@secretfire I bailed for that reason too. I was so excited thinking it was a James Bond spy game. :C I thought we'd get to do political intrigue and epic fisticuffs on moving trains and all that fun stuff.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
So currently looking at taking my Changeling alt Ida on here (I am Ida@here!) and there's a whole bunch of other Darkwater characters coming too. I'm also already plotting out an alt because I am clearly mad, and leaning towards making her the first vampire I've played in almost two decades. Probably Mekhet, definitely a scholarly type with some kind of enormous library. I'd like to spin her towards being a resource for as many people as possible, including non-vamps, will see how that turns out.
Alpha is being very promising. I love the rough write ups for theme I've seen so far, and staff seems very friendly and approachable.

RE: Let's talk about TS.
@vulgarkitten We felt that sexually assaulting people was more a super villain thing, so denied it. I can't remember if he came back with a tentacle concept or if that was another guy.

@kay Orgazmo is a great superhero concept.
We actually had a guy try to app that at CC. Mentalist with the super power to give people orgasms. He felt he'd be great at fighting crime.

RE: Let's talk about TS.
@arkandel Yeah, exactly. I think of TS stuff in games like hot spices - if you're not careful it will overwhelm everything else and you end up with something one note and boring.

RE: Let's talk about TS.
Of course sex is inherent to the superhero setting, much like any other setting: you have amazingly fit people working together under harrowing circumstances while dressed in skin tight leather and rubber and nylon etc. Insert Wonder Woman bondage pic here.
However, that's also why (I think) superhero games put in rules to limit sexual things. Because if you don't, you don't have a superhero game anymore, you have Shang with capes. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's a wholly different genre and flavor. I remember on the first Crucible City game we had to implement rules for that very reason, because we had people app in TS concepts, not superheroes.

@kay I will totally drag Denver over there if you wanted her to come.
incoherent gleeful noises YOU ARE SO ON! I thought you weren't interested in other games! Absolutely yes!

@burgerslave Mr. Harris! Some of us are eyeing this place to have our characters travel to http://www.musoapbox.net/topic/2283/san-francisco-paris-of-the-west - if we don't hit up the upcoming Miami game. Perhaps an idea?

I don't know whether this is useful to you or not: NodeBB New User Approval.
It would prevent those one-shot users from posting.
With a little tweaking you could move an approved user back into the unapproved group temporarily to make their posts require approval. This sounds like a great idea.

RE: San Francisco: Paris of the West
@darc Yay wiki! No worries re: xp, I'm not at all concerned about my xp matching up, I would be happy to start from scratch in that sense! I just want to continue my character's story and I know some games don't allow you to play characters you've also played elseMU*. I was playing her on Darkwater (much love to @Cobaltasaurus !) which unfortunately had to close a little while ago. If you're ok with that there might be a small group of us coming in, and we're all pretty active to very active players, and also happy to run plots etc, so not a clique.

I'm excited! Will the alpha include a wiki? How would you feel about people transferring characters from other games?

RE: Genosha (Interest Poll)
@tempest As one of the people who's gone from 'here's my weird idea what do you guys think' to 'In construction! Hammering out x y z!' entirely because I posted my idea in the development forum, I have not found this to be the case. The feedback I got was very helpful, and it also got me people popping out of the woodwork offering to assist (including a potential coder!) that I would never have made contact with otherwise. tl;dr If I hadn't posted on MSB, it would still only be an idea in my head.
ETA @RizBunz - I never got to vote but for what it's worth I thought it sounded like a very fun idea. Whenever you do decide it's time to develop it further please put up a notice, I'd love to see more. -
RE: In development: pure OC superhero game
Slowed down a little bit because RL work was kicking my ass, we're back on track and I have a bit of vacation about to come up where I'm hoping to get some Icons game testing done to see how well it actually works in an online environment.
Some more thoughts: I am going to copy one of Crucible City's rules once I find it in my old logs. Superheroes only, which I think everyone already had assumed, but there's also some specifics in there about being actively heroic that I remember really liking.

RE: Favorite music streaming service?
I do YouTube with a bit of Amazon music. I actually do have an MP3 collection, but mainly for my Swedish and Scandinavian 80s/90s pop that's impossible to find in good quality online.

RE: Valorous Dominion
Hey @Lotherio - what do you think about ICly thematic condiments?
We were discussing condiments on the public channel just now and I went researching and found some neat things. While we don't have ketchup since no tomatoes, we do have the oft mentioned fish sauce/garum, and I have found that there is a specific Italian version of it! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colatura_di_Alici
Also, historically iRL there was mustard - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mustard_(condiment)#History - "The Romans were probably the first to experiment with the preparation of mustard as a condiment. They mixed unfermented grape juice (the must) with ground mustard seeds (called sinapis) to make "burning must", mustum ardens — hence "must ard". A recipe for mustard appears in De re coquinaria, the anonymously compiled Roman cookbook from the late 4th or early 5th century" "as a glaze for spit-roasted boar." By the 10th century, monks in Paris began their own production. Dijon, France, became a recognized center for mustard making by the 13th century. The popularity of mustard in Dijon is evidenced by written accounts of guests consuming 320 litres of mustard creme in a single sitting at a gala held by the Duke of Burgundy in 1336."
Also, while we don't have mayonnaise, going by RL history we would have aoili or something like it: "The first mention of a condiment similar to aoli comes from historian Pliny the Elder, who described a common Roman sauce of garlic and olive oil called aleatum, after the Latin word for garlic. Since Pliny died in the Vesuvius eruption of 79 A.D., this makes the aoli at least 2,000 years old, and it is probably much older than that for it have become commonplace by Plinys time. Because the Roman empire expanded throughout Europe and north Africa, with an entourage of bureaucrats, tradesmen, soldiers and households bringing their cuisine with them, historians theorize that Italy is the true home of aoli."
What do you think? It's details like this that I love to geek out over.

Mildly off topic but every time I open up this thread I hear Salt and Peppa in my head, then I realize how old that song is and by extension how old I am.
Let's talk about TS, baby, let's talk about pose and scene, let's talk about all the drama and the mayhem that may be
Heard it perfectly in tune with the song.
I blame you and all the upvoters for encouraging this. And a one, two, three...
Too hot for plot, make your connection drop
They use their writing skills to get whatever they don't got
Other characters drool like fools, even the ones not human
The TS is a hit because the immersion is all-consuming
Fame, +jobs, bbposts, crazy xp
They never desced anyone unassuming
They scene with group leaders, discriminating readers
Coders, staffers, everybody's doing it or done it,
Or at least used to do it, you know you know who's into it
And believe me, you, it's as good as true
When the chips fall down almost everyone likes to ---
But sometimes even when they have it all in the bag and should be glad
They will be mad and sad and feelin' bad
Thinkin' about the RP they never had
No long term plots, just TS, followed next with a page and a vote
That that last scene was so hottt, quote unquote
Let's talk about TS, baby, (sing it)
let's talk about pose and scene, (sing it, sing it)
let's talk about all the drama
