have insane aural recall. Often, especially lately, I will wake up because some music I was listening to the night before, or someone in my apartment started playing while I was asleep, will just put itself on loop in my brain. Do you know how hard it is to go back to sleep when you have "Oh, she's cute but she's psycho, yeah a little bit psycho." stuck in your head?

    • What series are you reading?

So @EmmahSue got me hooked into the 'Jaran' series by Kate Elliot. It does have a bit of romancy thread to it but it's incidental to the story not the focus of it, and there are no written out sex scenes. It's an incredible series. It's sci-fi meets historical fiction. It's about a girl in a spacefaring society that ends up stranded on an interdicted planet, and has to find a way to reach her brother without alerting the locals that she's from off world.

There are four books in the series but it seems like 2 & 3 are actually the same book but for some reason got split up into two books. So really there's more like 3 books.

Anyone else reading anything really interesting that is a series of books? Either long or short?

      @admiral said in CoD/W:tF 2E?:

The Darkwater reboot has gotten off to a slow start, unfortunately.

I was pretty hyped to see it come back. Still, it's been fun.

This kind of post is not helpful. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and believe you actually did mean it as a call for more players. But you should have posted something along the lines of: "Man, I'm hyped for the reboot of Darkwater! More people come play with us!".

The past tense of "was hyped", coupled with "this is slow" is not helpful in anyway to the recruitment of players. It sends the idea that it's boring and there isn't anything to do.

Which might or might not be the case.

But, seriously, you can take a chill.

I just worked a 10hr day, came home and all but vegetated like an idiot and then even put in a little bit of time STing on the heels of a scene that @Insomnia ran as Tyla, because players did something spontaneously and I was around to answer 'what would happen if'.

I also gave both Puce and Neon some information and directions on part of the opening plot that they can easily take and run with, since my schedule is shitty and I'm not-- like I said both here and on the game --going to be around to ST 2-scenes a week like I did the last time the game ran.

    • Cobalt's Universal IC +Message System

Wherein I will begin to discuss and scratch out my universal +message system for IC messages.

Overview: An set of soft code for tinymux (I'd be down to talk/work with @faraday on how to make it portable to other codebases), that can handle IC messages between players. It will allow for a backlog of what messages have been received and viewing of those old messages. It will come with a default set of message types but be set up to easily allow for game owners to add others. It is meant to be light, easy to "install", and easy to use. Players shouldn't be required to do more than +email/+call/+text <name> to send a message.

Purpose: IC messaging between players that can be track separately from OOC messages.

      Theoretic Commands:

      • +email/+text: list your current last X messages (5-10 for ease not being spammy).

      • +email/+text #: View specified message.

      • +email/+text <person>=<message>: Send <person> an email/text with specified message.

      • +email/new and +text/new: Get first "new" email or text.

      • +email/delete and +text/delete #: Delete specified email or text. (Unsure if needed.)
The above commands would be the basis for any 'custom' messages-- a staff member could add +tinder for example, and they'd follow the same format from above.

      • +call[s]: List your current last X calls.

      • +call <person>: Call person. Their phone rings, possibly a message pops up in the room.

      • +call/answer: Answer incoming call.

      • +call/decline: Decline incoming call.

      • +call/end: End current call, done from either side.

      • +call <text>: Respond to current call. Possibly echo to the room what person is saying.
I am not 100% certain that I want to handle +Call in this manner, I may be overthinking +Call, and it could potentially just be like the above. And be quiet so other people don't see it. I'm debating immersion vs annoying to other people. I could add +Call/quiet so that someone can talk on the phone and not have it echo to the room, and +Call/silent, which sets their phone to 'silent' so only -they- get a message about their phone ringing.

      Codey Thoughts:

      • Set up central functions that can be called just by doing [u(fn.happyfunmessages, type)], where type is email, text, etc.
      • Store message types on a list: d.message_types: text|email|twitter|whatever. (I'm not soft coding twitter.)
      • Add softcode command that allows staff to add a new message type easily?
      • Figure out how to store the data on the messages going between players. Store on players? Or a central log object using theno's log code?

@skew i know you wanna hook it to SQL, if you wanna work together and you do the sql bit we could do that? 😛

    • RE: MUSH Marriages (IC)

Not quite a marriage but my long IC relationship was over a year OOC. It was also one of my favorites. Cytosine/Calla and Maclemus had such a story. Until he went mostly inactive.

Most of my IC relationships "end" because I retire/roster/flake out. Another one was on Star Trek Gamma One, where my betazoid ended up with an imzedi bond with a human. We had a long-term relationship that was so much fun, though I don't think they were married for very long-- because the game sort of dwindled out around their story got going.

I'm trying to think of other IC marriages.

