@insomniac7809 That's entirely fair. The game is clearly centered on a single adventuring party's worth of characters (with each's unique die reflecting that, if nothing else).

A MU* approach would have to allow for the possibility of multiple parties having been brought to Die, whether at the same time or at different times, and there'd need to be a way to deal with having multiple godbinders, fools, and even masters--unless the master role becomes, effectively, a "staff PC" role for antagonist/storytelling purposes.

@Seraphim73 and random people I never really got to know from TGG can attest: I ain't afraid to assault a trench on my own. Everyone else will catch up. Eventually.

      Jack: What are your legs?
      Archy Hamilton: Springs. Steel springs.
Jack: What are they going to do?
Archy Hamilton: Hurl me down the track.
Jack: How fast can you run?
Archy Hamilton: As fast as a leopard.
Jack: How fast are you going to run?
Archy Hamilton: As fast as a leopard!

Commenting more in general than about saving goats in particular, for me it is more about making the stakes matter personally to the PC.
I have played character living in a van where basic survival was everything and had great fun, I have also been in literal save the world plots that were boring because my PC had no skin in the game.
For example the table top D+D game I am in is about saving the world, but my characters stake in it is that the big bad's underlings killed his best friend back when we were level 3 (current level is 17) my characters motivation is still on getting vengeance for his friend while saving the world is a nice bonus.

@fatefan I'll nudge the people over at Tenebrous Isles who have been working on theres - again it is Dresden based because that is what they do. (http://tenebrous.mechanipus.com/wiki/Main_Page) . I know Lem is working on a non-Dresden system too. Slowly the fate mush spreads! 😄

@Kairos I have a similar sense that it's a bit more accessible and MU*able. DFAE also has some clear inspiration from a few of the PbtA games (such as how they've implemented Conditions), which I admit I am a huge fan of.

However, I have not played on Dark Spires, so I am not so well-versed in what the likely player population would be like or what sort of broader DF-related MU* history/archaeology would influence possible interest (or lack thereof) in a DFAE game.

Brainstorming: I imagine that, were such a game to exist, setting it in the middle of the Harada / Rising Spirit conflict (the "Harbinger Wars") would give people the opportunity to create characters with easy organizational connections as well as easily identifiable antagonistic relationships.

@golgoth I agree. Maybe I'll return to it in the future--but for now, it's dead.

I shelved SWR for a few years. Absolutely having a blast coming back to it, and I seem to be a lot more motivated. I wish you luck @fatefan

@Midgardener said in What would a superhero game need to be/do to bring in a new player base?:

Wild Talents would be a decent online system, without all the IP balderdash.

And teaching people the ORE system, which is difficult to learn with their twenty-eight types of die resolution setups. (Kind of kidding: Wild Talents, if memory serves, has three, tho it's the only system I know of that it's entirely possible to over-power your abilities and cause huge amounts of destruction. It's mostly by choice, tho, so it's not like The Tick.)

I don't really care because I don't play there. I just got an e-mail, which was deleted as soon as it was read (cuz I don't play there), that said they switched servers. So I don't even know if I /have/ an updated server address for it. Mudstats has it operational though so, I dunno.

Either way neither here nor there, now, to figure out how to create a poll!

Yea me to, but I did actually go there. It was up for a while and then went down down. I almost want to know the back story behind it but.. Everything must die.
