I am all for OC games, just wish it used a different system that isn't so easily broken.
What superhero system would you recommend?

@Apos A solution to that is going the "every new character is a new arrival" route, so newbies don't have a faction that they belong to and aren't seen as trespassers or at least as dangerous trespassers.
Another option is simply going the route that Arx appears to be going and the one I would use, which is to make the territories off-grid areas that are handled by board game like mechanics.
@Tempest It does make you more durable, in that a hit that would, without armor, cause you damage or kill you now causes no damage at all.
@ixokai That would not surprise me. Steve Jackson Games tend to be a bag of dicks. It's why I avoid their products as much as possible.
@WildBaboons I had not heard of this series. It's a similar idea to Lovecraft's Dreamlands, I think.
@ShelBeast said in Interest Check: Assassin's Creed (CofD/2nd Ed) Game?:
I would worry about that, because like @Ominous said, with too narrow a focus, you could have a small number of players dominating things.
That's not what I said. I actually approve of a narrow focus. It keeps everyone on the same page and helps move the meta-plot along. See BSGU as a great example.
What I worry about is not having enough roles within a narrow focus.
What if before every scene, those entering the scene list their goal for the scene? That way right from the get-go, everyone knows what the scene is about and if it is something that needs to be arbitrated, they roll from the start, then work their way to the resolution that the roll or rolls gave. Combat can be handled the same way. Instead of doing blow by blow, you roll and see who the victor is and play it out with that result in mind.
Assassin's Creed is an interesting setting that has created a large franchise with lots of material; however, what will the players be doing? A great setting does not lead to great gameplay. Will they just be going around killing NPCs or each other? Other than being assassins or Templars, what other options are there? With so few niches, a small number of players could come to dominate the storyline.
@Misadventure Would this be viewable only by staff, who would check from time to time to see if you're sticking to the script, or would it be viewable by everyone? If the latter, that's a recipe for people metagaming. Though, I could see any argument for a 'reading people' or 'empathy' skill that would allow players to see parts of the list based on how high the skill is.
@Thenomain The humor I have used in this thread is textual, yes. I am referring to the humor that I used in the thread where the gif was originally posted, when I say that gifs are wonderful tools that can convey humor better than text in most cases.
I could have replaced my gif with "???" or "...what?", but I find those dull and not very funny. Whereas watching a guy look about in dazed confusion is much funnier to me. It's subjective.
As a serious reply to the thread topic, I see no reason not to allow such a feature, except for the time and effort it would take to implement it.

So, yeah, humor. We can all humor better.
No, you can humor better. As I have already established, I am a comedic gold mine, you philistine!
@Thenomain Text is a very poor communicator of comedy sadly, which is why gifs are such a wonderful tool. The body language conveyed by the gif communicates much more effectively than what most people can type.
@Thenomain It's not the person doing it; it's the expression itself in response to the situation.
Also, my reference to my posting of the image as comedic gold and statement that people are philistines is another comedic device.
@Thenomain Van Wilder. Deadpool. The Hitman's Bodyguard.
I love gifs that are used in a humorous manner. About 1-3 per page is good. After that it gets to be too much.
My confused Ryan Reynolds in the Shadowrun thread is comedic gold, you philistines!
Status symbols are overly expensive and still get purchased. Rational actors humans are not. One of the shortcomings of many Economics and Political Science models.
@Ganymede And harder to defend from others trying to take it for themselves.
@Apos Sure, I can write a story for Superman too. That's not the problem. The problem is when the Green Arrow and the kid from X-Men 2 who can change the channels on TV by blinking go with Superman on a mission. How do I provide a plot that will adequately challenge Superman and not vaporize the other two let alone allow them to contribute to the resolution?
@Kanye-Qwest This is a general response, not a specific one directed to you or Arx. Address xp bloat. Enforce niche protection. Create enough Superman-level plots to keep Superman busy so he doesn't have the time to sneeze hard in the direction of the Green Arrow-level plots, literally blowing them away, and run plenty of Green Arrow-level plots too, so Green Arrow has something to do.
