RE: The 100: The Mush
Anything can "go bad", and by go bad I mean if it has moving parts entropy will eventually kill it, and if it doesn't, errors can be introduced digitally/corrupted.
Bad RAM is not at all uncommon, whether in personal computers, servers, or big SAN data storage systems!

I love it, crotchety Jewish miner ghosts. Is this related to the myths that you can distract fairies by making them count rice or sand? I've never really explored the fae stuff. But once, I saw a bunnygirl.

They are all OWoD racial types, mostly Changelings.
Redcaps are pure appetite and fury. Pooka are shape-shifting fae. Satyrs are those humans with goat legs from Greek mythology turned into a faerie kith. Most people play them as horny goats, but there is another tack to take, which is that of the intellectual. Nockers are another kith/race of fae who are frustrated perfectionists, loosely based on the mythological Welsh knockers (who were the ghosts of miners) and somehow turned into crotchety Jewish stereotypes by White Wolf.
Mummies are supposed to be refined immortal souls taking up residence in the bodies of slackers, at least in Revised. Most of the ones I have run into on games have been some sort of celebrity, for some reason.
And it just keeps getting better! All the upvotes for you.

A subtle mage. Someone who understood the ramifications and consequences of being able to manipulate reality.
A profoundly terrible and noble sidhe, whose motivations are completely inscrutable and nigh-alien in nature. A master manipulator, but without veering into cliche.
An intelligent redcap, whose cunning surpasses their ferocity.
A mummy that isn't a celebrity, but more of a joyful sage, who is slow to anger and operates on a very refined and cautious plane, due to the risks of being judged.
An intellectual satyr.
A pooka evangelical/prosperity gospel preacher.
A nocker who says more than 'fuck'.
Real talk, I have no idea if half of these are actual WoD archetypes but I unreservedly love them.
Like an intelligent redcap? Is that a sentient fungus? Why do I even think that? Who knows? Why is the implication that mummies are usually celebrities? What's a nocker? So many questions, but the pitch is solid.

These poor guys. I mean the women had obviously seen these things tweeted at them, but ouch.
*edited for the actual video instead of the half-length clip!

RE: Finding roleplay
It's totally okay not to enjoy things other people put a lot of work into (like Tolkien).
It might not be fun for you to participate in, as there's no sense of purpose for your presence. They probably still churned out a serviceable story in the interest of making the sphere state new and shiny. Like a wonderfully built world. (Like Tolkien)

RE: RL Anger
How do you provide a listening ear if not by asking a leading question like "are you ok"? I def don't disagree with the sentiment, just curious how my suggestion wasn't offering a sympathetic ear.

RE: RL Anger
@deadculture
Or you can say "that sucks that that happened to you. Are you ok?"Human beings do not require lectures to accept comfort.

RE: RL Anger
I wasn't championing a cause, and the only one I have championed here is feminism/gender equality. If me being antagonistic to some dorks on an internet message board is damaging to FEMINISM then crap, maybe women don't deserve equal rights.
But why not just say you find my attitude or demeanor distasteful? I mean, you have. Repeat it, for better accuracy? Or, I don't know, just ignore me. You don't get me, probably don't want to, and that's fine. You have not even correctly guessed at what I'm doing here - specifically here, in this thread!
But you're right, I am being very hard to dialogue with. On purpose. With forethought.

Seriously, @mietze, you need to lighten up and learn to take a compliment. Maybe if you ask nicely (or just state your own perspective) Derp will tell you how should react to things.
You make me facepalm even when I'm agreeing with you. You do the cause you're trying to defend more damage than good by defending it the way you do.
Wait. Which cause am I damaging (instead of defending), here?

RE: Finding roleplay
So why not ask someone in that group to run a PRP where you can be integrated IC? That would be very reasonable turnabout.

Wikis seem to be a much bigger deal in WoD games - but then, I've only ever played Firan and a couple of WoD games. I much, much preferred Firan's grid because it had no ooc lounge room for people to just hang out in, and public places were public places.
If you ask me, hanging out in the OOC room is too high a price to pay for finding RP. No matter how great the RP ends up being.
Preach. You might find rp or even make a new friendship, BUT AT WHAT COST.

Wikis seem to be a much bigger deal in WoD games - but then, I've only ever played Firan and a couple of WoD games. I much, much preferred Firan's grid because it had no ooc lounge room for people to just hang out in, and public places were public places. There were RP hubs that moved around every couple of weeks, where people could get a bonus XP or other perk rolled on a timer for hanging out there.
Usually when I am online roleplaying it's because someone said "want to rp?". However I do, on occasion, check out new communities.
From there it's asking on public or the equivalent how people usually go about finding RP, and then doing that, if I feel the urge. If it's commands, I can use the commands. If it's 'hang out in the OOC area until people 'know' you so they will tell you the actual way people find RP", I probably don't do that.
I'm a bit at a loss on those games, as my usual MO when joining a new RP community is to come up with an easy way to interact with strangers, then park myself in a public place and do so. It's foolproof if people roam the grid IC. It's useless if they don't.

RE: RL Anger
The conversation was fine until @derp jumped in and started mansplaining about..how to adult? I don't even know. Because he is a moron, I am taunting him. A, because it's fun for me. B, because who knows? Maybe someday he will 'listen' to himself with a critical 'ear' and have an epiphany.
Doubtful, but hey - there are two sides to every story. Now, if @mietze asked me to stfu about it, I would! It's not a joke, for all that I'm having some fun with the dumb.
It's fucked up and disconcerting when people spring pressure-heavy situations and discussion on you, and doubly so when you don't know them and they are doing so dishonestly. And then when you complain about it, you get the joy of having adult responsibilities explained to you by a moron.
It's hard out here for a bitch.

RE: RL Anger
Is what the guy is or is not relevant? If Mietze doesn't want the attention, and doesn't want to talk to him/catch up/entertain his attention at all, that's her choice.
She doesn't even need a reason. She has them, but she doesn't need them. If someone doesn't want to talk with you or interact with you on a personal level, you 'not being the devil' doesn't mean they should, anyway.
-
RE: RL Anger
Also, you are all missing the point. This isn't a guy who just showed up like "Hey I remembered how cool you were and looked you up, let's hang out!"
That's so far from what Mietze described it's not even relevant.
If a guy randomly tried to book you to show off a Kirby vacuum at his apartment and then, when you canceled, showed up and only THEN admitted he'd been in love with you and your perfect white skin since high school and stalked you and tried to trick you into meeting him without admitting the prior acquaintance first, THEN your reaction to him showing up would be relevant.
It's got nothing to do with 'being able to take care of yourself' and everything to do with "creepy people are creepy and, more importantly, unpredictable". Can't nobody 'take care of themselves' your way out of chloroform or a slow campaign of terror in which a totally nice person who doesn't understand why you won't take their love systematically turns your life into a nightmare.

RE: RL Anger
Also, an order of protection does nothing but give the police a clear suspect/reason for arrest after you get assaulted or offed or what have you.
If asking nicely, not nicely, and insistently doesn't keep someone away from you, the odds of a piece of paper threatening legal action are not much more likely to help - at least, most evidence is pretty inconclusive. Also, violating a restraining order is (at least in many states) a misdemeanor no matter how many times it is violated.
