And I really selfishly want a Watchman officer that can yell at Tamlin, my Watchman, for... well for doing stupid things!

RE: The Work Thread
@Goblin Replying to myself cause... I didn't get THAT job, but I got another! Starting on december 2nd. Two months unemployed, I got savings to see me through and it now just feels like a nice long vacation. The new job got some wonky work hours, but it's closer and it seems quite nice.

RE: Discworld: The MUSH
@JinShei Makes sense to me. Could have an undertitle referencing Discworld too.

RE: TS - Danger zone
I straight up do no longer do any serious romantic relationship RP of the monogamous type. For one thing, I'm not very good at it and for the second, I've yet to have RPed in one where the other person didn't stop playing, or I stopped playing, or the game died, or we got super bored about it or... That said, my characters might still have some meaningful relationship with lovers. Friends with benefits sort of thing, where he gives a shit about them and if they went and said 'Hey, let's not sleep together any longer but let's still be friends' he'd be 'absolutely no problem. Hey, wanna hang out on friday and get shit faced and throw snowballs at the Templars?'-sort of thing.
Maybe part of it is that the 'leading up to sex'-RP is damn entertaining. The flirting, or awkward, or funny situations, or serious situations for that matter and that spark of attraction when it happens. Heck, I'd say that personally, if there was none of that before the actual TS, I don't know if I'd even RP out the sex at all, I'd likely not be interested - or I'd feel a bit weird, like... The RP leading up to it gives you so many cues to make it a good scene when it does, right?
I guess that's my ramble of the day. More to come later.

RE: TS - Danger zone
This topic is interesting. I mean, the old debate of TS vs FTB has always been surrounded with a certain taboo - that you can't actually get aroused from TS, or admit to it. I mean, surely there are those that don't. Absolutely certainly, some get aroused.
Personally, I see it as from outside. It's like reading an erotic story, I mean, I can get excited about one of those, I get excited about TS too sometimes, but at no point do I think of my character as a first person extension of myself. I look at it from outside, as an erotic story of two persons having an erotic scene. And it absolutely has to fit into the story in general, fit the narrative. (This assuming the game isn't a game like Shang, of course, but I never played on any of those.)
I think, like Ganymede, I might realise I might get on well with someone in RP based on their general wiki/page, and that includes the PB. I like gifs, too. Fitting gifs that shows a bit of a character's mannerisms is awesome for a good visual.
Got a problem with the perfect model type looking women though. Doesn't do much for me. Quirky, cute, actual human looking... Yeah, definitely.

RE: General Video Game Thread
I don't actually play video games at all any longer and didn't play much in the past either, but found this gem that might amuse some people. It's a concert with only gaming music. Music starts about six minutes in, before that there's a buncha talk in Swedish that most of you won't understand and it's not that interesting. The music is good!

RE: Discworld: The MUSH
I've only been in two scenes but my character has already done an anti-burglary, together with two vampires, and returned stolen jewelry under the logic that if the jewels are returned, the crime never happened - so they broke in where they were stolen and put them back. This, of course, because otherwise the jeweler would be unhappy, the vampire who happened to carry the jewels would be unhappy cause everyone would assume he stole them, the Watch would be happy cause they don't have to do paperwork. And no, he didn't steal them to begin with. (He's a watchman who used to be a thief.)
That's how you fight crime. You make it go away entirely - to have never happened.
Edited to add: https://discworld.mush.website/scene/9 - in case someone wanna poke at a log.

RE: Critters!
Goblin blep - my dorky fluffy black cat with white toes on his back paws stole my chair.

RE: Discworld: The MUSH
A bit more general info - there's a rather heavy European influence, in the manner of players, right now. I'm European, Jinshei is, the expert on Discworld lore is European. So, Discord chat might be a bit quiet during US evenings - we're ASLEEP. Well, some are, I should be asleep but I'm not and I'm being stupid and going to bed soon.

RE: Discworld: The MUSH
There's news files detailing what you need to know, plus people in game that has extensive knowledge about Terry Pratchet's world. I've read a few books, so I'm that amateur that knows a little, but I use those news files when in doubt, or ask on channel.
The setting is basically late 1800s if you compare with RL equivalent. There's some steam-punkish elements coming in. There is magic, but it's not used extensively, for various reasons.
All in all? It's not terribly complicated, and theme files will cover the bases

RE: Discworld: The MUSH
Come join us! We're a few starting up RP. You can join the grid even before being approved with the caveat that you best avoid some stuff so it won't have to retconned before you get approval - but approval shouldn't take long. There's already two different plots going on.
I need Watchmen colleagues. You know you want to.

RE: RL things I love
That feeling when you've been sick for over a week and been unable to do much at all in the house, and then suddenly you're feeling just fine again and you deep clean the bathroom and then have a shower in the sparkly clean place.
Satisfaction.

RE: Tablet keyboard
Just get a converter cable, use your regular keyboard. Done.
Edited as I just realised you said you otherwise use a laptop. But you don't need a special keyboard - just get a cheap normal one, a converter cable, and that will do it. I do it with my tablet (an android too btw.)

RE: Do you care about other people's music?
I almost never listen to music. I like music, but to me music is a distraction when I'm doing something. It happens that I got it in the background though, but it's a rare thing.
I always got the radio on in the car however, but that's not quite the same I guess and it's always radio so there's a bunch of talking and news as well.
I voted 'lol,no' though I've listened to some songs sometimes out of curiosity, or if someone has linked me a song they think fit their character. So, the 'lol,no' is a bit... well I guess I'd have liked a 'It may happen' sort of option
I've done song lists when I'm bored. But, I do them for myself. I think most do. I don't care one wit if others wanna listen to them or not.

RE: Which device do you play from?
Tabletop computer almost exclusively, but I've bought a converter cable for my tablet so I can hook a regular keyboard to it, cause there is no chance in hell I'll ever learn to type fast enough on it to be able to RP efficiently. Been aiming to try this out more when at the cabin, using my phone internet and hook it to the tablet and use the keyboard.
Only thing I hate about tablets are the limited clients for it, I haven't found any I like. Thankfully, since I only play Arx atm, I can play through the browser client they got.
Used to have a laptop, but I never liked it much, couldn't sit comfortably.

RE: The Work Thread
I quit my job a few months back - I got a 3 month period where I still got to work for them, that's just how the laws are, but that's fine. I quit it because it was eating my soul and I couldn't stand it any longer. I've never been afraid to just step off the broken wheel when I have to, and so I did it again. Still, at near age 45 I am a bit more worried than I was in the past, if I'll find something else.
Got called in for an interview tomorrow. The work is similar to what I do, but for a much bigger company, a huge international one even. It's a bit further away to drive, but only about ten minutes, so I can cope with that.
Wish me luck.

RE: First Through the Gate Syndrome
Not really MY idea, not taking credit for that - I've seen it being done in various forms by some GMs, but it depends on the plot. @faraday - I get what you're saying, it might not work all the time, it might make people uncomfortable. I guess it's just the same as any other way, asking first if people are ok with that. It could also be that stress relief or help those that don't know when to go with their pose, avoiding the awkward of two people posing at the same time and the pose after the first not fitting with the first, and so on. Once that initial pose order is over with, the ice broken, it tends to just move onwards. I just presented what seemed like an easy solution without the fine print to it, and there's always fine print

RE: First Through the Gate Syndrome
I've seen it done in some GMed scenes, it tends to work - but still relies on people to be somewhat on the ball so it's not necessarily the HOLY GRAIL of getting things started... Just might help!
