Bold of you to assume that the 10-13ft tall HUGE Solar even cares about disguise charms.

I really hope that character app mentions how lonely it feels and what it does to your psyche when you're unable to enter most buildings, when you have to make your own clothes using needles and thread so small you can't even hold them between your fingers, when you have to spend most of your day hunting and foraging because your body mass probably requires 8,000 calories per day (a lot of it meat to keep up your muscle mass) and it ain't like Creation has McDonald's: what it does to your brain when you're so far removed from the human experience even prior to Exaltation, in other words.

I'll be honest. I don't care about the rules. I care about the very first sentence in this paragraph. Rules should neither entitle nor excuse anyone behaving a certain way.

I understand very well the need for those in power to have rules that justify their actions to those of us without power, but I agree here nevertheless. Allowing someone to game the rules to break their spirit is not a success of the system, it's a perversion.

You would not believe how many times I've had a char fall for someone and THEN go check out their PB and I'm like 'oh wow that person is wildly unattractive (to me)'

Somewhat related, people have been trying to hit on me for years by complimenting my PB's attractiveness, and not for my life can I think of a response to that. Uh... thanks for thinking someone who isn't me is pretty enough to be worth your attraction, I guess?

@Kestrel said in Diversity Representation in MU*ing:

Am I the only one whose sexual orientation changes depending on who I'm dealing with?

I'm gay when I'm lonely and ace-spectrum when my self-respect is functioning correctly.

@Kestrel said in Separating Art From Artist:

From a quick glance at that wiki article, I don't support that at all.

But in the UK we have laws against discrimination at the workplace, which also covers things like verbal harassment, workplace bullying, hate speech, etc. (Note: I am not a lawyer so may be misusing terms, but these are the basics as I understand them and my employee rights.)

You still need to give a valid reason for firing someone. Going on a racist tirade is just allowed to be one of them.

This is 100% not a danger to me. This is a benefit to me. I shouldn't have to put up with horrible, unprofessional, bigoted treatment at work. If it occurs I can go to HR.

In America, we have been fighting bitterly for more than a hundred years against ever introducing any legislation that includes the words "all people are equal under the law."

Also really hope you critique every game over needing to track their characters' caloric intake to make sure they maintain their stats.

Only games where divinely granted power alienating you from humanity is the general point, because making a character who is already alienated from humanity by preexisting factors and not exploring how much more or how much faster Exaltation fucks with your head would feel like a seriously dropped ball.

Some topics don't deserve civil discourse.

      I disagree with this sentiment.

I wonder if Kestrel is using "civil discourse" the way Neo-Nazis use it, to describe conversation that is required to validate attacks on marginalized people as being 'just words' that you must rebut their right to make. You know, like,

SHITBAG: All Jews should die in ovens.
DECENT HUMAN BEING: Fuck you endlessly. That's repugnant and calling you a garbage person is an insult to trash.
SHITBAG: Wow, so much for civil discourse! You can't even debate my ideas without descending into personal attacks!
DEPRESSING NUMBER OF PEOPLE: Wow, Shitbag is right, I can't believe how uncivil Decent Human Being was!

(thank you for reading my one-act play)

All of this talk about people getting involved in drama about sex makes me think I put off really unapproachable vibes. I've had that happen precisely once, and it wasn't stemming out of organic RP. A friend and I decided to try something and a third party got upset.

Now I just have to figure out whether my unapproachable vibes are of the awesome variety or of the not awesome variety. Am I an imposing tiger or am I stinky cheese

Without knowing your characters, I'd guess it's presentation. It's not hard to spot the characters who are meant to fuck. If you don't send out those vibes, you mostly don't get picked for it.

My favorite new author is a struggling young artist & I started supporting him on Patreon last year, in October. The tier I subbed at gets you a handwritten thank you card, a bookmark, stickers, and the best part - a collectible fridge magnet in the shape of one of the cans of the canned human meat they eat in the cannibalistic post-apocalyptic setting of the novels: "Good Boy" made of healthy young people, "Foi Ras" made from the liver of people that were force-fed corn, etc. It's grim, I love it.

Anyway! I subbed in October. So that's October, November, December, and now the end of January. I didn't get any of the things in the mail! I was so miffed, and since I finished reading all the books to-date anyway, I cancelled the sub and added the reason was not getting the tier stuff. This was like 2 days ago. TODAY, I get a package in the mail from him with all the stuff and a personalized note apologizing that it took so long and including some extra freebies - including the full set of the magnets!

I feel terrible for being an impatient asshole, but I'm too fucking embarrassed to re-sub. What do I do? So annoying!

You are the wronged party. Your re-sub is forgiveness, not an admission of guilt.

As a Dane, I'm not going to even pretend to deny that I don't fall on my ass laughing helplessly when I see Americans talk about their viking heritage.

Some of them do know what they're talking about. Most of them think they're descended from Vikings the show.

Maybe it's a regional thing, but where I am, that's mostly an attempt to not to say the words "I'm a Nazi."

@Ganymede You're making the mistake of thinking that pleasure is desirable for women. The purpose of them is to have babies. Enjoying sex is not necessary and possibly even sinful.

I love that men have crafted a religion in which their inability to give a woman an orgasm is a sign of virtue.

      What is animal crossing?

It's a text-based puzzle game where you try to figure out why animals other than chickens were on one side of the road but are now on the other. The answers are randomized each playthrough, so it's not as easy to cheat as you might think.

When, exactly, did we collectively decide that "well, it's day one release" was an excuse for a game to be buggy?

When we decided self-respect was less important to us than making sure the hype prophecies we tell ourselves about the toys we play with are self-fulfilling. I'm bad with dates but I think it was about eight years ago.

A Star Wars game where no one is under 40. You lived through the collapse of the Empire and rebel or loyalist it sucked and you had to make it work and now the First Order is here and ugh, these fucking kids. While they go around having their climactic angst-ridden one on one battles or whatever you're out there keeping the galaxy running, thwarting evil, being evil, smuggling, trying to build something that's going to survive the god damn collapse of the First Order why do they keep thinking something better is going to come around maybe we should kill all the engineers that major in death stars.

This idea is delightful to me, especially since the thrust of the movies the First Order appears in seems to be, "People would rather repeat history than learn from it."

I've been making the same argument over here, reminding folks that as a matter of international law they are different. Seems nobody cares.

It's not about the law. It never was. If it was, then people would care what the law actually says. It's about white supremacists wanting to be white supremacists while pretending they're not white supremacists, that's all.
