    • RE: Website Design Platforms

I actually really like those templates and will give them a look.

My project I guess would be close to a blog if anything. I want to make a platform to publish a on going series of short stories, fake interviews, audio clips, and photographs, that chronicle the outcome of a global cataclysmic event as if the author(s) are living it. (Or have survived it and are looking back) Think uh, World War Z, but not Zombies.

But I don't want it to look like a blog. I want it to look like a real website, a website that someone living in this world would visit. Kind of like some Augmented Reality Games that movies and video games do these days for marketing.

Figure I would try and solicit some information from others. I am looking for a website platform to design a website for a project I am working on. I have looked at Wix, SquareSpace, and have taken a peek at Webflow.

Are there any other platforms I should know about? Anyone have any experience with them?

Lets be honest. I think this can be the tag line for 99% of MUSH involvements. 😛

Its also likely the people who play Sin Eaters are lazy shits and no amount of Courtly Intrigue will bring them out of their IC apartments.

I guess we're talking about the Reach? I made a Geist there, but honestly have no room to talk because I was SUPER idle. Can you go into detail about why/how the Sphere was a pain in the ass?

Also Krewes are in no way a required part of Geist, its just an option. At least that was the feel I got from the rule book.

It was a pain in the ass because you were super idle and so was pretty much everyone else, and the lack of sphere cohesion (via any sort of anything) made it impossible to actually organize Sin-Eaters organically, which isn't the case in the other splats, which have other problems, but not that one!

I never said Krewes are required, but they are an integral part of the game. The entire concept of "we don't need organizational splats in our Geist game because Sin-Eaters make their own" falls absolute flat when you have a game full of Sin-Eaters that don't make Krewes.

Lack of Sphere Cohesion led to people being super idle? Bullshit. Just because there is no organizational structure doesn't mean you can't make interesting plots that involve the sphere. You have plenty of links that link ALL Sin-Eaters. Ghosts, the Underworld, more ghosts.

Sounds like shit staffing to me.

I was idle because of school, not because of a lack of mechanics to tie me to other Sin-Eaters.

Well, being idle and then saying that something was shit staffing sounds like shit logic to me. So I don't know. I'm sorry my experience doesn't line up with your idly proposed suppositions?

      ¯_(ツ)_/¯

ETA: Especially fun since I'm going to guess you weren't even in the sphere when I staffed it! Though I could be wrong.

I was idle to the point where I don't even think I can say I played. I made the character, had one scene, and then focused on school. I'm saying it SOUNDS like shit staffing, not that it was. When I hear "It was a lack of spherical cohesion!" I hear an excuse. Plenty of other spheres that have in depth spherical organizations and hierarchy can be just as idle.

You could have been running amazing shit and I wouldn't have unidled. So my idleness wasn't the fault of anyone and I wasn't pinning for things to make me unidle.

One thing I do remember from my time there, is that there was no coded Underworld. Is it possible the lack of the Sin-Eater's main playground helped fuel the sphere's idleness?

I was idle because of school, not because of a lack of mechanics to tie me to other Sin-Eaters. When I first read the Sin Eater book and saw the Underworld, I saw a veritable play ground that could lead to tons of interesting and fun plots, primarily for Sin-Eaters.

I really don't like WoD, but the only Sphere I did find interest in was Geist. Specifically because there was no faction bullshit, and everyone Sin Eater could be a island/nation onto themselves. You take that one aspect away, I feel you rip out one of the core foundations of Geist, that there is no proto-typical Geist.

I also feel that the system is so limited (They have pretty much the Underworld, that's it) that they very easily interact with other Spheres.

    • RE: Fitness and Whatnot

Sadly biking is out the window for me. My drive is 45 minutes across state lines. Im mainly focusing on dieting. Low carbs. Minimum sugar. Totally no Soda. I did the Atkins diet a year ago and lost a decent amount of weight (which I promptly put back on after I passed the Bar and realized I was fucked for a job)

I know we like to joke that you can't kick the soda habit. I had a hard time too. But seriously switch to Coke Zero if you like Coke. Coke Zero Wild Cherry helps mask the diet taste. You will lose some 30 lbs in 3 months if you drop the normal soda.

Anyone here work 9-5 (or in reality 10-11 hours when you factor in drive time), if so, and you keep fit. HOW DO YOU DO IT.

Seriously... holy shit, spending 12 hours sitting down a day leaves so little time to dedicate to working out, its kind of soul crushing.

