Today is the day I bought the Switch.
Today is the day I schooled my children horribly at Mario Kart 64.
Today is the day they learned that if you take yourself as a serious gamer at age 8, you may end up crying at the end of the day.
I'd feel more guilty if the boy wasn't crowing about having mad skills and being an O.G. at Street Fighter 2.
Today is the day I comforted my boy for not being as good as me at Street Fighter.
But I feel no guilty at all.
As hinted at in another thread, I and a small crew of developers are working on a Dark Ages Vampire game. The focus will be on politics on a grand scale, even though there will be a lot of space for stories and individual tales of adventure. On the former, I took inspiration from Birthright; on the former, the Witcher series. So, not Lords and Ladies: more like Monsters and Madmen.
The game will be set in Terra Mariana, aka Livonia, ca. 1250. We have a basic history up. I've finished off some system tweaks, as I intend to work Social and Mental Combat systems from the Danse Macabre and the Chronicles of Darkness into the mix, which will be sort of important for the political side of things. While history up to the date of the game is important, everything after that will probably be sort of fudge-y. We're going to try to put the emphasis on gameplay and fun rather than absolute accuracy, though.
Right now, I'm working on the bloodlines. Here are the proposed lines for the Daeva and the Gangrel. I'll toss more up later:
Daeva
Gerasenes: Whereas the Sanctified believe themselves created to test humanity, the Gerasenes believe themselves to be possessed by demons accomplish the same task. Their belief is considered heretical, and is kept amongst themselves. Celerity, Majesty, Nightmare, Vigor. (Custom.)
Maenads: The remnants of a Grecian bloodline traversed north after Rome’s conquest of the Achaean League, along the Black Sea and into the heart of Sarmatia. There, their passionate traditions passed to the Rom, and to other pagan cultures, where they manipulate the emotions of others through music, dance, and sex. Celerity, Dominate, Majesty, Vigor. (Custom.)
Salubri: Humanists to a fault, the altruistic Salubri find themselves drawn to wherever the Crusades may take them, where they can tend to the needy, the sick, and the infirm, as much as trying to relieve the suffering of the victims’ family. Auspex, Celerity, Majesty, Vigor. (V20, p. 408.)
Gangrel
Anda: Savages from the East that have mastered combat from horseback, the Anda make for vicious adversaries on the medieval battlefield. The fact that they keep strong ties with the Golden Horde make them feared and loathed in equal measure. Animalism, Dominate, Protean, Resilience. (V20, p. 416; BL:Hidden, p. 96 (Oberlochs).)
Goji: Ancient Savages that have lurked in the hinterlands since time in memoriam, they rule the remote parts of the North, watching from mountains or parapets. The few that dare to wander near humanity have made a pact with the Second Estate to serve as their sentinels. Animalism, Protean, Resilience, Vigor. (V20, p. 401 (Gargoyles).)
Mystikoi: Scholars of God who seek to reconcile the Beast with the Divine, these Savages still remain in the Lancea et Sanctum, although their relationship is fraying with the Great Schism and the decline of the Byzantine Empire. Animalism, Auspex, Protean, Resilience. (AB, p. 130.)
If you want to help out, or have some ideas, feel free to PM. We're still in development, and will be for a while. There's no timetable on when we'll be up and running, but I personally hope to have something ready by the end of the year.
Definitely congratulations.
On my own personal note, my partner finished her first year of her physician's assistant program. Next year is clinicals, and then the Boards. Anyone who knows me personally knows how much I consider this a ridiculously-hard accomplishment, and how long we have been working towards this.
The number of threads devoted to Arx, and how much fun people are having there.
I'm not even trying to be ironic.
It's good to see people enjoying a game. Especially a non-WoD game.
I use to think that love/care meant self-sacrifice.
I did too. And then I had children. My mindset changed very fast.
Loving another isn't about cutting all of the flesh from your bones for them. Loving another is showing them why you won't do so, or ask them to do the same.
Sometimes, all it takes is one moment, one scene, and one player to rejuvenate your interest in a game.
Please be that player when you can.
... encourage them to come play.
Maved a guest an extremely graphic TS pose.
Two points:
When you can take the Palm Sunday mass you suffered through and turn it into parts of an IC sermon for a Sanctified Midnight Mass.
Totally makes being Catholic work to your advantage in setting the mood for a Vampire game.
American Christians and Mormons are on the move. They're claiming eminent domain, using tax-free donations to run profit empires, and actively lobbying for the promotion of their own faith as a social standard above the views and beliefs of other cultures and religions.
Wait. Who's using eminent domain? Because it's not the church. It's not any church.
It's the government. The government being corrupted by the church.
I'm Catholic, by the by. Our Pope is a pretty good one right now. It's the dude who washes people's feet now, not the ex-Nazi.

My only concern is that since they never posted it's hard to tell if it was actually Az's account but then again, since they never posted losing the account isn't a great unfairness.
Admins have access to other information that users do not.
I have evidence and reason to believe that both DropBear and SabotKick72 were DWOPP.
I also have evidence and reason to believe that Enervation is the player complained about in the Azazello PSA Thread. It is not the inference suggested by Jeshin.
Again, if anyone has reason to believe that I made an error or that another account has been opened for either person, or for the same person as the case might be, please advise an admin.

