Marco Polo season 2, y'all. I binged and watched it all in two days. Not historically accurate by a longshot, but well acted, beautifully choreographed fight scenes, amazing costumes, etc.

RE: RL Anger
Dear asshole co-worker,
The very least you could do when I am pulled off my job so that you can take a 15 minute break from the reception desk is say "thank you". And when you decide at the ass end of your break to strike up a conversation with the HR rep and thus wind up with a 20 minute break - right in front of me where I can see you - is apologize. I realize you want to focus on work and not excessively socialize, but some common fucking courtesy is in order.

I was brought up to believe that the Christmas season was not officially starting until Santa's sled appeared in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

RE: RL Anger
Dear dick neighbors,
It is not July 4th. It is not New Year's Eve.
Why the fuck are you setting off fireworks and turning my dog into a shaking, drooling, whining emotional wreck?
If I had been there (I got texted by my roommate, fortunately I'd already given my dog a chill pill) I would have called the cops.
Fuck you,
Me. -
RE: RL Anger
@Arkandel: I'm not going to lie, my dog has bitten another dog. He's got a high prey drive and little fluffbutts look like the rabbits he was trained to chase on the track. But I took responsibility for it, apologized to the owner, made sure they had my contact info, and paid all the related vet bills - in fact, I'm still paying for them. But the fact that I owned up and took responsibility for my dog made the other dog's owner much more willing to work with me, and has been very kind about when I have needed to make a smaller payment due to financial needs.
If you're not willing to take responsibility for your dog's bad behavior, you shouldn't have a dog.

RE: RL things I love
I amongst many others am a great lover of Hamilton, to the point of which I am attending a Hamiltunes event a week from this Friday - it's basically a gathering of a bunch of people to sing along with the soundtrack. This is an exciting prospect though apparently I was insane enough to sign up for a couple of the lead voice solos and now I am sort of rocking back and forth chanting "oh god what did I just do" in the back of my head. I love singing, but I'm extremely critical of my own voice, add to that age and lack of practice making the instrument quite rusty.

That's the plan!
Lafayette in "Aaron Burr, Sir"
Hamilton in "Right Hand Man"
Lafayette in "Battle of Yorktown"
Mariah Reynolds in "Say No To This".Over-achiever or deluded fool, maybe both.

Justin Trudeau is pretty cool, but this guy is the shit.
You have no idea how jealous I am that you guys get Justin Trudeau and we get what we've got. Karma, one supposes.

RE: Mundane Super Powers
I look amazing in hats.
Like, any hat.
Including sombreros, fezes, and those baseball hats with beer can holders on either side of the cap. There is a 90% chance that I can walk into a room where a tv is on and guess what's playing within 3-5 seconds - even if I've never seen it before. This is also tied into the fact that I am a walking IMDB.
My parking karma is also strong.

RE: Good TV
@Wizz I absolutely love The Librarians. I want to be Cassandra Cillian when I grow up. Less the brain grape.

RE: Good TV
Admittedly, junk food is not the descriptor for episodes like "...and the Heart of Darkness", but more or less, it is what it is. Or perhaps fair to say, individual performances in the show can actually be pretty hefty.

Oh my stars and garters, they are making a film version of Margaret Mahy's The Changeover FINALLY!
Cast includes Timothy Spall, Lucy Lawless, and Charlie Heaton amongst others. Stranger Things fans, take note, that last one is Jonathon's actor. (who I suspect will be playing Sorry for those in the know.)

RE: Tulpas or Roleplaying?
Every now and again when discussing my characters with someone, I find myself slipping into first person. When I realize what I'm doing, I try to halt it immediately - I just feel it's embarrassing and the person's going to think I don't have a grasp on reality. So I try to make sure I focus on remaining third person when discussing my characters.

RE: RL Anger
I'm not precisely angry about this, but I don't love it either, more ironically amused.
At the start of the debate last night as each candidate was making their opening remarks, my dog went insane. Sure, he gets the zoomies sometimes and these bursts of energy, but I've never seen him go on for so long about it as he ran around and darted his head this way and that and even barked a couple of times (my dog's breed are not frequent barkers) and it was like he was possessed. He settled down eventually, but the timing was peculiar.
I need an old rabbi and a young rabbi.

RE: RL Anger
Okay, so. Two of my co-workers who work in the same department as me got married. They invited most of the department, but there was a small handful of people who were not invited, including me.
Logical Me understands a lot of things, like they probably had a limited amount of space for people, that while I amiably chat with the bride on a number of occasions we're not exactly lunch buddies, that they may have elected to only include the people in the department that they considered within their close circle of friends.
Emotional Me is having a flashback to being a ten year old kid who had nobody show up to her birthday party, and the quiet, nasty voice murmuring in my head that nobody at my workplace actually likes me, that they think I'm weird, etc. I can't say I know it isn't true, but at least I know enough to know that it's just fear/shame/doubt talking and not actually me, if that makes any sense at all.
It's still hard, though. I don't want irrational emotions to color my behavior around the newlyweds. I mean, I'm not Maleficent, FFS. (Although wouldn't that be totally cool?) Still, I'm struggling with how to process the feeling without succumbing to it.

Today is the 3rd year anniversary of my employment at this company. They give out number balloons on your employment anniversary, but I've never gotten one. I feel completely childish for feeling fussy about this, but dammit, I WANT MY BALLOON and some acknowledgement of my efforts.

@Lisse24: Clarification, when you say you and your sister lean pro-life yourselves, do you mean with sole regard to your own bodies, or with regard to what other women are allowed?
Edited to add: I'm not looking to pick a fight in either direction, I just want to understand your personal stance.
