I disagree that TS is always irrelevant to story. Rping out sex can have an impact on the intimacy of characters that is very difficult to replicate through simple ftb. Any kind of story can be off camera, but there is always more room to maneuver and express where you actually rp versus where you offscreen. Whether you are off camming the boning or the torture or whatever else.

RE: Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?
@Wretched Like ... ok but maybe I'm coming at this from a weird angle because I keep my fapping and my TSing separate as a rule, but who cares where the ftb point is? If the storyline is the same, there's no difference at all except how long the rp takes to get done since decent porn, like a good battle scene, takes longer to write. The problem this no TS as NPCer rule is aimed at is the problem of staffers spending too much time/attention/story/whatever on a particular PC and neglecting other shit because of it, not whether there is squelch involved.

RE: Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?
One character or player monopolizing all the attention of a particular npc is an issue that exists regardless of whether there is hanky panky involved, and is especially annoying when the player attempts to use it to throw their weight around ooc about how well connected they are. But while the sexytimes angle is and can be part of this I GUESS, I think making the issue sex instead of spotlighting is a mistake and muddies the waters.

RE: Difference between an NPC and a Staff PC?
A lot of the times PCs try to bone the npc either because they have a story goal that relates to it or they think the npc is hot. I usually ftb when npc fucking because who even has the time, but I often ftb when PC fucking for the same reason. No more TS for me, I'm old and I go to bed early.
I'm not going to shut down players from the sexy avenue because I'm scared of what people will think, tho.
HONESTLY the puritans have so much to answer for.

RE: What do you eat?
I love basically all food. I try to eat locally or sustainably sourced meat, fish, and produce when I can and am super impressed with some of the food science that goes into meat and sugar substitutes lately. Eating healthy is a struggle. I have health issues surrounding sugar and carbs that are a constant, CONSTANT battle. I respect people who have the discipline to do more limited diets but I just... I cannot. I'm sorry.

RE: Incentives for RP
I love running stuff FOR people but I find it kind of intimidating also because tailoring something to someone, you either have to know them really well, or be magic?

Tfw when a prp lasts for nine hours and you regret none of it.

RE: The OOC Masquerade ?
I find that when information is widely available there is a concomitant social pressure to minimally familiarize myself with it or Not Know What is Going On.

RE: The ADD/ADHD Thread (cont'd from Peeves)
I'm impressed with all of you sharing your stories. I'm sorry I don't really feel comfortable enough with mine to share it in a broad way right now. I have a weird diagnosis that is neither fish nor fowl and the short version is that I am frustrated about it. I'm being treated instead for the concomitant depression and anxiety that come with being an untreated neurodevelopmental problem.

RE: Saving Pages to the Database
Ultimately I think that @krmbm has made the real point here. If you don't trust your staff not to do this unethically, play somewhere else instead.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@Testament I loved the fuck out of that DLC, too.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@Testament Wow I love both of those DLCs, that's a hard call for me.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@Thenomain The game itself makes use of the unreliable narrator as a mechanic. There are points in the story where Cass literally interrupts Varric and makes him go back and say what actually happened when he gets too outlandish/self-protective. That's not in Inquisition, that is part of DA2.

RE: What's your nerd origin story?
My parents definitely raised me this way. We read together a lot when I was little, many nerd books (starting with the Hobbit and then onwards). Also, all the Star Trek. ALL OF IT. When I was 10 or so, my mom penciled several pages of a graphic novel adaptation of my favorite Star Trek novel at the time, and she tried to teach me how to ink comics on those. I look back on that now in horror of what I did with her lovely pencil art.

RE: Real World Peeves, Disgruntlement, and Irks.
This week, I have:
lost 1 job (of two)
broken 1 paper shredder
driven 1 parent to the ER
stained my second favorite shirt with coffee
spilled approximately 3 pounds of goddamned paper discovery all over the floor of an elevator
had a parent admitted to the hospital with the pneumonia (on her second trip to the ER of the week)
may have to cancel a vacation i was really looking forward to due to above-mentionedaaaand i just broke my motherfucking fingernail. Can I be done now please?

RE: Sexuality: IC and OOC
Like, sorry for double post, but to clarify, my point was more that manic pixie dreamgirl is one of those tropes that is definitely popularized based on its relevance to MEN, and I don't doubt that dudes playing lesbians often think they are being "chic" about this, but I've seen female players fall into the same trap. I think the extensive appearance of the trope in all forms of media contributes to that a great deal. People thinking that it's a "right" way to play a woman because that's how they seem women portrayed all over the place -- even people who should know better.

RE: Sexuality: IC and OOC
Manic pixie dreamgirls are everywhere. They are not always played by men, either.
