@derp I love doing eggs in the muffin tin. I also hate the dishsoap herb.

RE: Recipes and Shit
@greenflashlight I sauté diced tomatoes to go with my eggs. Hot pan, diced tomatoes, sprinkle of garlic salt or powder, pepper, and viola!

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@arkandel I really do hope it kills a lot fewer people. It's finally getting to the point that even people I know are careful.. are getting it. (My sister and best friend, currently)

RE: Dead Celebrities 2021 Edition
@betternow I still hear him in my head from the Replacements (I have a strange love for that movie) "I love to see a fat guy score." "Why?" "Because you get a fat guy spike, and then you get a fat guy dance!"

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@dvoraen Oh, no worries on that. I'm on my... fourth (?) type of long term insulin, my second or third short acting type, and my third biologic/chemo drug combo for my AS. I'm used to the Medication shuffle.

@too-old-for-this And so many little parts in sports movies, and the man was just... part of growing up, in my house. (We watched Football every Sunday and MNF too!)

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@kestrel His response was due to RL interactions with friends on Adderall.
But fuck stigma. I'm used to that shit.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
@faraday I always find it so interesting how DIFFERENT people with ADHD can be. Like how ADHD folks are way more likely for addiction. (looks at cousins, hmms)The only addiction I have is caffeine (possibly because of the ADHD, who knows) . But so many of the 'untreated ADHD' things mentioned apply to me.
I know adderall/whatever will not be a silver bullet to kill the problem. But combined with all the coping strategies I've learned in my life? I'm super filled with hope.

@too-old-for-this I pointed out to him I am the medical fucking misfit. As a diabetic, when most T1s are in a situation that makes their sugars spike? Mine drop. I'm such an interesting case with even 'normal' stuff that EVERY doctor's office I have ever been a patient at, I have been asked if it was okay if someone (usually a resident/student, but sometimes just another doctor/NP) could sit in on my appointment.
Here's hoping Adderall works.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
So, I was excited to tell a long time friend about the progress and the script.
his response. "Shit, Adderall? I hope that is not where you settle. I've never known that to be any good for anyone."
.. like really, dude?

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@wildbaboons Here's hoping that my insurance does not fuck off like that with the new ADHD script.

Well, now the pharmacy sent it back for prior auth, but.. still. I will have it. Eventually. YAY!

RE: The Work Thread
Boss brought over a little goodie bag of presents on Friday. Some candy, a nice candle, the ethernet cable he'd bought for me because the company wouldn't in spite of IT insisting that was the cause of my software problems (and I don't have a problem in non-work life), some scratch off tickets, and an Amazon gift card.
I felt almost guilty a moment, because I know I'm going to quit. And then they released another email of 'who got promoted a tier'. And someone else I trained, someone who was only part time for a large chunk of time, got bumped up to a Tier2, and I didn't. Of course, we all know WHY. Sooooo naw. I'm good.

Guys, it's finally happened! I have been given a script for adderall. YAY! Let's hope it works, eh?

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
I woke up this morning, feeling like utter trash. My sugars were double what they usually are (and without any real reason, I had been sleeping, I hadn't eaten anything unaccounted for.. so what gives?) I sat up, and the room spun. The high sugar spins were in full effect.
So I texted the boss, told him I had to try and get my sugars down (test for ketones every time I had to pee, etc) until things normalized. It took 3 hours for my sugars to get them down, and then get them down further so I could eat. At which point, I sat down for a minute...and passed out. Woke up at 1:30, and told the boss that yeah, sorry, don't think today is going to happen.
The man knows I have not been to the doctor. This is NOT something I go to the doctor for - unless they tell me to come in, or the ketones test pops. (because that's bad) But he asks me if I have a Dr's note. I laugh. He asks me if I can go IN to the dr's office and see the doctor to get one. Now, my county is spiking with the new variant, even if it wasn't some whack ass fool's dream to think I could walk in and get to see someone. But what I do have is a note from my dr from earlier this month, explaining in simple ass terms what it means to be a T1 diabetic, and how I can need various things for hyper or hypo sugar levels... including rest.
So I emailed that to him. Suck my nuts, dude. I'm quitting on Friday.
ETA: Running a low grade fever. It all makes much more sense now (I had to find the thermometer)

RE: The Work Thread
Well, it's a good thing I didn't quit just yet. Since new job I was supposed to start on Tuesday, just called me to tell me they're waiting on my background check to clear and I can't start while it's still pending, so they're pushing me out a week.
... criminal background check. In the county where my brother was a cop my whole adult life. Where I have never gotten so much as a speeding ticket. (Knock on wood).I want to scream in frustration. So much for giving myself the Christmas present of quitting.

RE: The Work Thread
So funny, suddenly now the job wants to make sure I have a comfortable headset, and that they order that ethernet cord for me, blah blah blah.
"We just want to make sure you have all the resources you need. "
... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

@boneghazi I am stealing Jazz cabbage for my own use. And I am fascinated by the growing process.

So much for the call. So I called the office. -sigh-

RE: The Work Thread
@alamias I don't know that I am mature or level headed, so much as paranoid. I had a job that basically fell through, so.. once bitten, twice shy.
