@Derp - Exalted has many varied mind control/social persuasion/I win buttons, and a kind of social combat system? I haven't familiarized myself with 3e yet, mostly out of protest because of how craft/martial arts/performance is broken up... but I do know there is a persuasion-style skill.

I'm also kind of in the non-WoD category? I've had a recent obsession with Battletech/Mechwarrior RPG, am dabbling with Exalted, and am putting far more thought than I'd like into making a Pokemon version of the FFG Genesys system. So... whee?

ETA Sleep makes for cranky me. Buuuut I've been plugging Mummy longer than some of your options have even existed.

The bonus part about intimacies is they don't change all that often, so you can't just up and go 'I have an intimacy against the thing you just told me about'... unless you have a power that lets you.

Crafting in Exalted has always been weird. It bothers my that Melee is used for every kind of combat with a weapon, medicine is used for not only healing and bioengineering but also psychology (kind of), and sail is used for not only using boats of every kind but also flying vessels... but craft? You need a different skill to craft different items. See also: martial arts being broken down into different forms, and performance now being broken down into different things (dance, oratory, instrument)

I also approve of Water World shenanigans. Followup obligatory Spelljammer mention, so you can land your space boats on said vast ocean. Majikully.

@tinuviel I am extra rambly at the moment. AHEM. You choose what they DO, but not the success or outcome of their actions - that's up to the dice (or the sytem itself allowing you to handwave things).

It's also a proposal for a new way to look at it. Yes, you type the words. You set up the character from birth onwards. But you also need to accept the outcome that the system spits out for you.

I should probably sleep and come back to this with better brainpower.

My band nerd self is showing through here: having done Drum Corps on the world class level (in WoD terms, I'd say... Expression 2-3, with specialties in Dance, Music, (specific instrument), and some bullshit rule that lets you tack on a 4th of something for the lolz). Within 2 weeks of finals, I could still play the notes... standing still. Not running around a field like a madwoman.

Better example: take Michael Phelps, right now, and throw him in the water. Has he kept up his regimen from the olympics? Sure, he's probably still damn fast. But is he Athletics 5/Swimming/Butterfly/Sith Lord Hoodie fast?

There WAS one for a year or so, on... not City of Hope, but the semi-clone game. It ended, and there were talks of another setting happening sometime, not sure if it's gone anywhere.

Yeah, I would totally brainstorm alternative money making methods. Coded paychecks if you have npc employment, for one. A pile of money if you're a douchey noble.

I've always thought that some sort of tracker for time spent on things on (or off) screen would be useful, if annoying. I've only seen it implemented in an... okay-way (not perfect, but not terrible) on Shadowrun: Denver. But there is absolutely no way to earn money on that game outside of either going on shadowruns, or being paid by shadowrunners. They also don't track the time put in, so even if you should be busy for a week doing one task, there is no mechanism in place preventing you from doing another task in that time frame*, aside from threat of maybe a slap on the wrist in the event you are caught.

*this is regardless of intent. Doing this on purpose is obviously cheating, but you could do it entirely on accident, too.

Age of Alliances is also a thing if you're feeling up for randomness. Some folks do group apps and can start with their own capital ship bases! Loners have to fight an uphill battle for cybernetics. Fun times!

As in they literally sing, diagetically, and cannot talk to each other and plan because... SINGING.

And when the song stops, so do their attacks and magical girl invulnerability powers. BECAUSE SINGING!
