You just have to refresh, yeah. You'll probably also notice that the expand arrows in quotes don't appear, and sometimes it'll leave text out too. Not sure what causes it, but refreshing the page fixes it.

RE: Geist Reconstruction
That's only half true.
The majority of the activity in the Arrows was me trying desperately to organize elections after Councilors and Provosts kept quitting left and right, and it was like pulling teeth every single time. I hated it, they hated it, and beyond that, you couldn't organize an Arrow event to save your soul.
The one and only big thing I saw going on Consilium-wise in that year was Dawson assassinating what's-her-name, Vanessa? That got people talking, IC and OOC. For like two weeks. And then it went back to dead as normal.
So while there was technically activity, it was minimal, and a great deal of it was more OOC than IC. The organizations were pretty meaningless to everyday gameplay, outside of people claiming to be a part of them because it gave people an idea of where their ideologies lied. Kind of like Democrat or Republican, only with magic. It could get conversations going on a small scale, but no more or less than any other personal philosophy. It was just more public what the Grand Consensus was.

RE: Geist Reconstruction
I only ever played Mage there, and that only in the last year, but I managed to hear a whole bunch of shit while I was there. "I wasn't supposed to be in charge, but..." is one of those things I heard more often than not. Seems that staff turnover was high. Which I guess a game with that many staffers should be unsurprising given who was at the top of the ladder.
But the spheres in general seemed pretty dead while I was there, and no amount of crunchy stuff was going to move them to give-a-fuck status. I'm not sure that this lies on any one person, so much as the atmosphere of the game itself. Geist might have been dead and lacking in cohesion, but I didn't see much activity and cohesion even in highly structured spheres like Mage.

RE: Turning Off Your Thread Notifications
There is also a setting under your profile options which allows you to unfollow your own threads by default.

RE: Ghoulage on Kingsmouth
It would just be a repeat of what others have posted. And I believe that I -did- answer the question to that effect.

What about the policy seems ambiguous to you?
...seriously? We have been talking about this for a good long while now. How did you not manage to catch the part that several people have mentioned that it's ambiguous and vague, including @coin and others specifically calling out the fact that there is absolutely no mention of staff being allowed to use your PC in any way they want while you're away?
I mean, you're usually pretty on top of things, but this seems sort of naive, especially after we've been talking about it for pages now.

also, lol @ specialty in 'dick ripping'
I've seen it. It was glorious.
Man, I kind of want that now.
Also, pretty much +1 everything Tempest and Coin just said re: PvP and such. It sounds like it would be a very boring, staff-intensive game with very little for the characters to actually -do- outside of combat.
And @Cobaltasaurus ... if you wanted a small game, why advertise for it in the first place? Especially with something like the OP, which seems to indicate you do want a large game, because you're already asking for staff help with it. It might be an assumption, sure, but it's not exactly an illogical assumption.

RE: Goetia: nWod 2nd Edition and Crossover - Seeking Staff
This, and also what @coin said. You just... you can't do no veil of any kind. You're going to completely break your games. Mage has paradox, Demon has ... everything.
I mean, the setup that you're talking about is neat and all, in its own ways. Innovative. But I think you might be trying to reach further than your grasp on this one. No PVP, sheet sharing, no veil... that's going to attract a very tiny subset of players, and I wonder if it'd even be enough to sustain your game in the first place.
But, ultimately, it's your game. You can do with it as you please.
Just, you know... expect it to only cater to a relative few.

@icanbeyourmuse
I... am not sure how much help I can be without access to your stuff or very specific information that I'm not sure you know how to have, so let me see if I can get ahold of Soma for you, since he set it up in the first place, so I'm guessing that you trust him more.

@icanbeyourmuse
So where did you move it from, and where did you move it to?
-
RE: Ghoulage on Kingsmouth
So you're saying that it's not only unclear, it's applied inconsistently. Winning argument there.
-
RE: Ghoulage on Kingsmouth
That would be almost sensible. Therefore, it's probably low on the list.

RE: Wiki Fixer
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4763909/mediawiki-on-subdirectory-and-subdomain
From that page:
I just moved my Wiki from /var/www/html/ to /var/www/html/wiki.
I needed to modify $wgScriptPath in LocalSettings.php from "" to "/wiki";
Then I needed to restart Apache: /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
Now navigating my browser to http://46.101.38.186/wiki correctly displays the main wiki page.
These are also the instructions that the mediawiki manual links to, so.

RE: Ghoulage on Kingsmouth
Just because it's been done in other places doesn't make it any less of a dick move. The community has a certain set of expectations at this point regarding OOC behavior and civility on the part of both players and staffers, and the discussions on these forums clearly show that. Removing a character from territory through non-final measures is fine. Staff killing a character simply because it seems expedient is clearly not.

RE: Fantasy MU*s?
Then Dark Sun, methinks, is not for you. It's a slowly dying world, and magic is just making it die that much faster. If you want to establish a little stable village that you can defend from raiders or whatever, cool, or clean up some of the nastier crime in a burrough of one of hte larger cities, maybe, but you're not gonna have shining happy times in a world where water is almost non-existant and magic can kill living things around it to draw on that power.

RE: AD&D 2nd Ed
Thac0 is awesome, and sensible. Who knew that as you progressed in level, you would get harder to hit by dint of being a combat veteran? No, fighters and such remain just as hittable forever, better have nicer armor, Thac0 is just too much mathing.

RE: Fantasy MU*s?
What do you mean by actual change' ? Do you mean 'can they make a magic-broken scarred desert world where people are barely surviving a utopia' ? Probably not short of an end-game scenario, and if that's the goal, why play in Dark Sun at all. Do you mean can they manipulate a faction to try to make their own little slice of something a little less shitty? Sure.
Ultimately, the Dark Sun theme is... brutal. It's harsh, and violent, and very much about trying to survive at all costs. Sometimes that means cooperation, sometimes that means war.
