    • RE: What Types of Games Would People Like To See?

@Thenomain Thats what Auspice was getting at. Some Long Term Asps some people choose are a bit too long term. In all likelihood a new game won't last long enough to see 'Nobel Prize' realistically achieved. You're going to get xp-lapped by people choosing long term Asps that are better described as medium-term, even if you're still getting beats. Besides, the better Aspirations are ones that fit within the chronicle boundaries, can be realistically achieved, and are more stuff like "graduate college" rather than "invent space college".

Some people don't understand pacing, and long-term Asps that are too long term are just a waste.

Experienced players will rake in beats by tactically choosing aspirations for maximum xp yield and focus their scenes on ticking off those boxes while working toward long term Asps that can be achieved in month(s).

      Follow-up.

Zork is important for two reasons...

      1. It's pretty much t he progenitor "computer word choice game" and could arguably be considered the originating ancestor of MU'ing

      2. The source code had been missing for years and was thought to be extinct

WoD set in the Vampire Hunter D universe.

Post apocalyptic vampires, werewolves, and all manner of monsters living with the Barbarois. Ancient vampire lords in castles that were once equipped with rockets to travel to a safe zone on the dark side of the moon. Wild west type towns with high-tech hunters taking on bounties to hold back the dark.

@tnp said in FCs on Comic MUs:

@ghost That's a concern about every character on a game regardless of whether it's and FC, OC, gender/sexuality swapped or anything else.

That kind of player is going to turn anything into that kind of character.

Right but I think fandom and genre love plays even more a factor on comic book games.

It's easy to go OMG DR STRANGE WOULDN'T DO THAT to an existing character. Theres less of that with an OC

    • RE: The Hub Concept: Structured Mush Development

      @Selerik Feedback. Great idea.

Using coordinated efforts (such as those provided by Git) other open source software has been shown to vastly improve and address known flaws/vulnerabilities. A coordinated approach towards MU code as Open Source Software (which it is, mostly) could result in better standards, cleaner code, and churn out better administration (as well as swappable talent).

Using the concept that "more eyes can see more flaws" (or whatever that security principle was. Kerchoff?) the code being out in the open for review and coordination makes it more likely that anything malicious will be spotted. A lot of MU code hasn't updated at the base level in decades, too, so continued development will do it well.

I've always thought these silo'd efforts between Devs has been great for specific code based, but ultimately using up good time that could have been spent building as a community.

Alt limits would be necessary. There's only so many mutants before youre forced to create an OC or play BEAK

If you love Beak? More power to you, but getting a roster of appable mutant FCs that would center on Utopia is key, and I think making sure people have a list of mutants to research and choose from to avoid defaulting to WTFBEAK would help.

Truthfully I think a lot of my hanging around was this was one of the only non WoD places that had something going on. The lack of non supernatural/WoD environments with activity means you're willing to expand your tolerance of ham in order to be able to play something.

That's so depressing, yet true. People are willing to take punishment or humor some self-centered staffer's bullshit because the game provides them with an outlet. In this I'm pretty sure sometimes MUing is a good description of what it's like dating Charlie Sheen.

      He called me names
      He slapped me around

I've been working on a list. God, there are a LOT of great characters in the X-universe.

I'm at about 19 "iconic" FCs that are core the comics and should probably best be left in the hands of people willing to run plot.

I'm currently looking at 113 "General Population" FCs.

That's 132 potential FC options, and they're not just old throwaway 70s mutants, either.

Regardless, the point that I'm trying to make is that there are a LOT of great FCs that aren't some kind of weird 70s fringe D-list character to choose from, and many of these characters on this list are tangled up together with years of character history, faction alignments, and would all technically be welcome in Utopia.

Aint nothing wrong with Islam. There are plenty of recorded Islamic empires in history with similar mindsets.

Bear in mind, no one said there's anything NEGATIVE about the Qun. It's a mindset, a religion, a race of people. It's no more offensive than noting the Jedi Order was influenced by Buddhism/Hinduism/the Samurai
