I thought we were supposed to have life figured out by the time we were my age 😞

I think this is a mantra for everyone over the age of, like, 24.

I've always had a deep appreciation, as an adult, for how very adept other adults were at bullshitting their way through my adolescence.

I used to think that way until I got kids on my own. It's not always that simple.

Ah. Yes. I do happen to be childless (to my knowledge), so I suppose that I can't directly relate to these circumstances.

I really, really tried to give this game a chance. I did.

But I just don't think that I can MMO. Seeing other people run past me in dungeons, doing apparently the same stuff I am supposed to be doing, or seeing them run past in fights and being unable to determine if these are NPCs I am fighting or just rando other players at the quickest glance without some really ugly HUD stuff --

I just can't man. I want so badly to like and play this game but it breaks my head that I cannot un-Multiplayer this game.

I just want my single player ES.

I frequently mutter to a friend of mine that I find it a shame the other games didn't use a not-identical-but-similarly-styled system for their powers (Disciplines, Contracts, Gifts, etc).

Demon and Werewolf both support a lot of custom shit via Fetish and Gadgets, too.

Everyone always goes for the magic items. Lulz.

There is another fairly universal way to do this too.

Points at Spirits. Points at Influence. Points at Strengthen.

I mean, while I can see where you're coming from, let's remember two things:
1). You are currently in the Hog Pit. I don't think "having nice things" is a realistic bar in here.

Driving home today, jeep starts making a wierd clicking noise and occasionally vibrating a bit. Call my brother, describe it. He says, "It could be a nothing part that doesn't mean much, in which case drive on. Or it could be a wheel bearing, in which case pull the fuck over immediately and I'll come get you."

      Gee. Tough choice.

But back on the topic of video games, @Devrex turned me on to Alan Wake. I don't know how I didn't know about this game before, but I'm enjoying every second of it.

So, I just picked up Resident Evil 7.

Holy shit do I love this game. I mean, granted, I was already a fan of the series before, but this one has me literally afraid to walk through doors now. Doors which, by the way, don't end up at a load screen, can be partially opened, bashed through, aimed through, etc.

Minor bitches: I don't like that I can't bind my other mouse keys to different actions. It fucks with me. Healing and running are a PITA with the regular keyboard, so I've had to find creative ways to reconfigure them to make it more streamlined.

But combat is -hard-, and I would recommend avoiding it at all costs. You know, much like the first RE games.

I've grown far less tolerant. Maybe just in movie theaters. I will not hesitate to notify ushers, security, management, whoever is supposed to get notified about disruptions, if someone's kid is being a disruption for more than a short period. Or repeatedly over numerous short periods.

Is their kid disabled? Perfectly abled but still a little monster? On medication that makes them irritable? I do not give a fuck, get out.

Oh, also libraries. If you can't stop your kid from screaming non-stop, get the fuck out.

I put up with noisy ass kids in restaurants, malls, grocery stores, on the train, in the park, all over the place. I game with friends who have four kids ranging between 8 and 1, and aside from the occasional physically painful shriek, I don't bat an eyelash at them being little monsters, but if they brought them to a movie theater and those kids couldn't control themselves? I'd have their asses out in a heartbeat.

Which they know, and so they don't take their kids if it'll be a problem. If that means they just don't go to movies if they can't make arrangements, then it does. And yeah, it sucks for them, but too bad. They chose to be parents, not the rest of us,. There's other places, other ways, you can go out and get your public on where people will feel obligated to put up with poorly behaved (for whatever reason) children. The movie theater isn't one of those places.

I hate to say it, but I'm pretty much right there with you. I'm still in the 'hire a babysitter' camp. I'll happily acknowledge that I have no kids, and thus people should take my opinion with a grain of salt, but damn. This just seems like common sense/common courtesy. Having terrible children shouldn't be a carte blanche pass to inflict them on others.

Are there any more games left that prohibit TS? Sounds like a bad investment idea on the part of the people who took the time to stand the game up.

Ostensibly, yes. I play on at least one where it's a halfway written rule. But those staffers are at least smart enough to know that they're never going to be able to enforce such a rule, so it's not treated like a Big Deal.