Camping is a problem. There is no easy solution.
Here's a solution: how about only allowing one PC for every player? No alts. You're either playing on the game or you are not.
Permit people to use redshirts or proxy bits for the same PC, so that they can RP in two places at once if they are worried about missing RP opportunities on the game by being occupied in one scene.
Send our hopes along with those scans that it is not cancer; and I'm not much of a sappy person but I feel legitimately crap that you're hurting over something you can only experience from the sidelines, much as I'm sure you want to do something.
Thank you for the positivity.
To be frank, I'm not sure if hurt is the right word for it. It's exhausting. It's probably not quite the same as the sexism and the racism, but living with the constant thought of "what will I tell the kids if she doesn't come home?" is something I could do without.
I get alternately tired and angry at times. I've been more irritable as of late. But things are getting better, professionally. It's really nice to get credit card records showing your adversary in a divorce case has been on a dating site since before the divorce was filed.
We aren't perfect here, but we can do our best to accommodate others that we do not cause actual physical or emotional harm. That is the spirit of this policy.
Recognizing that a member may elect to kill their dead identity before, during, or after transition, admins will review requests for deletions from such members as requests to have their accounts' posts delete from the forum. As with requests for account deletion, we will generally grant these with no questions asked.
Recognizing the amount of work it takes to grant such requests, the deletion of the posts may not be immediate or even completed within 24 hours, depending on the circumstances. Admins will do their best to delete the posts in a timely fashion, but request the requestors' patience through that process.
Be advised that we unfortunately cannot guarantee full erasure. While it is relatively simple to search for posts made from an account, it is exceedingly difficult to search the entire board for quotes and links. So while we can and will delete posts originating from an account, we will not be deleting quotes and links to such posts.
In short: we will do our best in good faith to fulfill the request.
N.B.: This policy may change as nodeBB continues update and get modified.

People froth at the mouth for alts, it's crazy.
Too fucking bad? People clamored for alts on RfK, but the absence of alts was one of its best policies.
Many people have disagreed with my point of view, but I believe that players need to invest in their characters more. If you cannot get your PC into RP for whatever reason, switch PCs. Keep trying, or don't try, whatever you choose.
I can see very few reasons for playing an alt, other than "I want to try something else but I don't want to lose the RP I have on the PC I currently have." That's fine, but, if you want to get more RP on the PC you currently have, why not put more energy there rather than split them with another PC? And if you just want to switch concepts, why not do that, quit your own PC, and pick up the other? This is especially true for FC games.
Where FCs have leadership positions, activity needs to be higher than just one scene a month. Much higher. And staff needs to be pro-active and get on people to either set up alternate leadership or giving it up in favor of players who can meet staff's expectations.
One.
I have two kids and one cat. If one of the kids wants a cat, they will have to kill one child or the existing cat. And I know my cat is pretty damn fast.
My household is always going to be interesting.
Blood Angel has been banned for blatantly ignoring a warning to quit using personal attacks. This was done in the Mildly Constructive area of the board, which we have tried to keep clean of the same.
I realize some folks have disagreements with the way that this board has been and continues to be operated, but calling us "fascist fucks" is neither appreciated nor a productive start for a constructive conversation.
@arkandel said in Make MSB great again!:
The 'MSB effect' in regards to damaging/killing games has come up before, and I hate it. The very idea that this forum is important 'because it can bring down a MUSH', whether right or wrong, is abominable. It's not what the place is about, or for. If our ability to damage games was the measure of its success I'd be looking to pass it on to someone else today since that's not something I want to invest any time into.
There is no "MSB Effect." Any claim thereof is simply untrue.
There are countless examples of games that have persisted despite the best efforts of MSB, WORA, or SWOFA to take them down. To suggest otherwise, in my opinion, is erroneous at best and flat-out false at worst.
This place is the only place I'm aware of that serves as a media outlet. People promote, complain, and defame in equal measure. While it would be nice if people stick to known facts and honest opinions, that as a policy cannot be reasonably enforced without censorship.
This place is fine. Its members may not be, but this place is fine.
You know, except for the changes we're recommending here.

Fallcoast was a pretty rushed job; I'm not proud of that but I was really trying to escape TR and all of the baggage that came with that. There were also some uh.. personality issues that I feel hampered its creation, along with 'Oh yeah, we'll totes get that done soon', and us not doing a good job of writing shit down.
If you recall, I was working on Fallcoast immediately post-TR, and I kind of said something along the lines of "I feel rushed" regarding setting up the vampire sphere.
I know that the CGen is mostly hand-done, but, to be honest, I prefer that, as a staffer. I will administrate the shit out of every little splat, if that means I don't have to tolerate actual day-to-day contact with people.
Filthy hobbitses.
I think -- I think -- that you may want to strongly consider winnowing down the number of alts per person. Seriously. That will really, really reduce your workload per player.
