@Runescryer One could argue that given the events of the end of the Sandman run, it's an exercise in how much one point of view can change and still remain the same person. (That's as non-spoilery as I can get.)

RE: MUs That We Would Love To Make (But Won't)
The pledge ended, but there was a Kickstarter for a game, "Old Gods of Appalachia". (Yes, based off the podcast.)
I want it as a game, so bad. Eldritch horror in the mountains during the turn of the century? Gimme. (The idea is that there were gods that got imprisoned in the Appalachian mountains. They weren't ever meant to be released. But men came. And they dug too deep.)

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@Macha Someone close to me lost their dog some time ago and ended up with a new one about a year later. She still grieves for the loss of her first dog. Doesn't mean she loves the new one any less. Each relationship is its own.
Also, I think it was kinder of Remy's first family to keep the older dog who'd have more trouble adjusting and letting the younger one go to a good home.

RE: Too Much
@lotherio One of the games I was on did it so that most of the scenes were "anyone and everyone can sign up, but we're going to be splitting this into smaller groups."
The groups tended to be up to about 10, depending on size. Sometimes it worked brilliantly, sometimes not so much. All depended on the ST's mindset at the time and how invested the players were.

@derp I'm holding out for the Appalachians. There's going to be a whole book about that!

RE: The Mandalorian Feels
@Ghost I had to catch up on The Mandalorian before I let myself read this.
That is...really uplifting. I did not hate Jar Jar Binks, personally, although my favorite headcanon is that he was a Sith using a form of Drunken Monkey Kung Fu. It puts a whole new twist on everything he does. But man, no one hates like a Star Wars fan.

RE: Observation
@hobos Actually, we're not saying we're better. Well, I'm not. I'm saying I don't dread peeking in to see what's going on anymore. That's not a comparison statement or a values statement.

RE: Podcasts? Podcasts!
Old Gods of Appalachia
I honestly can't recommend this one enough, it's sort of Lovecraftian horror in the mountains and it's gorgeous. PLUS. Monte Cook Games just put out an RPG for it last year.

RE: The Case Against Real PBs
AI isn't actually an ethical solution, as it ends up ripping off real artists without compensation. It's useful and expedient but it isn't necessarily ethical.
Frankly, the entire argument against PBs isn't an argument against PBs, it's an argument against unethical players who are being manipulative. Which really means that you have to be vigilant about who you play with and what you're willing to get into with people you don't know.

RE: Book suggestions
I just read "Uprooted" by Naomi Novik and it pretty much blew me away. It didn't go where I thought it would, which made it a lot better, and it was a wild ride.
I know, I'm late to the party.

RE: Stranger Danger?
What I do is try to find the person who's a RL friend who wants the same kind of RP. Either come into the game with an established "relationship" or map out what the two of you want to happen in RP and actually stay in communication. Then we both have a shield from predators. This has worked on numerous games.
For meeting new people, there's always networking within the friend-group you have. "Do you know who this person is or know them from another game?"
But really, you are 100% in control of the information you give out, so be very sure before you give it out. Predators will stalk even without the personal info, so don't jump in with both feet the first time you chat with someone OOCly. If they're giving you their life story before you've even said hello, it's a red flag.

RE: Shows and Movies We're Looking Forward To
@derp I'm still squealing with anticipation on that one! I was in high school when the movie came out and I've been quoting bits of it ever since! (Especially the "You are drunk, and when you are drunk, you forget. I am in charge." The whole sequence.)

RE: What Would it Take to Repair the Community?
@faraday said in What Would it Take to Repair the Community?:
Which honestly makes me sad, because I don't think the MUSH community is big enough to sustain two separate discussion forums,
Thing is, we've already had people pointing out that they're on other communities that discuss gaming. Which means there are more out there that we just don't know about. Which means the MU community very much IS able to sustain two separate discussion forums and possibly more. There's a huge amount of people who MUsh and don't come to either MSB or BMD. Let's not make the mistake of thinking we're the only two shows out there. We're not. We're just loud.

RE: Dark Crystal game?
@fatefan Try the library. I'm also looking up The Dark Crystal to see what's out there and there's...a lot, actually. Creation myths and prequel stories and whatnot. But anything with Brian Froud's name attached will likely be original material, he's the one who created the world with Jim Henson.

@derp Luke? No. Leia was, but that's because she was adopted by royalty.

RE: What Would it Take to Repair the Community?
@Tez I'm not saying this is why people were banned, except Kestrel. I'm saying this is behavior that is no longer welcome. (I'm not speaking to past bannings, just the one that I was involved with.) Hope that clarifies it.
