I think there is a certain magic in the randomness of people that you come across in M*s. I love the feeling of playing with a new person that you just click with and you play off each other in ways that you've never done with others. I think there's always a certain like, magic in creating a new character and bouncing them off other new characters. The initial 'yes, and' of developing. I love that we have 80 people on the game, most of whom I don't know, to do this with.

And I know that it sucks to be stuck in a spot where either you missed out, or now you can't play with your own friends. Inevitably, people will probably leave over that last. And that will make me sad, tbh, because I am looking forward to all the concepts and people I have seen.

There's no easy answer. I hate people being disappointed, but I'd rather people be disappointed than have the story suffer because there are too many players.

*Disclaimer: I am not staff. Yes, I am close friends with them. But, my views do not reflect theirs in a court of law.

That is a fair complaint. I can understand your point of view, Tinuviel.

One could argue though that if they had announced that there'd be limited spots, that people who were undecided about apping would take one just because they wouldn't want to miss out. Which would leave people who really wanted to play not being able to get a spot too, but because of people who just wanted to grab a spot because they were limited.

There's no real right or wrong, I'd argue. Different choices could be made, but it's hard to have foresight to tell which is the correct one.

    • RE: Ideal Scene Length?

I find that 'meet and greet' first scenes never go anywhere, and I prefer to keep those like, shorter. If this is the first time our characters are meeting, I'd rather something short and sweet. Then the next time we put them together, maybe a bit longer. Or if they click, a lot longer! Maybe they end up gushing about something.

But I find if I drag on that first scene too long, it makes the whole relationship suffer. I'd rather a bunch of short scenes than one giant one. I think some of the best relationships I've had come from that. (Like Eleyna-Sylvie were a bunch of small scenes, in between other things. Myrinda and her sons were a bunch of small scenes. Alden and Isabel. Etc etc)

And, I would like to add for the record, you will probably also agree with the statement when you have a bad interaction with a game.

      b) Perhaps (probably) I'm jaded, but it seems like a moderation nightmare waiting to happen, especially given how prior attempts at MU game/people wikis have turned out.

man, i am super excited about the idea of having a meme like page about 'Meg' and getting it vandalized whenever i say something people don't like, tbh. no sarcasm. it'd be hilarious.

I had four people independently contact me warning me away from the people running the game for doing what I accused them of doing,

Man, theno, you know I like you, but name names or don't bring it up. Don't drop shadow figures of people who 'all agree' about this one thing without giving some concrete names and at least some bit of proof.

There are many people who have contacted me independently calling me a sweet, beautiful forum angel. I'm not gonna name names, but that legit (or well, roughly) happened. Should people put any stock into that? No.

@thenomain you are right that there is probably an over exuberance, probably, to defend things that we like. and probably also just a lot of miscommunication around this whole topic.

i am sorry about your cat, theno. 😞 that is rough.

You can say it is abusive to control anything that your children do, and it just isn't. Sorry. Telling them when to go to bed, when to take a shower, when to do chores, etc? That's all part of being a parent.

Telling them not to sexually interact with strangers on the internet is also not abusive. Do you want to be sexually interacting with a child, @Carex? I'd hope not.
