• RE: Darkwater: The Return

Okay:

I was basically going to fast forward through the waves of birds, and have the big bad show up as a giant FUCK YOU BIRD just as the ritual finished, but instead of having the NPCs all do smash-big attacks...

They were basically going to merge into you guys, giving you the power they had just gathered. And you were all going to get the equiv of wyrd:10 for the end of the scene and elemental attacks and get to go to town on Kahu to take him out.

And get all your memories back after you finished off Kahu.

• RE: Development Thread: Sacred Seed

I did some work this morning on the courts, but ran a little out of steam and didn't want to force it, because I want each of the courts to seem interesting.

Overview & History
Cloria is ruled by the Council of Courts, the numbers of which have fluctuated over time. Typically, the Council holds no more than five seats. However, there is a distant and dark time spoken of in Cloria's history where there were a full ten seats and ten separate courts. Historians write that this time was one of chaos and anarchy, where disputes on jurisdiction and land happened often. They say that the far too numerous numbers of Courts is what caused the [[The Great War of Courts]].

Since the end of that war there have been no more than five Great Courts. Another dark time spoken of in the history of Cloria is the time when there were only two great courts. When rebellion and turmoil boiled up because many members of the Seeded felt that they were not represented. Violent revolts ended up with the founding of at least one of the current great Courts.

The Council of Courts rule the Kingdom together, and anything that would affect the entirety of the Kingdom they all have equal say in. Thus having an odd number of Courts is typically seem as stabilizing for the Kingdom for that means there will be no ties. However, each of the Courts has their own demesne within the Kingdom where they rule in absolute-- save for those few laws that are universal.

In the Demesne of Blaze, the southwestern most territory, it is considered illegal to enter a shop while having no intent to make a purchase. A small fine is usually leveled if anyone can be bothered to prosecute. In the Demesne of the Glacier, the most northern territory, one may window shop and browse all they please, but on the other hand shopkeepers are not allowed to turn anyone out of their shop simply because of their appearance-- discrimination against the poor is illegal. While theft is illegal within the entirety of the Kingdom-- though in the different domains the punishment for theft may be very different.

Court of the Blaze (Fire/Air)
Ruler: Sera Agatta Embers, Queen of the Blaze
Second: Elijah Whitten-Embers, Consort of the Blaze
Domain: Demesne of the Blaze, southwestern territory of Cloria.
Climate: Humid, hot, tropical.
Trade Goods: Citrus (orange, lemon, lime), grain (corn, wheat), livestock (cow, chickens, horses).

The Court of the Blaze is one of the oldest currently serving Courts, having been established some four hundred years ago. The Williams family has been the ruling family for three quarters of that time, when [[Sera Agatta Embers]] and [[Amos Emberborn-Frost]]'s great, great, great, etc grandmother challenged the then King of the Blaze in the sacred Rite of Cultivation. It is said that Queen Agatta Embers burnt the old King, whose name has been lost to time, to nothing but ash a bit of bone. No one challenged the Williams nor her daughter. Over the years people have gotten bold, but all have failed.

Elijah Whitten-Embers is from a family as old as the Williams, and some would say he is just as strong as the Queen. So there was worry (and excitement) when he challenged Sera to the Rite of Cultivation. Only they fell into Symbiosis during their fight and created a fire storm that burnt down the Coliseum, and leading to the interruption of the fight and Sera taking [[Elijah Whitten-Embers]] as her husband and Consort.

Court of the Glacier (Water/Earth)
Ruler: Amos Emberborn-Frost, King of the Glacier.
Second: ???
Domain: Demesne of the Glacier, further north territory of Cloria.
Climate: Cold, dark, snow most of the year.
Trade Goods: Potatoes, livestock (Elk, sheep), timber, and ore.

