RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
So, that dog did like me, and was very sweet, but was adopted elsewhere.
I met with.. a lot of dogs. A lot of them made me feel guilty, but that was because they weren't for me. I went back to the local SPCA a few times, and thought I found the one. But he doesn't like cats, and since the roommate has one...
But the other one I had a meet and greet with, does okay with cats. I had second thoughts, he didn't seem to interested in me during the meet. But I decided it was worth a shot.
OMG y'all. This dog is WORLDS away from the one on Saturday. Much more chill, less distracted, listening when commands are given. (He acted like he didn't know them, on Saturday), and he is already a shadow.
ETA: His adoption was sponsored, and now I know why. His owner was rushed to the hospital, and was not going to be able to come back and care for him. Owner's brother signed him over to the SPCA, and funded the fee when someone chose him.
So I lost my doggo, and he lost his person. We might make this work. (Also, he's a snuggle buddy at night.)

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
I sent both of my managers text pictures this morning, trying to show the errors I was getting. I called IT to try and follow up on my ticket, but as often is on a Monday morning, they've got a huge queue and I should be getting a call back.
Manager has been texting me, asking me the most basic bs. Yes, I've restarted the system. Yes, I've tried several times to get into the system. I've explained this multiple times. I have gone to the VPN team. They escalated it. I can't MAKE IT call me to fix it.
ETA: Then my other manager called me, and had me do shit she knows nothing about. I loathe people with less tech knowledge than I, trying to act like they know more. Don't talk down to me, it pisses me off.
Also, on the brighter side.. sort of? When I went in on Saturday for meet and greet with puppies, I was told that the family interested in one couldn't take him because they found out someone needed surgery ASAP. The other one I am also first for, because.. I'm not sure why, they just told me I was. They were going to test them with cats yesterday, but I won't hear until tomorrow. So here's hoping at least one of them is okay with the kitties, so there can be peace in the house. And the cat will again stay out of my room. I will not find out until tomorrow, and the not knowing is making me crazy.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
@Too-Old-For-This I have had to explain it 3 times, now. And someone told my one manager I was on wifi (Uhh no, I ran cable for this, eff wifi)
Then there's my therapist, who was supposed to upload my ESA letter for me. So I could email it to the apartment complex office, because we're still not supposed to go in person (and no one is ever there, anyhow). He put a single copy in the mail. It took over a week to get. I called him several times, left a message with the ladies on the phones to please ask him to call me. now he is my mental health provider. I do not call and ask for a call. Like ever.
I finally went to his supervisor and left a vm. Funny how he called me 2 hours later. Then denied he was ever going to upload it, until I told him EXACTLY what he said. "I'll write it up, and get someone to help me put it on mychart, I'm still not good with that technology." Then he actually said. "Well, you've got the letter now, so everything's good?"
No, no it's not, you dick. Because I had to wait for you, an amazing dog that I totally had a connection with, got an application before mine. Despite the SPCA saying it is not first come, first serve, I have been clearly told I am in 2nd in line, and not to get my hopes up. To the point of "Well, when you're here for your meet and greet, I'd look through the kennels again." Lady, I've been in a half dozen times. There have been TWO dogs that I had any connection with. I saw them on TUESDAY, and was told there were no applications on them, and that one of them hadn't even had any interest shown in him. I hand my stuff in on Thursday, and suddenly they're both spoken for? KMA.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
So my VPN for work has been acting up. It kicks me out, then lets me back in, and then a few minutes later does it again. So I tell my bosses that. they tell me to call IT. Tier 1 escalated me to VPN team, who has escalated me to the desktop team.
They (my immediate bosses) keep saying I can send emails, etc. so my VPN must be working. Like..did you NOT listen to me?

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Tomorrow I have an appointment (application approved) to go meet this dog that I have inexplicably fallen for. Sadly, the rescue 'forgot' to tell me I was approved, and I called to follow up today, so I am not his only meet and greet tomorrow.
Wish me luck that he's as chill as 'advertised' and he likes me?

RE: RL things I love
When you turn your younger roommate onto one of the great comedians of his time (before his time, if you ask me).

