RE: The limits of IC/OOC responsibility
@arkandel - The way we handle it in Arx is Voices/2nds in command, who act with the voice of the faction leader. Spread the love and share the burdens, because it shouldn't and can't always be THAT ONE GUY who stands AT THE NEXUS OF ALL DECISIONS. It's not feasible IRL, and it's certainly not feasible in a game.
I think the responsibility if you have someone dependent directly upon you for their arc is a scene once a week. I also think you should never be in a position where more than 3-4 people are directly dependent upon you for their entire arc, esp. when they're different arcs. At that point, then more people need to be involved organizationally.

Calm down, brain. Seriously. I get that you want to think about all the things all at once. But it's making everyone around you tired all over. CALM. DOWN.

@packrat I am so sorry for your heartbreak this morning.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Auspice Your other option is to post openly about the behaviors you survived and got away from. Maybe say you were inspired by your friend's struggle (hers) and how well she's doing - how strong she is for getting out of that situation, and you draw a lot of parallels. Talk openly about the behaviors of your ex, and how it started. Because it's never right at first, it's the sympathy and empathy and false, manipulative bullshit that start so easily and turn into that.
And how you're never going back, and you're proud of her for making that break. Sometimes our friends don't need us to tell them what not to do, they need us to tell them what they've done right. And how proud we are of them. It is a less confrontational way to call him out while building her up (which it sounds like she both needs and deserves).

But then I'd have had their shit in my apartment.
I really just wanted that stuff gone. And the free lunch.
...I'll do a lot for a free meal ok
Orrrr... craigslist what they won't take, and use the money to take yourself out for a meal. It's the same as them giving you money for the meal, but with 100% less abuse.
(Alternately, tell them that's the plan and watch how fast they get their asses over there)

RE: RL things I love
I don't know if this should go in things I hate or things I love, but I kind of love listening to people try to figure out how to address their needs in a business scenario when they didn't want to listen to me two years ago when I said "this won't do what you want it to do why are you doing this?"
So it's Schadenfreude, and it's ugly of me, but I am laughing so hard I'm glad I'm on mute. Couldn't have happened to nicer people.

Man, this sucks. I can't upvote but I just want to give you a hug. So. You know.

RE: MU Things I Love
When I can turn things going horribly wrong IC into terrible, wonderful, fun stories, and watch the RP spread out and reach totally unrelated people, change things in organic ways, and see people using the marginally twisted things I come up with to deepen their characters?
I LOVE PEOPLE THAT DO THIS THING.

Alice was memorable
I'll say! It's been years and I still think back to a few scenes with her that stand out as so much good variety of tension.
Don't worry. She still doesn't want to fuck Gordon, wherever she is now.

Dawson Bryce. The Reach.
Made a broken soldier sort. Meant to be a Ghoul. Next thing I know, he's not crippled and now he's a Wizard. Brother to a horrible Vampire. Best friends with a Monkey God and a disgruntled, ultra burned out cop. So much drama ensued but it was all fun right up to the end. Then it went down hill. Fast. Great ride though and made me fall in love with Mage.
I've had a lot of characters but those two are the only ones I've tmteally put that much time into.
Man. Dawson and the Bryce family as a whole got me started on The Reach and I couldn't have lucked into better people. I was late to the party by then, but playing Alice was memorable, to say the least. She's another character I've just loved from start to finish.

Mine have never stayed with me and my father can be a raging dick. He's, a) Mr. Right-Wing Christian Fundie, b) acts like the rules don't apply to him about anything, anywhere, and he's charming and narcissistic enough to get away with it (though the people around him aren't).
My mother is very sweet and I know she's very much looking forward to seeing me. And sometimes visits with them go smoothly, but I'm just very wound up already, though I'm trying so hard not to be.
I understand. Neither of my parents are narcissistic, but both are super conservative Christian and I spend a lot of time trying not to roll my eyes around them and showing them the acceptable parts of my life so we don't just fight for days. It's a problem. I hope it's not as bad as you fear it might be, and that you get to enjoy the visit through the anxiety.

My parents are coming to town next week. They are staying in my little one-bedroom apartment with me for a few days.
I am super anxious about this.
Oh. Oh dear. Good luck, and I mean that so sincerely. I get super anxious about my parents coming to stay for a few days even now, and I have plenty of room.

RE: Characters You Enjoyed Playing
Shout-out - though their stories (and characters) in Arx are nothing like they were when they were played in MMOs, I miss Pena, and Ylaria, and Ayllish from the original EQ so much, some days. Those stories were great and horrible and wonderful and terrible and all of the above together.

RE: Characters You Enjoyed Playing
Portia on Firan. She had history, in that her mother had schemed and her dad was a war hero and was awesome, and there were all these shenanigans that went on so long before she even existed that by the time she was played she had a legit backstory and travails, man. Obstacles to overcome. I loved overcoming them, one by one - meeting her goals, letting the RP shape her, reaching out and shaping those around me. My favorite moment (aside from duck gifting shenanigans) was when, a year and a half AFTER SHE WAS DEAD, a plan I'd put in place to obfuscate something and lay the blame on someone else TOTALLY WORKED without me having to lift a finger about it. Glorious.

I think the historical dopplegangers thing (which blows my mind every time I see it, but also really just confirms that there's a set # of human faces) pretty much disproves this?
A lot of it (OP lists a lot of women, particularly) may just be a makeup thing, also.
Well, so I think it's more a matter of what people find attractive. Some things are classic looks that are still considered handsome or beautiful, but there's a specific subset of beautiful now that didn't look beautiful to the tastes at the time, so they don't fit as well with period sensibilities.

Idris Elba - Either. Both. All.
Maggie Smith - Period Piece Face.

Haha, I love this clip. I am sure this is how my downstairs neighbors imagine me. Except in place of rolling around bowling balls, I keep them up with my incessant drawing. I am, truly, a monster.
You so are!
You could always go full parent on them and be like - "OH YOU'RE GONNA COMPLAIN? I'LL GIVE YOU A REASON TO COMPLAIN!"
