I think I may pass on my baker with a foodie mage concept already in place. (Not a big deal, there are so many ideas floating around in my brain)

I'm rolling around the notion of a vet who helps people's familiars; she has a local practice but maybe also does volunteer work with wildlife.

My concern with this concept is that I imagine lots of people can heal the physical bodies that house their familiar spirits, so do they really need a vet?

I've decided it's my mission to try and find someone who knows how to work with wikidot code, to make ours nice and shiny.

How about Tribe 8. I think there was even a MU for 5 minutes.

Groups of people worshipping giant living constructs that gave them woohoo powers and fighting interdimensional aliens that were vaguely Cthulhu-ish in post-Apocalyptic Montreal.

@Arkandel The Arbores could use more people. They're basically a family of Da Vincis.

@tat Thank you! She won't be a ranger per se, but she apparently can work for the Ranger Service as a wildlife vet: https://www.nps.gov/nature/careers-kevin.htm

(he's a wildlife vet. I'm not just randomly linking to some dude named Kevin.)

They made the very wise decision to allow people to soft RP while they're waiting, which let me tell you, allievates a great deal of the anticipation/anxiety that comes along with waiting longer than expected for an approval. I don't know if they planned it, or if it just sort of evolved that way, but it's pretty awesome.

I'll be honest, I have really mixed feelings about the current system involving paying for investigation efforts with Luck Points. They're a limited pool for things you should be able to quite reasonably do, and having utilized the mechanic when prompted, my result didn't seem like it merited the effort to spend it - which was basically "all of your research comes up with nothing, but you did notice someone else looking into it". That was excellent for giving me a hook into RP with other people, but I just feel like the notion of something with such a nebulous pay-off should not require use of a resource pool that can diminish.

I'm also willing to have it explained to me more thoroughly. I'm not looking to attack anybody, I'm just here to have a good time.

@kanye-qwest I guess I'm so accustomed to thinking of San Francisco as a "progressive" city, which is why it didn't really align for me.

Cis female, more or less straight. I do stick to playing females exclusively, and most of my characters these days lean toward...bisexual, I guess? It's men in general, or specific women in particular as opposed to categorically women.

I wish there was a word for that kind of 90%/%10 variable beyond "bisexual". Someone once described my character from Darkwater as queer, but I didn't really feel right giving her that label because of the 90/10 (well, maybe a little more 75/25 for her in particular) but with a general preference to engage in hetero relationships, it seemed false to claim queerness.

I'm looking at making a motley of Lost who are part of the Italian Renaissance Festival held at the Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. Entertainers, artisans, chefs, psychics, tour guides, gardeners, anything along those lines could fit in. In RL present day the festival is no longer held and is only annual, but in pretend fun time Miami, this could be quite different. I've always thought this Ren Faire subculture would be an excellent place for Lost. PM If you're interested.

@Wizz The issues with the gelfling puppets and their stiff faces is something that the creators specifically address for the production. There's a "Making of" documentary on Netflix (you can either watch all 10 episodes and the the documentary, or skip ahead to the end of the episode list to access it) and they talk about how those problems with the Gelflings were the particular bee in Henson's bonnet, and how they move forward specifically addressing that problem.

    • RE: Sexuality: IC and OOC

So my notion is, if you are self-assessing your capacity to portray another gender or sexual orientation, if you decide that you don't think you can do so because you genuinely don't feel you can grasp the nature of that gender/orientation and you would come off as a caricature (which for obvious reasons you wouldn't want to do), does that make you mindful of your own limitations, or limiting yourself in an unnecessary fashion?

Should people who feel like they can only meander down one of these particular paths have to feel like they should be embarrassed or ashamed about it?

(FTR, I'm not accusing anyone of shaming or embarrassing anyone else, but I do feel like there's a tone here from people who pursue certain singular characteristics like they could somehow do better, myself included.)
