@three-eyed-crow Absolutely. I know I've seen some set ups where the basic theme and setting where once that had me drooling, but the actual execution made me run for the hills, so definitely agree. Why 30s/40s is because I personally love those settings for stories. I watch movies from those eras on a regular basis, and noir and pulp are in my top three favorite genres overall. But it's not a must have, hence the interest check. Plus depending on the game I could always have a sub section/part of the city or something that has that vibe.

The important question here is what would you call a flock of Gangrels.

Typing on my phone so forgive any typos - narrative choices is good. The ability to leap and grab the chandelier and douse the enemies with arrows etc... Anyone know of any systems built for that?

RE: Game Restarts
Darkwater effectively restarted - it closed in 2011(? Could be wrong) and reopened from an old saved DB this January. ICly the time between has a whole metaplot attached, quite cleverly designed complete with "this is why you don't remember all the details and why you and these other PCs haven't seen each other during".

RE: Valorous Dominion
Going to echo @nyctophiliac - the friendliness of the staffers and the friendliness of the playerbase is a big part of what reeled me in after the amazing setting had me hooked. I am a little nervous about the long term health of my delicate gothic ivory tower character, but I already have backup concepts if she does trip and fall and catch the bubonic plague.

@fatefan Yes, I love the Wild Cards series. Astro City is another favorite. I definitely want that "quilt" effect of a vast array of different hero characters working (more or less) together.

At this point I would give a kidney for a completely original superhero game. No DC no Marvel but really original with all OC characters.
Yeah, if I make another game, it'll probably be that. Original universe superhero.
I wish to subscribe to your newsletter then! I think there'd be a lot of interest. To my knowledge there isn't any right now: there's DC/Marvel games that allow OC characters but that's it.

RE: What Is Missing For You?
@lemon-fox My favorite superhero trope was always the 'group that fights crime while also being on a tv show' thing. Especially if you give it some kind of cat fight twist that's clearly obvious OOC but might still trip characters up ICly. Did the Blazing Wonder really hook up with Fantastic Horse's sidekick/girlfriend Megafox while they were trapped in the X Dimension? Find out next week!
ETA: Granted, that might be more suitable for a tabletop set, or for inter-group tension. I'm not sure how you'd set that up to be MU* wide. Unless there are several competing shows.

@sunny How do you feel about being part of a gothic, spooky, geeky bunch of weirdos?
-
RE: In development: pure OC superhero game
@sunny Ack! No, you're right. A week is way too short. Actually, really thinking about it, what I'd do in that situation is ask the rest of their team at the two week mark and see how long they'd want to wait to proceed.

RE: Heroic Sacrifice
I vaguely recall there's another game... Arthurian game? Something? That has this really funky set up for the characters where you can end up playing three+ for the price of one, effectively. You go through time? Something like that?
... Don't look at me that way, I have a perfect recollection of all the kinds of coffees I've ever liked, ok. My brain knows what is truly important.
But it was set up in a way where it was absolutely definitely clear that the characters themselves were less important, and it was about the story you were making and the health of the group. Place. Thing. Ugh. On the other hand that meant that our involvement in the characters themselves was also greatly lessened, and we were more focused on developing the... settlement? and how the group as a whole interacted with the other factions in the kingdom at the time. As I recall walking away from it I found it was a fun novelty, but it didn't have the satisfaction I get from really getting into a single character. It very much felt like an Arthurian tabletop version of Dwarf Fortress, pretty much.
I do wonder, thinking about it and that The Greatest Generation game if maybe that would be a partial solution, though. Follow the same group of people through time, play Joe then Joe's son then Joe III then Joeanna daughter of Joe III etc. Speed up the time some, maybe? This is spring in 111, now it's summer in 112, etc. Or faster yet, maybe. Timewarping could be an interesting feature to emphasize the story over the characters whilst still keeping you involved.

RE: Valorous Dominion
@Lotherio - I was actually going to ask you - it seems the grid doesn't yet have a good social spot for easy mingling and chatting, what would in modern reality be pubs/cafes/etc. I was thinking a tavern would be nice, and I would love to build it and desc it. I know taverns existed already in Rome and Byzantine. I don't know if it would be feasible for Lucrezia or the Ganza's house to own it, but I just want to see it on the grid, and having an NPC own it might also help make it a neutral space. What do you think?

@lotherio When are the murderbot character generation rules getting added to the wiki? Asking for a friend.
I'm not sure what the murderbot character generation rules are. There's no chance of a character dying in the Pendragon Rules during CG? There was chances for father/grand fathers and such to die if using expanded CG to define what happened with them. There remains a small chance during winter phase to die (due to attribute loss) but in current edition, sickness and plague do not show up in random rolls. But maybe i'm missing something in the question too, I confuse myself half the time.
To explain, he's being cheeky - we were being silly on the public channel on game last night discussing the game's theme as if it were a made up cyberpunk game where you could play mutated superheroic murderbots (with katanas!). I think he assumed you'd seen the conversation. But I am glad you answered the question so seriously because I had no idea the expanded CG had that potential for the father/grandfather explanations! Neat.

RE: Interest Gauge: City of Mist Game
@wizz I love this idea, I'm already enthused to play! Just to confirm - you would be doing all OC too, right? It's not going to be City of DC/Marvel?