The shortest would probably have been, originally, Tik and Ainsley's. Since we proc'd their marriage, and then like five minutes later I rostered? 😉

Of the top of my head, other than the time I app'd a married couple with my boyfriend on TR. Igor and Hedwig on HM ended up married in a sort of "we're married as much as it counts".

Oddly, most of my long term relationships that I've really enjoyed and stuck with have involved not much TS. Either because me and the other person are too busy doing other stuff, and assume it happens off screen, or because the other person prefers FTB. (I know this is not a conversation about TS, it was just a random aside.)

@sunny said in Let's talk about TS.:

The only thing I have to add that hasn't been covered here already is:

If I am on an actual game (and not goofing around on Shang), I want to be left out of it. I should be able to talk in terms of my PC and my character without ever bringing up what MY particular preferences/limits/etc. are. My kinks have no place (for me) in RP where I am playing a character and so on. When I say that I want to not talk about me or the person behind the other character (save to avoid things that might upset/trigger/whatnot the other person), that should be respected. Deal with it IC, play your PC, even in the bedroom. If your character whips out the chains, understand that REGARDLESS of what I might like, my character may very well flip the hell out. Just keep it IC. IC. IC. IC. IC.

This most I talk about the other -player's- preference at this point is language. I will tailor my language to the other player's language. But I have also asked other players when the clothing start coming off and it's clear actual sex is going to be written out: "What language are you comfortable with?"

I'll be flat out honest: I enjoy fluffy romantic RP, and I enjoy TS. I enjoy all levels of romantic RP, and pretty much all levels of TS. From scenes where one partner starts laughing mid-coitus and calls everything off b/c they're thinking about the last time they had a particular act happen to more intense obsession-fucks.

I am fine writing vague poses that describe things, that focus more on the emotional connection. I am also fine writing out all the details. But other people really don't like certain language, and don't like certain words even. (I'll admit there's some words where I am just like: "What are teenagers? Can we not.") . So I will sometimes ask: What level of detail, what language are you okay with?

Otherwise... Booooyyy, I do not wanna know about what the other players kinks are.

    • RE: Arx: @clues

@roz I don't remember exactly the cost when I was playing Clover but it was super low, somewhere between 1-3, I think.

However, there was a time when I was trying to bring someone in on a certain part of the metaplot, and that person started lecturing Clover on it and insisting that he had found an important artifact (looking at the object it was pretty clear it wasn't a staff made object, and we already knew where that artifact should be so he couldn't have gotten it) and no amount of IC or OOC saying "hey I really don't think that's what you think it is" would steer him from his belief-- unsurprising since he went on to get killed for his wildly off base theories and the way he treated other players.

During one of the conversations after I had decided not to just info dump and instead try hard to steer him back onto the correct course, he started OOCly lecturing me to put certain clues I had shared with him onto the Faith of the Pantheon @org. And how it was so much more cost effective AP wise if I would just put my clues onto the orgs. Which was factually wrong because it cost me tiny amounts of AP (though I still had little because my AP would go into @investigates each week) to share vs somewhere between 12-15 to put it onto an org and then brief someone if they didn't have the AP to do the briefing themselves.

It might just be that I'm on my fifth character now, but I'm way less enamored with @clues than when I first started playing the game. I'm more interested in clues for things that my characters are actively interested in, or in doing @actions, than the clues themselves.

I think I'm expressing that wrong-- I still love the lore and how creative all the staff are and how they seem to just infinitely be able to pop out little vignettes of lore via the clues. But I'm less interested in trying to hoard the entirety of it, and instead rather focus on things that are plots my characters are actively pursuing.

@Sparks Gave me one of the most chilling clues in the game (imho) but it's only so chilling because of the context that comes with that clue. It's akin to real world when you find out why the story behind "Ring Around the Rosie".

    • RE: Getting Young Blood Into MU*'ing

@Thenomain said in Getting Young Blood Into MU*'ing:

99% of the players respected all of this. At least in public. Sometimes they were disrespectful of staff, but since @Cobaltasaurus is nicer than she needs to be, almost nobody got thrown off the game for it.

I mean, I did lose my shit on Circe@HM's player once (I can't remember her MSB name), for being kinda shitty to staff. I believe my words were "if you ever treat my staff like that again, you're gone".

But mostly I let @Tributary handle banning b/c she was far more impartial and fair, than I. So we only banned people for being a true bother to the game, or staff. I think... we once asked someone to leave because they were taking up like 98% of my time?

      But Darkwater's main rule was:

If it becomes a problem, it will be dealt with when it comes up.

We didn't have extensive policies other than that. Then we eventually added an "expected behavior" or something other soft policy, that included rules on how to behave in public. It was things like "don't huggle-snuggle people on public channel, unless you know they want it. respect people's OOC physical boundaries" and then we had a policy on "no rape RP in public spaces, or pushed onto other players b/c no one wants to deal with it but you" (phrased nicer, mind).
