Arx: secrets and metaplot that is driven by interaction with the world and other players, rewards for RPing with newbies.
XMM: structure of plots that let players lead them and keep them organized. There would be a teamlead that would step up OOCly for that role and would keep things on track and moving forward. Professionalism of staff on a level I don't often see. (And as these people became like, my closest friends, I think this is going to come off biased, but seriously. Every staff interaction was very professional, transparent. What you saw was what you got; they didn't spill any staff information to outsiders. Every staff interaction was logged so every other staff knew exactly what happened; there couldn't be any staff-shopping.) They also adjusted staff interactions with feedback really quickly when a way they were handling something was coming off in a way they didn't mean.
Second Pass: the ability of the players to directly affect the world as it changed due to external forces as well. Both proactive and reactionary actions saw things happening to the world.
@Ghost maybe she doesn't feel well. my cats get needy when their stomachs are upset or etc.

I'd say the onus would be on you to prove this, else it'd be little more than libel.
This isn't an issue of proof. You have to presume that it is true because the issue is: should staff take action if a player is telling truths to affect another player's RP.
Said another way, if I learned that Rex/Sovereign was playing on Fallen World and informed another player of this so that he/she would not RP with him, should staff take action?
And yet, isn't that what we want people to do with VASpider, in some ways? Informing everyone who they are playing so that people can avoid them.
I get where you're going with this, and basically it really comes down to not being cut and dry. You really can't say 'i'd never take action on THIS' or 'i would take action on THAT'. It depends on the situation, to me. And who I want on my game, as I /think/ you have said in the past. (Maybe not you. It might have been someone else's point in another thread way back when.)
I didn't get nearly enough sleep last night, and I have a quarterly (actually, like it's been half a year?) review today. I am dreading it, because I haven't been doing all that great in the last month at my job. Can I hide somewhere?
Sometimes when you post, I really want to send you chocolate. (You're always so grumpy! Do you want some chocolate, WTFE?)

So yeah, I think it's super safe to say I'm p cool. by my music tastes. Right?? (Nothing as cool as a 30 year old white woman singing like she's a gangsta 'Where the hood at?'.)
Also man. I would throw down with @Ganymede and @Auspice with their music. Tech N9ne and Lissie both almost made my list. If I had more room--
ETA: Notable mentions that had to be left out include VAST, Creedence Clearwater Revival (I love me some CCR), and Nirvana and Nine Inch Nails.

I like it, @Sparks. One remark only - the people who can play 24/7 shouldn't be dominating, I quite agree on that, but the flipside is not rewarding investment; the person who plays should still be ahead - with diminishing returns, staggered caps, whatever is preferable... but carrots are still important to have. Players do like chasing them.
I disagree, to some extent. It is about the game that you (ambiguous) want to make, whether you want to reward investment or not. I've played on games where there is no XP, no resources, nothing. I was still invested in the game because I was invested in the roleplaying I was doing and the story I was playing.
And that is a perfectly legitimate strategy to have. That you want people invested in the story for the sake of the story, not the rewards that they are getting from a system of code, without bringing in 'how much you RP' as part of the equation.
I know Pax and I and others have talked about this to death. There were a number of other things that could be given for being active. But I also just don't think it is necessary.
I will for sure be donating when I get out of meetings! And if you are headed through Colorado, feel free to crash with me in Colorado Springs. I will feed you and fill up your car.

Let's take that treaty. I say, "Okay, to write a treaty and make CERTAIN it's translated properly, you're going to need these prerequisites" and create blocks for them. They can RP about those prerequisites, but they also have to put in the time/effort to do the diplomacy and xenolinguistics.
I get that, and I see what you're suggesting, but I'm a cynical cat and believe that people will devote their Time and Blocks, then TS with one another rather than RP through what sounds like really boring RP to me.
Well, yes. I would even go so far as to say they /should/ do this. (Not the TS, maybe.) If something is boring RP, you can mention it in other scenes, refer to it, but you don't have to sit down and RP /exactly/ that thing. You can RP working on a treaty that gets swept aside momentarily for hot, hot TS on a desk, for example, and it should still count. Your time offscreen, you actually went and picked back up the treaty and quibbled over words.
The scene with the aliens would still happen in the system that Pax is suggesting. But there'd be some background of what PCs are doing in their offscreen time (and maybe on-screen time if they /want/ to RP it) about what is leading up to that scene.
Eh, no. It's more like really if a bunch of fanfic writers of Star Wars are talking about how they like Star Wars and enjoy writing and creating fiction based on it, and you chipped in to add to someone saying 'I don't create fanfiction myself' by then saying to that person 'I hate most Star Wars fanfiction. It is ugly and stupid.'
I mean if we're going to keep going down this road of clarifying this analogy.

I didn't understand it in Firan either. To be honest, I find most ASCII art ugly as sin. Only a few pieces have made me go "Oh, wow! That's neat!"
I hate most ASCII art. It's as ugly as sin.
I mean, ok. But you know what you said. I know what you said. There's a reason that people responded to what you said and were like 'ok but why???' and didn't say anything about @Jaded's post. If you think you implied the same thing as they did, you might want to consider why people responded the way they did to what you posted versus their post.
(And you're right. You didn't say stupid. Let's clarify the analogy further:
It's like if a bunch of fanfic writers of Star Wars are talking about how they enjoy writing Star Wars fanfiction and someone said 'I don't get fanfiction' and you responded by saying 'I don't get fanfiction, either. I hate most of it. I think it is ugly.'
Am I still doing analogies right?)

@Songtress We have a rule that we won't create a whole new house for just one CG, so to make one requires at least two people trying to CG into it. With the Velenosa faction, we had one fairly big house CG in. At least one!
<_< sorry
SORRY NOT SORRY
and for something more useful, I think it's easy to feel left behind right now in Alpha because honestly, we aren't sure where we are heading. I think things will become more clear in beta about what the actual use of all these things will be going forward.
I often have the feeling like, oh no everyone is so far ahead! But-- Ahead of what? What is the goal? How are we going to get to effect it? We'll know in time, is my personal opinion. YMMV, ofc.

I have to keep a spreadsheet to make sure I'm getting everything done I need to. This is not a complaint (nor something I see people not me needing).
no I totally need a spreadsheet. And even then, I fail often at marking down things I may have said in page, at work, etc. I wish I had more hours a day to devote to doing things, tbh, which isn't a feeling I've had with a game in a long time.
