These games always get an influx of population that, while not massive, is bigger than the standard non-WoD MU*, so there's an audience that likes playing a half-dozen alts in the Game of Marriages to some degree.
I think Game of Marriages is more of a fallback option, and the easiest way to build RP without needing any sort of staff hand-holding. You get scenes re: arranging it, etc, etc. You get a bit of politics, you get a bit of romance, you get a bit of everything if there's nothing else going on. And to those players who only want to play Game of Marriages, they can do that even if you provide something else for the greater game. Its not an either/or scenario.
The main game appeal in my experience is being able in a non-modern WOD setting. Playing in fantasy worlds offers a different sort of fun. That's what draws players even to the really sub-par L&L games, the ones you know are being run by idiots.

RE: Good or New Movies Review
I thought it was Tarantino's weakest movie, but I still thought it was alright. Just not the great movie I'd expected to find.

RE: RL things I love
That feeling you get when you finished something, and it was good work, and you can actually feel a bit proud of yourself.

RE: RL Anger
Why do hedges have to be trimmed? Or trees?
Why does my 80 year old grandpa need a fucking perfect looking garden anyway? He never spends any time in it. And if I don't do the work, the stubborn old bastard'll do it himself, and even if he won't complain he'll sit there afterwards rubbing his joints and his swollen hands and you know he's hurting. And if he gets up on a ladder I get these visions of him falling off and breaking something, and at that age you're in deep shit then.
Fuck I hate gardening. I hate it, I hate it, I hate it. I imagine burning it all down.
But ultimately I do it anyway.

RE: Good TV
New GoT trailer just came out. I didn't realize how much I wanted some more GoT until I saw it.

RE: Space Lords and Ladies
@Packrat I like. I even like Space Elves (let's not call them that, though).

RE: McGregor V Diaz
Same. Both the main card fights were pretty awesome. I thought McGregor had it after the first round, having bloodied Diaz up completely. But then those jabs, man. McGregor said it himself, he went into a bit of panic mode when all those heavy shots just kept failing to knock Diaz out, and as a result he chased it and got tagged too much. That take down in the end? That was total panic, and I knew the moment he did it that he was fucked. Diaz has mad BJJ, and his chokes are among the best in the world.
Credit to McGregor for daring to think big, though. I don't think this is the end; defend the belt at featherweight a couple of times, then try moving up again.
Also how about Misha coming back in the end. That's true spirit. I was really happy for her, and now that division is just so full of possibilities. Ronda vs Misha, and if Misha wins that's an easy rematch with Holm, and if Ronda wins that's.. also an easy rematch with Holm. I do think Holm shows she's good enough to be Champion again.

I watched the first episode, but I didn't continue. I'm basically saving it up for when there's a drought.
It kept growing on me until I couldn't stop watching.
I don't wanna say there's too much great TV these days.. but there almost is. I can't keep up with everything I wanna watch, either. I often just file things away for binge watching when I've got a slow weekend or something.

RE: Good TV
@Arkandel Almost back with its final season, that's where it is! God I love Banshee. It became my ultimate guilty pleasure once Spartacus left the airwaves.
ETA: Seriously, though, am I the only one who watched The Expanse? I haven't loved a single syfy show since Battlestar Galactica, but finally some in-space sci-fi I can love.

RE: Good TV
@Gingerlily I watched the first episode, and I liked it. I've just not had time to watch anymore. See, you're wrong. SOMEONE DOES LIKE AT LEAST ONE SHOW YOU DO!
Btw, I checked out the Expanse. Actually liked.

I was a mere babe of 2 or so when the movie came out
I wasn't even born. I too like the Director's Cut better.
And hey, in the modern spirit of hollywood only producing remakes and sequels, there'll be a new one coming.
BTW, I found Beasts of No Nation to be a pretty great movie, even if I winced through a lot of it. Idris Elba is one of my favorite actors, and he nails it in every scene.

Is it reasonable to treat the PCs of a couple as alts? Not in the you can't RP together sense but in the can't cause direct benefit to the couple's character sense?
No, its not reasonable.

By the way, how awesome it is that McGregor doesn't pull out of fights when he gets in these spots? I find it so interesting (and I think it really captures the imagination of fans, too) that he has this rock-solid confidence in himself and his team, while acting like a professional (goes to press conferences, does world tours, sells his fights, trains like a beast, etc).
I agree. Sure he's an obnoxious asshole half the time, but you can't knock a guy who never turns down a fight.
Contrast that to Aldo who usually only fought 1 time a year, and has since his loss to McGregor complained over and over again how he got robbed a rematch, and how he'd fight McGregor anytime, any day. Except, you know, when he got the call to replace RDA. Then he was out of shape and turned it down. I understand him, of course, and don't blame him for it, but showcases a different mentality.
Funny fact: Half of all of Connor's opponents fall out 6/12. So if you really, really, want that fight with him, you've got about even chance of getting it if you just stay in shape, even if you weren't originally scheduled to fight him. I'm wondering if he just gets so hard into people's heads that they overtrain to beat him, and thus injure themselves.

McGregor is going to destroy Diaz, I don't think it will be close.
I don't think so, either. Though I'm hoping it'll run for a few rounds before Conor knocks him out. Then again, Nate has some pretty good BJJ. He's going to have to submit Conor or I don't think he has a chance. He just doesn't have the knock out power, or the well rounded striking game of Conor.
As for Cerrone, yeah. He already fought this weekend, which was a good showing on his part, but a 2 week turn around seems short even for Cerrone.

McGregor V Diaz
I was horribly disappointed when I read the other day that RDA had bowed out of the fight with Conor McGregory (I had RDA to win), and unlike most of the MMA fans I've talked to, I'm not all that interested in watching him fight Nate Diaz at 170. Still, I know I'll be watching, because how can't you watch McGregor?! Love him or hate him, he always brings it.
Any other MMA fans out there who'll be joining me?
I favoring McGregory'll, btw. I never thought Nate was as good as his brother. It is pretty crazy to have the featherweight champion competing at welterweight, though!
Also Holly Holm's first title defense since crushing Ronda. I'm going to go with Holly on this one, notwithstanding Misha Tate being one of my favorite female fighters.

RE: Kinds of Mu*s Wanted
I remember kind of liking the Witcher 1's combat, though its years and years ago now. Getting the timings right and whatnot. I havent touched it since it came out, though. My main gripe was all the bugs at release.
