@Sunny Quitting my old job was the best thing I did, even without having a new one. But, admittedly, I did feel fairly confident I'd find a new one - not hundred percent sure, but confident enough that taking that leap was definitely worth it.
I think many people underestimate themselves and get stuck in work they hate, because it is safe, and the unknown is scary. Just human nature, really.
I've done similar things in the past. Someone up here in this thread talked about getting rid of all their stuff, or most of it. I've moved all over the country a few times and each time I literally started over with new furniture. I once lived for three months without even a bed at one place - not because I couldn't afford one, not really, but because it was so liberating having almost NOTHING. I had a kitchen table and two chairs, a mattress on the floor in the bedroom, an armchair, a cheap table I bought in a second hand shop that I put a tiny 14 inch TV on, and a small desk for the computer. That was it, in my two-room apartment. Sure was easy to clean!
I stayed there for three years though so I got more furniture later on, but when I left and moved? I didn't bring anything with me (well apart from clothes and some of the china.)
