@Ghost It's an app on my tv, and because I already pay for HBO on my regular cable, I didn't have to pay an additional fees. I use the app on my phone as well.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
@saosmash said in Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning:
Technically I think the bi erasure came after the duel was already happening. To be fair.
I am compelled to disagree. @Shayd put forth the idea that it was an "either men or women" idea to begin with, and then implied that being attracted to both men and women naturally alludes to polygamy/polyamory. (All ICly, to be clear.)
While this is wholly pondering on my part, I suspect that had his character expressed interest in multiple people as lovers no one would say boo, because having multiple lovers is not anathema. But there IS a very particular cultural opinion about marriage and the oath involved and that is where the kerfluffle began. It proceeded to degrade from there.
With that in mind, I also want to point out that @Shayd ICly apologized an dueled and was beaten, and was reasonably gracious about it.
PS - @Roz any time Aleksei wants to be Sam's cabana boy/palm leaf fanner/alternate dinner date. I'M NOT SAYING, I'M JUST SAYING.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Arkandel I have purchased a little 3D frame thing that you can wear under your mask to insure non-fogginess as well as making sure you feel like you can breathe freely. Once it comes in the mail, will report.

RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning
I've observed that the institution of thralldom is one that pretty much all of the other sub-kingdoms of the Compact find anathema, and that most likely it has been an institution long overlooked for the necessity of political and martial advantage.
Vocally speaking out against thralldom has not been something many people want to risk doing until recently, and even more recently there may be greater legitimization for ending the institution sooner rather than later, which would more or less fuck Thrax up. Even my radically liberal character doesn't want to see Thrax destroyed for doing what she believes to be the righteous thing.
(God, if we had PvP I suspect Thrax would have had her murdered months ago!)

RE: RL things I love
I was today years old when I found out that Batman is Jewish and it's canon.

RE: Where's your RP at?
While watching it the other night, it occurred to me that as a dystopian setting, Into the Badlands might be pretty perfect as a MUSH.

RE: Cupcake's Playlist
@DownWithOPP I'm kind of over-saturated with BSG right now, but maybe if I get the urge again. Not sure I'd play LipWobble though, she's very entranched in a specific game 'verse. But it's nice to know people recognize the Importance Of ECO's! Love your ECOs, kids. They keep you alive.

RE: Critters!
@Packrat How do you spend all of your time not kissing that boop of a nose?

RE: What do you WANT to play most?
@Ghost Don't forget tutting. Tutting is awesome.

A friend of mine wrote this; I am extremely proud of him. There's a movement growing within the American Jewish community and I hope it gets big.

Also, like, just make up plastic block toys that aren't called Legos?
Which I think is a completely reasonable way to approach it, but yeah, 'brand names' wouldn't be a thing.
There was similar frustration when The Drift was up and running, with folks (one of whom I'm certain was Leggo Chick) not just having not seen the film but actively refusing to do so, wanting to play Jaeger pilots. It's not even being asked to watch the entire series of BSG for theme relevance, it's 90 minutes of a movie. And an actually good one, at that!

Rewatches
I'm rewatching a lot of old scifi and fantasy series via Netflix and Hulu.
Presently I'm halfway through Highlander The Series season 2, and I'm delighting in how terrible it is. I remember when it was one of my favorite programs, and now a lot of it makes me groan and roll my eyes.
A lot of the early season acting is just terrible, the incidental music is highly melodramatic, there are plotholes a mile wide, and do not get me started on the preachy episodes that involve how Duncan MacLeod is the awesome white savior. Amanda and Methos are the cowbell of the show, and I'm really, really glad Tess is dead.
I mean, I have a little more respect for this time around, but she's super shrill and constantly complaining and spends too much time being Duncan's morality pet. I do give her credit for threatening a female immortal with a facial...using her artist's flamethrower thingy. In general, the sexism and racism just make me shake my head so, so much. Oh, how naïve we all were! </bitestongue>
Anybody else doing lots of rewatches? Comparing stuff from "then" to how we view it "now"?

RE: Course Corrections
As a side note, I want to remark that I've since encountered Lego Lass on a couple of games, and she seems to have calmed down and has been pretty chill. Of course, we also haven't been on any IP themed games, so if it comes up again, we'll have to see.
In the meantime, I go back to trying to explain to someone as gently as possible that on L&L games, marriages are often business arrangements. Yes, even if you love your intended.

RE: Good TV
@derp I feel you on that. I actually do experience some cognitive dissonance watching him play this open, loving person vs....well, Derek the Hot Werewolf.

RE: Rewatches
@Three-Eyed-Crow I was literally just thinking of Queen of Swords and wishing I could find it somewhere. And of course, Peter Wingfield bridges shows marvelously.
