RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@LittleLizard I have been there. I went to the office manager, told her what was being said/done, and refused to see her again. Never did. She was gone a few months later.
I suppose going to the office manager or someone to talk about her blind spot isn't an option?

@Ganymede Here in my city, middle school and high school at least, they struck a deal with city buses. Which sounds great, but it makes it hard for the non-student commuters sometimes. It's not a perfect solution either.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
So new dog was cuddled up, and somewhat under covers cuddling the other night. I dozed off, woke up at about 3am, and about had a heart attack. His ear that has a colored patch on it (He's almost all white) was flipped back, so all I saw was the white part of his face.
Despite this dog being much smaller than Logan, I freaking did a triple take and freaked out. It looked just like Logan would, passed out next to me. I took a picture, to make sure I wasn't crazier than I know I am.
I showed several people who all agreed, if I hadn't told them it wasn't Logan, they would have thought it was.
My one friend says Logan was just coming on by to say hi, and tell me he approved of me springing a new doggo out of jail. That thought makes me want to cry.

I am so sick of the bullshit health insurance-provider-prescriptions dance.
My behavioral health provider has called out sick the last 3 times I had an appointment. I've been trying to get her to put me on something not Adderall. The Adderall ain't working, y'all.
Her poor secretary/handler/wth she is, has been doing her best to help me. She's at least kept me in Adderall, But when she has to send messages to the provider multiple times to get a script sent, it's a PITA.
Because of provider fuck up, I am without Adderall (They were supposed to call it in Thursday evening. Badass secretary was going to be out on Friday, so she couldn't follow up. They didn't put the script in until this morning. So my system is all out of whack, now (For me, a sudden med change will generally fuck with my sugars. No bueno. I crashed hard enough today that I can't shake the after feeling off)

@Arkandel -sarcastic response incoming- But Arkandel, they only allow /nobles/. Clearly a noble family wouldn't have such ongoings.

RE: MUers in the news?
@Nymeria No one said you can't create a monoethnic culture. It's when you want that creation to be shown to the entire world, you may want to realize some people may question it, especially if it is all white.
And when the person who created the existing setting admits he wasn't sure if he should make a certain group non-white because he didn't want to make it seem as black=bad, but has no problem with PoC being cast in the world he created... why do you? (As an aside, if you're going to be so up in arms about people being cast that don't match the descriptions, maybe you should write your own setting and lore and monoethnic story?)
Also, there are totally isolationist monoethnic cultures/supposedly sovereign nations in the current world. We call them white supremist compounds, here in the states.

RE: MUers in the news?
Could it just have been that Martin grew up on fantasy settings, etc, that were portrayed by...well, white people? A huge amount of fantasy stories I recall, have a huge amount of white people.
Because the writers were usually white, so a lot of what was written back in the day in fantasy seems white. (I am not saying I am a huge expert. I am not. I read a ton of fantasy in my younger days, older stuff from my much older cousins/etc that got left around my gran's/aunt's house. But I don't remember a lot of people being not described as white)
(Interestingly enough, one of my favorite fantasy series involves travel, discussing the 'otherness' of cultures and looks of people the main character is not used to, I just realized. The man character says he's dark skinned, and brown haired, but is a little bit 'other' because of the color of his eyes. But a woman from the nearest region (they said North and South, not explicitly different countries) comes into his life, she's fair and blonde, etc etc. But then /she/ as the white, blond, blue eyes woman, is the 'other'. And I'm pretty certain that was written by a white woman. And that series came out.. a long time ago. 1986. I checked. )
If Martin can admit that having a less than lily white cast on House of Dragon is a good and welcome thing, and HoD is based on the prequel history.. Why can't you, Nymeria ?

RE: MUers in the news?
@hobos In response to this, there was in many, many, fantasy w/ nobility settings, fostering and adoption of non-family. It's kind of easy to explain why my character looks different from the rest of their siblings, if they were adopted. Yes, adopted children can be considered as much a sire or dam's child as one by blood. Especially in a country/world where there are battles and all sorts of things, where people would die - families wiped out, villages raided - I would think this would be an easy way to expand beyond one stereotype.
I have never read this particular source material, nor seen any of the adaptations barring clips here and there that crop up in my internet wanderings. (Please put down the torches and pitchforks).

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
So, that dog did like me, and was very sweet, but was adopted elsewhere.
I met with.. a lot of dogs. A lot of them made me feel guilty, but that was because they weren't for me. I went back to the local SPCA a few times, and thought I found the one. But he doesn't like cats, and since the roommate has one...
But the other one I had a meet and greet with, does okay with cats. I had second thoughts, he didn't seem to interested in me during the meet. But I decided it was worth a shot.
OMG y'all. This dog is WORLDS away from the one on Saturday. Much more chill, less distracted, listening when commands are given. (He acted like he didn't know them, on Saturday), and he is already a shadow.
ETA: His adoption was sponsored, and now I know why. His owner was rushed to the hospital, and was not going to be able to come back and care for him. Owner's brother signed him over to the SPCA, and funded the fee when someone chose him.
So I lost my doggo, and he lost his person. We might make this work. (Also, he's a snuggle buddy at night.)
