I haven't played 15, and YET I knew. I knew there was a lot of teenage moping. It's the one constant in FF games. Except for Tactics, which is the best FF game, in which there was a lot of teenage MURDER and SOLDIERING.
I like FF 8 the best because the teenage moping was intentional and a key part of the character -- and the story. (Forgotten orphan kid; mother figure goes batshit and disappears, then becomes the evil sorceress; gets hit on by teacher; finds a pretty girl that likes him; failure to connect makes him lost in the time stream; etc.)
That said, FF 15 doesn't focus on the moping. Ignis is a narcissistic know-it-all; Prompto is what you'd expect from a young sidekick; and Gladiolus is muscley-supercool. I like the party, for the most part.
What FF 15 fails to grasp is a compelling story and dialogue, but I get it -- it's a JRPG, and these things aren't important to them.