The Court of the Glacier is the youngest of the five Courts, having been established only within the last hundred years. And in that time no royal family has had a chance to be established. Only one ruling King has managed to die of old age and pass the throne onto his daughter. Only to have her challenged and disgraced by [[Amos Emberborn-Frost]] ten years ago. After his sister inherited the throne from their father, he made his move upon the Court of the Glacier, winning the Rite of Cultivation and banishing Queen Emilie Frost from the kingdom.

Amos has faced at least three challenges in the past year, and has defeated them all. But the last one was very close, and it is believed he almost lost. So there are many within the court who think they can defeat him... and many who are resentful that an Emberborn is ruling the Court of the Glacier. He isn't Earthborn or Waterborn and it's an insult... Even if he is Ice-Seeded and one of the strongest Ice-Seeded they've ever seen.

Court of the Mountain (Earth/Air)
Ruler: Sascha Hillside, Monarch of the Mountain
Second: ???
Domain: The Mountain Runs, middle territory of Cloria.
Climate: Cold, mountainy.
Trade Goods: Ore, stone, timber, live stock (sheep, goat, and chicken).

The Court of the Mountain is said to be the oldest Court within the Council of Courts. It has also been the most sable of courts, even more so than the Blaze. For the Stone family have been ruling its court since it's inception shortly after the end of [[The Great War of Courts]], and it is said that it persisted during [[The Lean Era of Unrest]] where there was only one other Court. The Stone family is an old, old dynasty. The throne has been past from family to family for as long as anyone can remember at this point. Only once or twice has it not gone to a direct child, but even then it has gone to a cousin or an uncle with children. The Hillside Throne has been in the Stone family for a long time.

Save Sascha Hillside has no children, and a distinct lack of relatives who aren't elderly.

Court of Basalt (Earth/Fire)
Ruler: Mielle Sands, Empress of Basalt
Second: ???
Domain: Isles of Basalt, a large chain stretching from the west to south coasts.
Climate: Temperate to tropical.
Trade Goods: Fish, volcanic glass, glass, sand, and tropical fruits (pineapple, papaya, mango, etc).

Cobalt will think of something interesting about the Court of Basalt here. Surely.

Court of Storms (Air/Water)
Ruler: Tristan Storm, Sovereign of Storms
Second: ????
Domain: Forest of Storms, south eastern territory of Cloria.
Climate: Temperate, wet.
Trade Goods: Lumber, livestock (cows, sheep, ox, pigs), fish (cold water), and vegetables.

Something interesting about the history of the Court of Storms here.

I just want to sleep like a normal person... Not like two nights of 15 +hrs, and then two nights of 3hrs. Just... like a normal person. quietly weeps into hands

ETA: Although, this does mean there was finally a week where I didn't work overtime (except for like an hour maybe), so I was actually able to oversleep on my days off (which I only got b/c I was too sick to actually work an extra day when asked). But next week I'll be back up to like 50hrs. Why? Because I'm the idiot that was like: Sure boss man, no one else is stepping up so I'll go close the dumpster fire of a store that has all of like two staffers next week.

@bobotron I'm not sure I'd go that far for an original fantasy game. I can make allowances, yeah, for when someone tries to whitewash a POC character, but I don't think a person taking a roster character needs to be 100% faithful to authorial intent... and expecting it of people is going to lead to heart break.

• Seeking Partner for Gray Harbor Concept

Ok, well this is a shout in the dark so I'll shout in the dark, this is a silly idea and feel free to mock for it.

On Gray Harbor there is a plot thread were people have lost 12-weeks worth of time. They suddenly found themselves shunted into the future. I'd like to take advantage of that and have an idea for a paired concept (does not need to stay that way).

Two people wake up 12-weeks in their "future" suddenly engaged to each other with no idea how, when, or why this happened. They may not have even known each other before, or maybe they knew each other but hated one another. They could immediately call it quits because /WTF/ but <insert reason this isn't currently feasible here-- maybe various parents would be heart broken, maybe they have some sort of business contract, maybe they're local starlets and if they call it quits it'll endanger their credibility, etc>.

