@Ghost Two posts is not a discussion, and your reply came hastily after two other people swung in and told you that what you said was upsetting and offensive.

She's not fabricating a spat. I have seen you frame things in such a way as to imply that others (read: Me) are being completely unreasonable and YOU are the rational one before you walk away. And at that point, anything that could be said has been effectively neutralized, because it's now framed in the idea that further pursuit of the topic makes the person you're talking about full of the cray. It's been this way for months, and the frequency with which you respond to my post with a negative angle and/or upvote posts that focus on attacking me haven't escaped notice either.

With regard to apologies, there's a whole thread dedicated to the structure of a sincere apology. @reimesu is correct, one of the criteria for apologies includes not using the word if.

Believe it or not, I am genuinely not interested in fighting with you. But I've also bitten my tongue on this repeated pattern of behavior and I'm at the point where it's either address it or let it fester. So please. If I bother you so much, if you think I'm right up there with VASpider or whatever it is you think...just leave me alone, I'll leave you alone, and everything will be swell.

So someone - a woman - on my Facebook posted this video of a woman being held down in a chair by a handful of men while they rubbed her lips with lime and then force-fed her a shot of tequila. According to my friend this "how the family plays" and that it was because she'd agreed to do the shot but then backed out.

She could not understand why I had such a horrified and angry reaction to the video.

      ...was it expensive tequila?

I'm glad you can find the humor in women being physically assaulted! There's not enough of that kind of humor these days.

Edited to add: This wasn't some cutesie college game thing. These man were holding her down and prying her mouth open with their fingers. She was not enjoying herself by any stretch of the imagination.

@Thenomain said in What even is 'Metaplot'?:

Korra I don't think has a global metaplot. It has some smaller ones, such as Asami Sato's struggling with her father and inheriting a large corporation, but IMO that's the metaplot of the "and then this happens, solve it" variety. A character arc.

I think that would be the resolution of the alignment of the spirit and physical worlds, as well as the power dynamic of benders vs. non-benders.

@Meg That's pretty fucking appalling. Does your provider have a nurse consulting service? It's possible if you call them and can convince them that you have a critical need, they'll be able to advocate for you to an in-network person, or look into getting you some kind of waiver to go out of network.

@Meg, do you have access to healthcare? If so, I would strongly encourage you to make an appointment with a therapist or psychiatrist. Most places will send you to a therapist first, and then to a psychiatrist if it's determined that you need medication.

Edited to add: I am not an expert, but everything you've listed definitely hits the bullet points for signs of depression. If you don't have health insurance, I'd be happy to help you try and find something low cost or free in your area. This kind of pain isn't something you should have to live with.

      Hey co-worker,

I like you. I actually do. And I get that at times when you have a carpool parking pass and your carpool buddies take alternate routes of transportation, you get to enjoy a little tee-hee of delight because you get to still park in the super sweet carpool parking spots.

But I see you, day after day, parking not just in the carpool section, but in THE BEST SPOT. And you never, ever have someone with you in the car.

I can even get behind being sneaky about the carpool section and not actually having a carpool (I suspect you're listed as carpooling with your supervisor mom) but taking the best spot when you don't even actually carpool? Is just a jerk-ass move. And it's worse because you are otherwise a nice guy. (Who has worked here half as long but still got promoted over me, but that's another bit of bitchery.)

I gleefully enjoyed hating on the entire run of NBC's terrible version of 'Dracula' a couple years ago), then a show I was enjoying parts of despite the stupidity, and then a show I was just outright enjoying as it embraced its stupidity.

I remember that show! Katie McGrath (SHE IS SO PRETTY) and Nonso Anozie were in it (Anozie, imo, is the new Pete Postelthwaite.)

@SG I always had to be the...Sorceress? Enchantress? I forget, whenever I played Talisman in my younger days.

When Battlestar Orion had their big meetup a couple of years ago, we modified the Werewolves and Villagers game into Cylons and Colonials.

@ThatGuyThere When I was in high school I was part of a little group that played Axis and Allies at least once a week. We always played the same countries, and when we were playing, we would sort of...roleplay the countries, with accents and affectations like we were in some kind of weird Hetalia LARP.

I was always Holy Mother Russia.

It's really hard to narrow down a singular favorite. Generally I prefer co-op games (love love love Pandemic) and I used to just utterly hate screw-your-buddy games, but in more recent years I've realized it's not the games, it's the people. The people I learned to play Munchkin with were dicks. My boardgame group in more recent years is a much more fun, mature bunch.

I have a certain fondness for Dixit because I love games that require "thinking outside the box". I mentioned co-ops and Pandemic is my go-to for that. Takaido has some of the most beautiful art.

Having recently played Bears vs. Babies, I can attest to it being hella fun.

The fact that I am undefeated in my group at Cards Against Humanity has nothing to do with anything, as I have since retired. Too much of a good/awful thing.

I live in a house with other women and a 16 year old boy, and whenever somebody needs to do something like move furniture or open a jar, the call out is: "Let's get down to business to defeat the Huns!"

This is relevant, though it may take some figuring out.

@Chet There was once a Pacific Rim game, but it fell off because there were players who wanted to be Jaeger pilots while refusing to watch the source material. And playing drift compatability can be challenging.

@Arkandel Nice, but all female characters have an expiration date. It's just a bunch of hunky dudes and women who get too close to them and burn up, like Icarus and the sun.
