I will weep if you use BESM. Despite that they actually have printed products for Sailor Moon. It is, like any set list of powers and modifiers, fair. It may not be balanced at all. And the resolution mechanism is terrible.

@ganymede You have to promise not to bite our heads off if we do contact you. Save that for when we are bad at whatever game it is.

You can come up with something complicated like replacing damage pts with something like a D6 1=0 damage, 2-5 = 1 damage, 6 = 2 damage, then replace one, half or all of the damage rating with these dice.

You could do a chart based on 2d6, and make up a randomness to replace the damage values.

You could say that a good roll from an NPC enables a chance for more only.

Its your game, as long as you are consistent, and keep an eye on the results, it'll work out.

Maybe they do the old Wraith 1E setup where one player is the Sin-Eater and another player is their Geist. >.> <.<

It's also because the system is built that way. One of the first topics on magic is how to you target with it, and it goes from line of sight to targeting through infinite distances, time, etc. It's built right in, and it's akin to saying you just won't use a Discipline or nothing over 3 dots.

That doesn't mean it is wise,or makes for good game place.

But if you tell someone "you can roll 6 dice while being attacked to do a few damage, OR you can sit at home and build up 80 dice via a ritual" most players will say why aren't I doing what is most effective etc.

So its really I have this power but I should never use it. Even if the fiction and so on are full of it.

Maybe someone could try writing it, redirecting the higher end targeting (time, space) into something more interesting. Heck replace it with the ability to make slightly better spells on triggers to use in a fight, with limits on how many.

If you look at the Sorcery system in old Runequest, they allowed very distant attacks, but targeting was a bitch, and everyone always had the ability and IC knowledge to build up defenses (power and magic shields for a contest to see if you resist).

We don't pay money for catcare. We let people move in, for free AC, fireplace, laundry, food, internet, and gas money. However, we have friends for whom that is a real benefit.

If you only expect 5% of players, and to emulate a table top style, don't plan to support barP and passive type characters, how is this different than an online tabletop game platform?
