RE: RL Anger
@Sunny This is a direct tag.
I asked you a previous question. With a tag. I asked another question about Arx. I have no idea if you play there.
So no, wasn't asking you in particular, have a means to do so, didn't.
@Misadventure said in RL Anger:
Hmm, let me alter the question: do they actually play like a regular player, or are they just trolls?
I feel these people must easily trip my "has nothing to say in a meaningful way" trigger, as I tend to skip them after about 2 sentences.
@apos Did they go to Arx?
Find me the goddamn tag. FIND IT.
I realize that in the flow of conversation one post may seem to be speaking to same person as a prior one, but there is no @!Sunny, if there was I would certainly make use.

@ThatGuyThere I'm was curious, as some folks are really obnoxious on MSB but fairly okay on games, but if we have no certain links between players and posters ... not much more to do atm.

"I care Princess, I care."
Or put another way, if you don't care, then why tell me you don't care? I cared enough to ask, and it was for the forum as a whole.
No @sunny, no @saosmash, no @anyone.
Fuck it, I will just ignore shit you complain about.

RE: RL Anger
I must miss the part where people self identify as from 4chan. To be clear I was asking about the designation, not a particular poster.
So here, it's specific. Else, it's maybe specific.
How many has MSB had?
Wish searching was easier.
-
RE: RL Anger
I'm surprised people assume that someone is from 4chan, as opposed to thinking that behavior from 4chan has spread out.
Or is this one of those ways to undermine anything someone says like calling them passive-aggressive?

RE: New Superhero Game Looking for Staff/Feedback
@Thenomain Did I say players??? >.> <.<
I meant characters. Yeeeess, the characters. Give them a few things they want from one another, and battle royale.
"Let's get paid!"
And I do not visit religious hate sites. I visit humanity sucks social/cognitive science sites.

RE: New Superhero Game Looking for Staff/Feedback
Just you wait and see. Some games design will have players killing one another off.

RE: New Superhero Game Looking for Staff/Feedback
I am fairly sure you can create a number that reflects the minimum reduction of a thing you'll accept.
So you could say "Your total attack + hit can't exceed PLX2+4", or that you can't reduce your defense below some set point.
Mainly make sure you do things so fights play out as you want them to. I love tradeoffs like lower def for increased to hit or damage, however, I also like it when lowered defenses mean things that shouldn't hurt have a chance to surprise you. Ultimately, yeah Superman can let a RPG explode anywhere on his person and not care.
I feel the largest weakness is the compression of scales. Even the 2nd Edition of DC Heroes had Batmans best martial arts be like a 10 rating vs a 25 Toughness. 12 vs 15 is ... not good imo. My own 3rd Edition M&M proposed a 30 or 40 PL scale, depending on where the players initial designs ended up (It was originally for a post Kingdom Come setting).

RE: New Superhero Game Looking for Staff/Feedback
There are many possible ways to make things a slugfest. I started super hero RP with Villains and Vigilantes, and it had a fairly strong slugfest feel (leading into a beating which was great for emulating The Elementals comic from ComicCo but may have made my later designs less pretty and clean than folks might like).
[Summary. You have a Power score. You had Body. You can absorb current Power/10 damage into your power score. Everything else goes to Body. Losing Body leads to KO checks and death. So definitely not bloodless.]

RE: Shadowrun: Modern
@Apos Perhaps talk to your players about what they want to get into.
I agree with the general idea that if the fiction is about something, then by all means include it in some fashion.
Some people don't like racism in their games either.

RE: Shadowrun: Modern
Some measure of attractiveness makes decent sense if you have any interest in modeling reality. When considered more attractive all sorts of things happen for you, plenty of which are positive. Some attractiveness is considered fairly universal for humans, symmetry and strong fertility markers. Others are very subjective. Some are literally just how you look, much of attractiveness is everything else you do.
CHARISMA (CHA)
Charisma is your force of personality, the persuasive- ness and charm you can call on to get people to do what you want without having to go to the trouble of pulling a gun on them. It’s not entirely about your appearance, but it’s also not entirely not about your appearance. What it’s mostly about is how you use what you have—your voice, your face, your words, and all the tools at your disposal—to charm and/or intimidate the people you encounter. Additionally, Charisma is an important attribute for shamanic mages, as it helps them resist the damaging Drain from spells they cast.Shadowrun 5E Page 51
Elves have a starting Charisma of 3 according to the table of page 66. There could be a way to lower that with a flaw, I didn't look.
Weight or body fat isn't mentioned here, so I would assume that an elf that didn't fit the Tolkien or D&Dian or Pini standards of appearance would still be most likely to be seen as physically attractive, meaning they look within some boundaries of general societal taste.
I believe the disconnect is Theno asked can an elf not be slender, and Lithium says that elves get a charisma bonus so they would not end to be unattractive due to weight and how they carry and present it. Who won? Who lost? Who's next? You decide!
Of course perhaps I just fat shamed everyone I know by saying any of this.
PS Appearance or Attractiveness better fits an Advantage, that modifies other resolutions, except in designs where randomly determining things is considered valuable. For short hand, many such games just leave it as a stat because everyone has an appearance. It should then just be a randomly determined modifier, but that frightens D20 players apparently.

RE: Desc Me LA?
I would assume it is the western parts of LA, mainly the coast and neighborhoods touching them. I've never heard of anyone refer to an area of LA as "the Westside".

RE: Adapting FATE for MU*s
FATE is not for PvP.
It is for competent characters to show off their competence.
It is for players to get a chance to create, embellish and/or narrate obstacles.
It is for a single basic plane of power level. It is not for people who want infinite growth of characters.
It is not for those who oppose a system telling them they have lost an argument.
It is not for system crunch, despite having a deal of system to track. -

Like when they ask if you mean static or animated cartoons?

RE: RL Anger
@WTFE When you say japanimation, I see the entire island chain standing up as a huge Shinto themed robot, ready to ... do something. Take over the world, vend underwear, shoot fast trains, and bind you in sutras.

RE: Eliminating social stats
I really am far more interested in basic, human social abilities. Mind-control and magic is another thing, people can complain but they can't say "I don't think your magic power can do that" if the text says it can.
I personally have a love of deception and misinterpreted or incomplete information. So I want to find a way where the code holds the "truth" of the situation, and no player involved knows exactly what the other believes or perceives, while allowing as much player decision making as possible.