I don't know, you might be on to something there. If you create some MUD-ish code to handle big monsters and such that don't need the guiding hand of an intelligent GM, it could work. I think now and then a GM would have to step in and do things like, "The Griffon flies away to its nest!" or such, but having a robust code base to handle things like that could be beneficial.

Glad you didn't spoil it, told you it was worth the wait. Fantastic game. RL has hit me hard so I haven't come back to this thread in a while but I have few more ideas kicking around. I'm thinking the focus on Harry Potter with Tits and Swords, er I mean Witcher School is the way to go to keep the game manageable, always open to suggestions tho.

I almost want a thread of just the opening inspiration for a MU*, funny or serious.

After the 48 hour bender from the night before, the tired lawyer awoke from his coke and semen covered coma. The groupie from across the country that played his IC sister snored loudly next to him, her foot dipped into one of the twelve cat food bowls that surrounded the bed. His brow furrowed as he didn't remember having any cats but then Tony the Pyrofox laughed out manically as the thirty fifth marathon of the new My Little Ponies Transformers Cross Over Series played over Cartoon Network, reminding him of why he needed the cat food.

He snugged his latest conquest gently, placing a cat bowl on her head as he got out of bed and headed to his PC. On his phone he checked when his next Krav Maga lesson would be and decided if he wanted Pizza Hut or Dominos. He decided on Dominos as he knew the Vampire OOC channel liked Dominos. Logging on to his favorite MUSH of the month he gasped when he saw the foreboding text splash cross the screen of black, white, and neon-cyan. "You have been site banned."

"B-but my request for my Dragon was suppose to be finished today... DAMNIT' I"LL MAKE MY OWN MU*! After... I finish looking at my high school gym class yearbook."

    • RE: Witcher MUSH Brainstorm (SPOILERS)

Alright here is my idea for a Witcher MUSH that focused mostly on Witchers.

The game would take place far enough into the future that current major characters have passed into legend/history, perhaps a 100 years or so. Because of the events of the Witcher 3 the world is plagued with a new wave of monsters that were released during the mini-Confluence of Spheres that happened during the finale of the Witcher 3. The current Witchers of the world managed for some time, but by the end of the century they came together to make a final decision, bring back the tradition of making new Witchers. But, they wanted to avoid mistakes that were made in the past.

First, all the Witcher schools were combined into a single school with many aspects, the school of the Chimera. All the facets of the various schools (Wolf, Griffon, Cat, Bear, Snake ect) are combined in this single school, and while there is now only one school, Witchers still specialize in specific aspects, so the factions of Wolf, Griffon, Cat, Bear, Snake still exist.

This combination of schools is mainly to avoid the history of the Cat, where Witchers of that school became glorified thugs and assassins, and fell off the Path. It also to divide the various powers of a Witcher. Witchers become much more specialized. With Wolf Witchers being excellent at tracking. Griffons at Sign mastery, Snakes with Alchemy. This would also generate the need for "squads" of Witchers to handle contracts.

By splitting the various powers the process to become a Witcher would also become a bit less strenuous with a slightly higher survival rate. (I actually have an idea for a plot line where a foreign King would approach the Witchers with demands to hand over the process to make Witchers, in hopes of creating super soldiers, ala Witcher 1)

Thus the game would be focused on the specific school in the contracts it handles, the inner politics of the various factions, and of course outside forces trying to influence the school.

Now its starting to sound like Harry Potter but with tits, swords, and monsters.... Hm.

@FiranSurvivor I'm not sure I agree with your premise: a lot of people were introduced to Star Wars via the first trilogy, in which people who weren't Jedi were pretty important to the story.

But -- granting the premise for the sake of argument -- the prequel trilogy shows us a picture of a galaxy where there are many more Jedi in existence than the number of players even a pretty optimistic MU* creator could hope to draw, and the galaxy doesn't seem to have exploded. Some of them are certainly more powerful than others, but I don't get the feeling that any of them are so powerful that they're playing a whole different game than the rest. (I have not dived into Expanded Universe material -- I'm just going by what I see on screen.)

Now, if we imagined an alternate universe Star Wars saga where we see everything from the perspective of Palpatine, a vastly powerful bad-guy Jedi who's also a secretive master manipulator who has the entire galactic government in his pocket -- that's a saga I'd hesitate to turn into a game.

I certainly see what you are saying. Im cooking up an idea right now with a focus on Witchers (with room for other concepts) I'll post more after work.

And no clues for dumb people. Smarten up YA DUMMY. /jimnorton voice
