@derp I have been asking to learn it for a YEAR. They kept saying that my team was going to be phased out of doing it, that we weren't going to be doing any more, etc etc.

I KNEW better, from the queues. I asked, and I had someone VOLUNTEERING to just let me watch her do hers, while we were both working from home, and I could have watched her and listened in on everything through teams (Office computers are not set up the same as WFH, and this has caused an issue). I asked once a month, to be allowed to learn this.

Now they're trying to bully me into doing it before I am ready. And this is honestly a project you need two monitors to do. And with the laptop, clearly I do not have 2.

They're trying to make me feel guilty that Lisa has to claim my 4 tasks, when I know Lisa only claims like 3 at a time, tops. But no, I won't. Because if someone who has been doing it for over a YEAR is only claiming 3 at a time, why the HELL is the brand spanking new, not even fully trained person being assigned 4?!?

I may have called my contact point for that job I interviewed for on Wednesday.

Got some unexpected cash from a lawsuit. See stuff I've wanted to buy so I could make cold process soaps. Do math. Realize if I order this now, I can have soaps ready for early December.

Proceed to panic for even thinking it, because I don't even know if I could sell them.

That said, most ISP's can run cable through the walls/ceiling/etc. so that you can use a secondary modem/router to get an ethernet connection to your bedroom. But they will charge you for it.

Hence why I am not doing this option. I think I would probably need the complex's permission, too, and.. they're not super reliable on getting things done.

And this is why Genie now refuses to work for companies that try to insist that I use my own PC, provide no stipend to cover basic internet or work-related WFH expenses (desk, chair, etc.). They are already saving a fuckton of money in the lack of building lease, insurance costs, repairs and maintenance on said buildings, etc. They can afford to cover the cost of a laptop with the software they wish me to use, the internet I will need to do the job, and any reasonable purchases that need to be made to set up a home office.

And now you know I am in the hunt for a new job.

So this morning, there is a meeting - boss has no idea what it is (or so he says). Log in, show up, say hello. It's training for taking messages for that other project, for the call center from the City.

This is NOT my job. My job is outreach - AKA I make the calls out to the consumer/client/whatever you want to call them.

Last year, they tried to force me to do call center. I told them sure - as soon as they pay me what the people working in the call center make. (They live in one of the more expensive cities in the world, yes, they're making more than me) Subject got dropped.

So today after this little meeting/training/etc, I called my boss. "This is call center. WHY did you spend so much time hounding me to learn this project, just to take me off it? This is /not/ in my job description. I took this job to get AWAY from call center environments."

So now I need to do research and see if I refuse to do something not in my job description/something with a higher pay rate for those whose job it is, if I can get unemployment if they fire me for it.

If @Ganymede or @derp have any insight, or can point me in the right direction, I will adore you.

@ganymede Yeah. I just checked the job description for my position.

Nowhere does it state even so much as "other duties as assigned".
I took this job to get out of inbound call center.
I am about to make both my boss and his boss put in writing, that they are aware I have anxiety, and that they are aware I have brought up my concern that insisting I do something outside my job description, may exacerbate said anxiety.

I also already called my doctor.

They have herded us all into one chat. They want me to tell them when I am going off queue to type up the rest of my call notes (because nine seconds between calls is not enough when software is slower than molasses). I am supposed to tell them when I am going off queue for the rest room, etc. ( I am not a kid in school nor am I in prison, thanks. I need to pee, I'm going to go do it, and they can SMD)

They're trying to humiliate people who are off queue by calling them out in this chat.

We're not TRAINED for this job. People are QUITTING over this

My immediate boss to me: Macha, I know, just... just please don't say anything in the chat. Let them hang themselves with their unprofessional conduct. There are things being handled behind the scenes.

Me: I have other teammates in tears because they're being hounded, they don't know how to use this new software (I have some less tech-friendly teammates), they weren't trained on how to use it. And you want me to say nothing? You say it's being handled. When you KNOW how things have been handled around me since this all started? I'm supposed to TRUST something is going to be done? ... And here I thought you'd met me.

It's one thing for them to screw me over, and screw me around. But when my sweetest teammates are in tears and feeling sick over all this? Naw. Just naw.

I had a surgery go way wrong, and ended up in sudden menopause waaaaaay too young. HRT has saved lives... mainly those around me, because I woulda killed someone.

So now, work has taken away two holidays, on top of screwing everyone with the work load.

People are getting snarky and pushing back in chat (people that aren't me!).

It's like they are TRYING to implode.

Our complex just got bought out by another company. I REALLY do not want to move in the winter.

@ganymede No, they took me out of the chat for the work that was causing me anxiety. They took me off that task, and put me back on what I was originally supposed to be doing with the new training.

I went from taking incoming calls with pissed off people back to outreach where I actually get to help people.

This was actually what the accommodation asked for, to put me back on outreach. (Though I know they are hoping I fuck it up so they can write me up for being a PITA)

@Ganymede @Derp I am not living in a state of super heightened anxiety. I am not making my sugars roller coaster. I am so much happier in this moment, I almost ALMOST feel forgiving. (Almost).

ETA: Boss' boss just messaged me to ask me how I'm feeling. ... yeah save the fake sincerity.
