Oh that was me! I think. I misclicked and then clicked again and it went back to 0.

And if I were more dedicated to being a pest I would do that all the time to all sorts of posts now that I know it insta-notifies.

I'm playing "working on a game instead of roleplaying in another game."

I also have a lucifuge on Fallcoast that I have roleplayed three times (and enjoyed intensely each of those).

@Glitch I love Brandon Sanderson's magic systems! Really love them. They make me overlook his sometimes questionable and very chipper plotting.

I love a lot about Arx and Apos's design, I truly do, and I'm excited to see how players like it.

I don't do this to cashiers because it feels invasive to go after their tag but do historically sometimes go 'Hi, <name>!' when the waiter tells the table their name. It usually makes them laugh but maybe I'm annoying and they just don't know how else to react. I CAN STOP. Are there waiters here who want me to stop doing this?

BB if making people uncomfortable with my loud and friendly ways is wrong, I don't want to be right.

Huh, I was exactly the opposite. I liked Batman, and Bruce Wayne, and ESPECIALLY Alfred (omg Jeremy Irons), but got really tired of "Superman Reads Mean Tweets".

Mad respect to Lois Lane for continuing to live her life and get shit done even with a big mopey boyfriend bullet zooming in and out of her life.

    • RE: Coming Soon: Arx, After the Reckoning

In the case of Arx, there is a LOT of plot waiting. There are planned 'seasons'.

I mean, I don't want to spoil anything, but there's very little about the state of the game at the beginning that is set in stone. It's meant to be a story, and stories move. In this case, magic is very much a part of the world, it's just not the done thing in Arx (the city). as the story opens.

The game's design is not at all shying away from magic users, or trying to avoid magic as a plot device.

Honestly it varies wildly from job to job and company to company. I work for a big storage company, international, but our culture is very relaxed. Everyone wears jeans, everyone goes by their first name.

Sometimes I call be-nametagged people by their names. Is it creepy? I'm just trying to treat them like people! No one's ever called me creepy for it, but I have attractive woman privilege.

So I don't know if anyone here cares for AMC comic drama a la the Walking Dead, but...I am kind of pumped for Preacher.

The new Star Wars movies seem to work really well - and they are led by ladies. Ray isn't a great heroine, she's a great character, and I can't wait to watch Rogue One when it comes out. Would I have liked a kick-ass Jedi guy spinning lightsabers? Sure, I watched Anakin do it for two movies and it was kind of blah, not because he wasn't male enough but because those films sucked. Conversely I can't bear to watch Aeon Flux or Resident Evil, but that's not because females star as action heroes in those, it's because they were horrible!

Why did you have to remind me Aeon Flux was a thing? Dear god, that movie was the cinematic equivalent of a Greyhound station bathroom in Amarillo, Texas.

Have you actually been to the bus station in Amarillo, TX? Because I have. This made me lol.

I'm all for good roles being played by whoever auditions the best, but it's sort of a separate conversation, isn't it? Whitewashing is a very specific issue, and is an issue simply because there's so little diversity to start with. If non white actors were regularly being cast in leading roles, or even dominated the casting in Hollywood movies about their cultures, it wouldn't seem as noteworthy. But, that isn't the case, and as tired as people may get of them...these conversations are the first step to changing that.

And not for nothing, Iron Fist is not just a rich boy turned martial arts vigilante. He's the rich son of a rich man who discovered a mystical city where everything is martial arts, honor and dragons and everything is Chinesey. There he becomes the bestest of all the scrubby native students, and duels a dragon that burns a dragon tattoo on his chest, and learns how to channel his Chi into an amazing IRON FIST.

Man, reminiscing about it has killed any enthusiasm I had for the series. Whoops.

    • RE: What would a superhero game need to be/do to bring in a new player base?

@fatefan Why not offer all four? I'd be thrilled to see a game cater to so many playstyles, as long as there's not like "You have to talk to Superman/Wolverine for this because this is their thing, bub".

Oh, I wasn't clear, I guess! I dont' at all think that casting all-white makes it any less bad. I think probably we should just own that our golden age heroes were created in a time where there was a lot less diversity and adjust accordingly. I'd love to see an Asian Iron Fist.

I would love to see Godfrey Gao, etc, as just about anything, tbh. Woo boy.

Also, with the opt-in nature of the crafting system (IE No one will be yelling at you that you are naked if you don't have a crafted outfit), and the fact that we aren't going to make you buy food or stink if you don't bathe, it shouldn't be too terribly painful for people who are very casual and/or not interested in that type of 'minigame'.

@Vorpal Look, I love Tilda Swinton. I LOVE her. I am always happy to see that she is in a movie, so much as I cringe at the whitewashing, I can't even be mad.

And I get that Danny Rand was white in the comic origin but that's a product of a more casually homogenous and appropriative time. I don't think everyone who knows Kung Fu needs to be Asian, you're right. Still, in the case of the Iron Fist, he learned Kung Fu by absorbing all kinds of spiritual martial arts wisdom.