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Remy was taken in by a rescue. A friend of a friend, and another friend, all made calls to the lady who runs it, explaining why she needs to make an exception to their rules. I am fortunate to be able to reach out to kind-hearted people.
The roommate said something awful, when I came back in the house after he was handed off. "He wasn't right for you. He wouldn't have fit your lifestyle, and it was too soon. MY Heart isn't over Logan, so yours can't be. That's why I was such a grump to him since you brought him home." (Read: Bitch.) She wouldn't pet him, she wouldn't give him the time of day. All she ever did was yell at him and ignore him. But Remy will be found a perfect home for him, I have no doubt.
Today is Logan's birthday. He would have been 11. I keep finding myself crying. Please scritch/love/treat your non-human babies a little extra for me today.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
So, today I was supposed to fill out my timesheet, through the recruiting agency that staffed me. Well, on Wednesday I emailed the timesheet help email asked for help, because I did not have all the info, could not get into the timesheet program. No response.
Sent another early this afternoon, and two more to my recruiter, and a third to their Human Resources email, asking for help before my timesheet is late.
No response to those emails, but HR did email me later, asking me how 'everything was going' and if 'they could do anything to make the transition smoother, let them know'.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Ganymede honestly, when I came home from putting Logan to sleep, she had let the cat roam free. And had not shut my door, so I found the cat in my room, into Logan's things.
I think she thought it was going to be just the cat, and she was going to have a built in cat sitter. (She's going away next month for a trip. She has not checked with me if I will watch the cat, or if I will be here (there has been talk about me going away for a weekend). But the piss poor way she's been treating me as of late (Even before Remy), she can fucking whistle Dixie.
ETA: I am rehoming Remy. I can not take the stress of trying to handle/train him, and her being this way. I'm sugar crashing from it. And yeah.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
Okay, so I've had to keep Remy out in the living room with me when I work, usually leashed to me/my chair/my desk, so I can make sure he's not destroying things he should not. (I do not have a crate, that is being fixed today. Provided it gets here today.
My roommate, knowing I was going to get another dog, has had nothing but attitude since Remy came home. Now, Remy is higher energy than Logan. He is used to cats being used to him, so when he sees the cat, he wants to play. She complains about this. (The roommate, not the cat)
This morning, someone on the work crew was waving and making faces outside our patio door, and Remy was barking. So she started yelling at him. THEN she brings the cat out into the living room, where he's connected to my desk, and lets her wander around, despite the fact he is going wild - making all the puppy play barks, trying to play bow and get closer to her. Meanwhile, I am on the phone with new job IT. Finally she walks over and is getting into Remy's things (the dog bed, the rope, his ball, his bone), and Remy jumps up and tries to run over and play, jerking my whole desk. But I am clearly in the wrong for asking her for help/to put the cat back in her room.
NOW, I am not saying the cat should be prisoner. But SHE locks the cat in her room almost her every work day, because the cat will cry if she's not paid attention to when she wants it, or will climb up her legs and claw her up. SO WHY would she do this, other than to cause problems for me, because she thinks Remy isn't 'going to match up with my lifestyle'.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Derp No, he's almost 2.5. Will be in a month. And no, not all Pits are like that. In fact, the last 2 I had, were kinda couch potatoes. They /would/ run around and play.. and then pass out hard.
And I DO run him (though I am not running with him, because Ow.) I played with him for my entire lunch break today, making him chase the ball, back and forth and round and round. I got him doing the zoomies up and down the length of the apartment for 20 minutes. Right now? He's passed out on the floor, not far from my desk. But it doesn't stop the constant destructo.
-
RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
If he can't learn when it is not okay to be 'talkative', it's going to be an issue (what with working from home for me and the roommate) . He can't be trusted if there are a roll of paper towels around. He wants to just.. chew on things, and I give him all the good things for him to chew, and he just.. ignores them for things he's been told not to chew on. His separation anxiety is possibly going to be a problem.
-
RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
So Remy is just.. destructo dog. I played ball. I played Tug, we went out 4 or 5 times. And he's still just.. destroying things. Specifically, plastic things, almost to exclusion.
I am at my wit's end. He chewed a plastic hanger to bits, while his big, gnaw worthy bone was less than 2 feet away.
Add in the fact my PCP contacted me to say my urine tests were problematic for kidney disease.. just shoot me now. Pls?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
"Well, he was calling you to walk your through.." "His name was nowhere in any of my invites, previous emails, or in the paperwork received with the equipment." huff "Well, if he calls you, you need to let him help you."
Guess who doesn't get paid for 3 weeks, and has no idea how they're going to pay their car loan or anything else on time because unemployment probably won't pay anything for this week?

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
Oh dear gods.
So, I got a new job. Yay! I was supposed to be in a Teams meeting at 9 to 'set up' my equipment. AKA I need some chucklehead to walk me through Bit Locker and into their systems. I double checked with my contact person at 8:30, was told all my invites were correct. 9 - no one's there. 9:10 - get a phone call, can't hear the guy, tell him I'm in the teams meeting via the link, waiting for Kody. He tells me he'll check with Kody, then get back to me. Never calls back. 10am - I email my point person, tell her what's going on. No response. 10:45 - I text the person I was supposed to join for 'catch up' training, tell HER what is going on. She reaches out to original point person. Original point person says no one showed up to the teams meeting. Guy who called says he called me, etc etc
So I got called and blamed because the guy who was not named in any of my paperwork, or invites, called me on a crappy connection, and I didn't take him at his word.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Ganymede He's got a lot of good points. But is it weird I feel it is unfair to him, to follow Logan? Logan was a rare dude, and while Remy is adorable, and a lot of his less favorable habits are lack of care and training.. I'm worried I will not give him his full due, because of his predecessor.
Is that insane? Like, does that put way out of the stratosphere of weird? I mean, so long as he is take care of, and given affection, is it unfair to him?
No, my brain doesn't stop. (The ADHD has been SUUUUUUPER out of control lately, and I am on the max dose of Adderall allowed. I think I need to call tmw to talk about trying something else.)
Also - his food issues are somewhat resolved. They were feeding him cheap ass dog food. Logan loved cheap dog food like Kibbles and Bits, but I eventually got him to like the healthier stuff. Remy? I bought several small bags of different foods to see what would get him to eat. ...Kibbles and Bits? He dove into the bowl, even in the raised holder.
He also has decided my roommate is part of his pack, because she went out to take out the trash and water her plants, and he was sitting at the sliding door, whining. This doggo.