I'll be playing a female character, and have literally no preference on gender of the other character. These characters not need to stay engaged forever and ever, maybe the first thing they do is figure out how to gracefully become unengaged. Maybe they decide to go through with it. idc.

I will note, however, I am 100% more interested in the comedy and potential relationship building (foes to lovers is fun) than I am in any sort of TS. I don't have anything against TS but I don't do it very often these days so if that's your main interest this is not the concept for you.

ETA: Legit, for real, I can come up with concepts to play but the idea of putting those concepts into stats on any game has been giving me anxiety for like two months now. Couldn't tell you why.

Someone wanna do the chargen bit for a PC for me? I'll play literally whatever you want if you make the PC and then give the pword.

I 100% do not care if there are five Scarlet Johansons or twenty Adelaide Kanes or fifteen Jensen Ackles or thirty Chris Pines running around. Whatever.

I've even in the past made it a thing with PCs when they end up picking PBs that I was using for NPCs. @Tempest had a mortal character on, Darkwater GMC, that used Eva Green who I was using for the Autumn Queen. We made it a thing, and everyone thought her PC was the Autumn Queen's Fetch.

• Self Promotion: Cobalt Does Horror

So, I'm doing a thing. A writing thing. I've set up a patreon account where I will be writing a horror story in serial format to eventually be edited, fine-tuned, and packaged up for publication. If you would like to support me please feel to follow the link! If you can't be a patreon patron, I'd also really love it if you could share my page around.

The first two (or three) entries in the story will be free to the public, and then everything after that will be patron only (but available at every level, so you can pledge $1 and get access!).

https://www.patreon.com/user?u=22790937

ETA: Also note it is set as adult-only because the nature of the horror story will include dangerous situation and some body horror. But there is very unlikely to be any smut in these stories.

• Welcome to the Euphoria - Alpha

It's scrawled across the front of your pod when you open your eyes. Done in neon bright yellow and outlined in orange. It should be cheery but there's something a little unnerving about it. Still it gives you something to focus on. Welcome to The Euphoria. The timeless darkness of before is shredded by those words. You hear them now, too. A bright, chipper-- mechanical ---voice comes through the coms in your pod, "Welcome to the United Planetary Ship Euphoria, Crewmember!"

You roll your eyes up toward the source of the voice, and try to turn your head but you can't move. You try to flex your fingers, and toes, but neither obey your commands. Your heart starts to race, your pulse starts to quicken. You can feel it thumbing away in your throat underneath your chin. But that chipper, mechanized voice comes from above again, "Oh, no, calm down Crewmember! You'll be released in just a moment! You will feel a warmth in three... two.... one!"

• City of Angels MUX (CofD/nWoD 2E)

I'm just going to keep making threads because, whatever.

I'm bad at keeping secrets and ran out of people to ask on the downlow, so just going to ask here.

City of Angels MUX, is going to be a Chronicles of Darkness/nWoD 2E multisphere game (Werewolf, vampire, mage, and mortal(+)), set in Los Angeles, CA. (We're original in our name! :D). I'm looking for folks who are interested in helping contribute to make this thing happen.

Here's what I have:

• Code (I don't really need help here, I have myself and @Thenomain and probably @skew since he's been a nosey parker so now he gets to help).
• Grid/+Map (I have a map/grid, which I am slowly digging out).
• Werewolf Lead.
• Vampire Lead (probably).

Here's what I need:

• Help @desc'ing Los Angeles/the grid (if you just pull information off of wikipedia and stick it in the grid square, i'm happy, okay?)
• Mage Lead
• Mortal(+) Lead
• Potentially wiki help

Some design things:

• We'll be going with the Greater Downtown and South Central areas, with the possibility of Santa Monica later OR if someone really wants to desc Santa Monica.
• We'll not have an over-all-gamewide metaplot.
• Each sphere will have its own plot arch designed to last 3-6months (generally speaking).
• I dunno. Other things.
