it would get around the problem of everyone having to agree on a pre-determined outcome (ironically) and just have matches

I don't know; I thought that was the beauty of the idea. "What do you mean it's planned out ahead of time?" Just have the two players roll d6s before the match. Whoever wins the roll wins the upcoming match, and they just freeform the fight back and forth with the loser understanding that they need to accept defeat at some point during the fight.

If you kind of want to make it fair, every time a character takes a L, they get a consolation chip. You can turn in consolation chips to up your die roll result at a 1-to-1 rate. The other player can also use their chips, so you can get a bidding war. Whoever wins the bid loses the bidded chips and the loser keeps their chips for another day and gets to add one since they now have to take another loss.

I'd totally be down for a Mortal Kombat or Pro Wrestling MU.

I once made an Infinite Worlds character that came from an Earth that achieved World Peace(TM) by having leaders fight duels over their grievances. This eventually evolved into all levels of government embracing the squared circle to settle differences. Everything from HOAs to International Politics were dealt with by steroidal champions looking for the pin. Each region was a circuit of wrestlers pummeling each other in a sort of feudal society where if you wanted into the ruling class, you just had to eat some vitamins, do some pushups and come up with a gimmick.

This might make for a fun mush.

I've suggested to friends when we discuss this sort of stuff that, should a one-world government form and manage to maintain a monopoly on military power, all the states should settle their differences through sports matches. Why have a World War when you could have a World Cup?

This is where I frantically tell to anyone who listens that even though 95% of all things are shit

      Interspecies Reviewers
      Redo of Healer
      The vast majority of Isekai

that 5% still exists for anime, and if anyone needs a starting point, let me know.

I am really, REALLY enjoying Odd Taxi right now. I'm not into most of the stuff floating around out there this or last season, but Odd Taxi has me hooked.
I mean, is this a world of anthropomorphic animals like Beastars or are we just seeing the normal human world through the eyes of a lonely, possibly deranged taxi driver? Now to see if it's like most one-season anime - being good for the first 6-10 episodes then going off the rails - or if it can go the distance.

      @faraday said in RL Anger:

Often it is associated with drug use, commonly cocaine. It's a commonly-observed phenomenon in EMS circles. We're trained on it in our paramedic curriculum.

      Some science: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3088378/

At its core, it is just an umbrella for describing things we know exist. Drugs can make people strong and crazy, and war has plenty of documented examples of people performing heroic feats thanks to adrenaline. We know that both drugs and flight-or-fight can lock out the logic centers of your brain and make you act out and be impervious to reasoning.

Can confirm that it's a thing and it's mostly drug related. Had a guy take something and, when me and a partner checked on him, he was wide eyed and going on that he was Jesus, while swinging his arms around, almost hitting others and starting a fight with them. So we pulled him aside to isolate him and he started fighting us. He overpowered both of us at the same time, telling us that as Jesus he forgave us for what we did but he needed to go and purge the sinners. In the end, it took 8 officers to get him restrained and he ended up with a broken shoulder blade from it all. An hour later, he was completely understandable and apologizing to all of us.

I'm all for free and mandatory vasectomies at the age of 15. Once you prove you can raise a child, you can have it undone.

For me, I couldn't do one of the established RPGs/settings like Mouseguard or Humblewood.

Me either. It's kind of why I want to turn the mice into humans and just have the dangers of the world be equally large and dangerous as the dangers in Mouse Guard are to mice. Make the snake a giant snake. Make the owl a dragon, wyvern, or a roc.

I personally think Monarchies of Mau is the better system and setting.

@lotherio said in Are there any high fantasy MU*s?:

I started working on one not too long ago focused on small folk (sort of like gnomes) and their high fantasy adventures/world. The knights road like snow lynxes, war ponies and wild boar. It had an encroaching enemy of other small folk (goblin-like) who mounted like winter wolves and wolverines. It was a small forest location and focused on their struggles, the bad ones were winning the struggle to control the vale/valley. It stalled as some collaborators weren't sure about playing wee folk.

Sounds a bit like Mouse Guard, which is a MU* I would like to see sometime.

      https://commanderbond.net/834/a-cat-named-blofeld.html

The cat is the mastermind, the villian to end all villians, the cat has to be Blofeld. Don’t tell me its unrealistic, this a world with Aston Martins that have ejector seats and parents who name their offspring ‘Pussy’ and ‘Plenty’, a cat craving world domination instead of a can of Whiskas is nothing out of the ordinary.

Damn it, you stole my thunder. I was going to post an image quote from Hitler and put under it "Just to point out, I am sharing someone else's quote. This isn't me saying it, according to @ILuvGrumpyCat.

Assign correct blame is all I'm saying."
