It's the age old Romanticism vs. Enlightenment viewpoints. Star Wars' longing for a past "more civilized age" vs Star Trek's "boldly go where no one has gone before."

RE: Interest in Cyberpunk MU*?
@Runescryer said in Interest in Cyberpunk MU*?:
@Wizz Cybernetics are already inherently expensive, A starting character can't afford very much in Cyberpunk, as opposed to Shadowrun.
And if you're worried about 'inherently gross', then, no offense, but Cyberpunk might not be the genre for you. We're talking about a literary genre where one of the major works, Hardwired, features a character who has an implanted Roto-Rooter in her throat with a targeting system. And she conducts an assassination of an 80+ year old man who had his consciousness transfered into the body of a 16 year old girl, by french kissing the target and unleashing the weapon, which tore all the way down 'her' throat, then buzzed around and pureed the major organs. That's not exactly 'light' subject matter.
Dear Author of Hardwired,

It depends on how powerful cybernetic augmentation is and how commonplace it is. If a cybernetic arm can punch through Superman's chest, you need to balance that so all the non-Doomsday-armed people aren't ridiculously underpowered or have it so that everyone is walking around with cybernetic arms.

I liked that one server that had a coded internet/matrix/cyberspace mechanic and corporations that actually designed and built products. I forget it's name and it wasn't around long sadly, but I liked some of its ideas.

Reading some of these stories made me think of this.

RE: Favorite Words
Sanguine - it means both optimistic and bloody, which allows for some fun wordplay, as the do with the daedric prince Sanguine in Elder Scrolls.

RE: Dating in the 2020's
Not really. Most of her message was basically a reply pointing out she is currently seeing someone and is only interested in friends. That's fantastic! A reply that says 'Thanks but no thanks' is unheard of, so it is greatly appreciated!
The thing is she met this person after I messaged her. She says she has been seeing him for a year now. Yeah, you weren't interested only in friends when I sent the original message.

Funny anecdote about dating apps from today!
I get a reply message out of the blue from a woman on OKCupid today. I don't recognize the woman. I read her reply and nothing is clicking. I read my original message and, while it sounds like something I would write, I don't remember writing it. After some thinking and looking over her profile, I realized that I sent the original message sometime around December 2017 to April 2018.
I'm not sure whether to even reply or not. I'm not first choice, second choice, or even third choice. I am waaaaaaaaay down the list.

RE: AI Dungeon
My adventure was very quick and successful. It started with the app asking for my email address, and continued with me clicking the little X icon at the top right of the browser window.
I won.
Nice try, though. Good game. I am willing to give it a rematch any time, but I suspect all of the matches will result in numerous victories for me and none for the app, which would get tiresome.

I am a decent cook. I thought about going to culinary school in high school but opted for college instead, and I have watched every episode of Alton Brown's Good Eats three or four times. I think that makes me at least on par with Emeril Lagasse or maybe Wolfgang Puck.
As for dining out alone, I do it all the time. I usually sit at the bar, since it's quicker service and it's not too weird to strike up a conversation with others at the bar, unlike talking to the table across from you.

Did you like the game Snake?
Does mass transit give you a (lady)boner?
If you answered "yes" to both questions, I present to you...
It is exactly what it says on the tin, and it is hilarious and fun.

You know. Using Facebook to facilitate having a sex life. Bringing it back to its roots.
I remember the days of Facebook requiring you to have a college email address to sign up. Fun times.

Hinge is Tinder utilizing Facebook. It connects to Facebook to show you friends, friends of friends, friends of friends of friends, etc, hoping you will match. However, Facebook Dating is now a thing, so who knows how long Hinge will last.

Online people openly list things like their political views, their favourite TV shows, music etc., long before you would find these things out about them in person. Especially on OKCupid, with its question format, it's super easy for me to, for example, click right through to the disagreement section and eliminate anyone who doesn't answer "yes" to "are you a feminist". Because honestly it gets tiring for me to have to educate good looking arseholes on these issues IRL.
OKCupid is dead, at least in my area. I went from having like 50-60 women in the 90 ratings in a 50 mile range in 2011-2015 to 5 today. Ever since they changed the messaging system, made it so that you can't rate lower than 50% with someone, got rid of the minimum 200 questions before being able to have a rating, and let people choose their own questions to answer (thus letting people avoid some of the nitty gritty questions that help you figure a person out), the population has plummeted. Bumble, Tinder, and Hinge somewhat are the only places that people seem to be on anymore, and those sites/apps are even more superficial than meeting someone in person and dating them out of lust.
