Grump. Apparently my underwriter (we're buying a house) can't believe that a teacher would get a massive pay increase from one year to the next. So I have extra hoops to jump through before we can close. Unfortunately right now our HR is at skeleton levels between the virus and summer break. So it'll be a bit difficult to get the paperwork filled out.

In previous years I could just drive up there and stand at the front desk till someone could see me but not this year. Soooo many phone calls and emails now. >.>

I wish they'd given me more than 5 business days before we close to do it. >.<

I am so ticked off by the fact that I'm getting charged $520 for turning my apartment keys in despite having signed an agreement to pay rent till August 1st.

I went full Karen tonight and will be doing it at the boss tomorrow. Not ONCE was I warned, "Hey, you turn this in and we charge you x." I am ticked. I am about to go down and demand my keys back and I'll keep them till August 1st to save myself $500.

I only have 24 babies on my class list! (This is way better than the 29 (?) they were thinking.)

Downside, 11 of those we honestly don't know if:
A) they are going to choose our district'ts virtual option (this means they stay on my class list, but I'm not responsible for their instruction until January when they can transition back)
b) they are going to choose to be virtual but in //my// classroom (I am responsible for their virtual education)
c) they are going to show up on day 1 with all their stuff and need to be taught
c) they aren't returning at all to our school district/my school

So.

My principal found my crying place today, so I can't use it any more.

I really love when IT picks up, fixes my problem, and I'm able to get back to my work.

One of my teacher friends was told by her admin that if she couldn't handle this year they would just find someone who would. Makes you realize your worth.

The last time I had Indian food I got violently ill after - and it wasn't the food because my husband ate most of my plate when it was too spicy for me.

So it has been a few years.

But I woke up ready to try again and we did. So far so good and thus I'm feeling hopeful!

(The food was amazing tasing both times.)

I'm so tired of fighting a system that isn't helping our highest needs kids.

It's not just my school - I've yet to be in a public education building where there were adequate supports for the babies who aren't classified in all areas as 'normal'. I'm convinced this kind of school simply don't exist.

Instead I'm putting in the time to do research. I'm putting in the effort to innovate. Then when I ask for support... I don't get what I actually need.

I am so sorry. Every bit of love possible as you go through the grieving process.

I am utterly shattered right now. We were suppose to go back in person starting Monday, but today they abruptly made the decision not to.

I just had a parent text me (yes, I did give out my cell phone number because parents need every fucking tool they can get their hands on right now) and tell me about how shattered her kid is. He was suspended before we went remote the first time and she just said, "He was so ready to be a good egg" and I'm just... heart broken.

I get what you're saying - I really honestly do. It's a good sentiment. But it's too simple.

My my kids are by every definition //clinically depressed// and several of them receive their professional counseling through the school itself. By being outside of school they're not receiving those services.

The kids are building the patterns in their mind that are going to last them for years. So many of us here know how hard it is to shake those patterns, and it's not any different for kids.

We're sacrificing one kind of safety for another.

I get it. I DO GET IT. I'll never judge anyone for making the choices they make. I can't get mad at my district for making this call.

But the kids are not alright. They're not anywhere close to alright. Yes, they're alive... but some of them are starting to think it would be better to not be.

That is fucking scary.

I'm sorry. The cost is a big reason why we didn't continue to pursue fertility options once we moved to Colorado. My insurance does cover a little (aka, 500, which is not enough even for the initial tests they will need to do since they won't accept any we had done in Arizona.)

Having a doctor who knows how to code shit into the system is so important too.

After eleven years of marriage it shouldn't be a surprise when my husband's definition of cleaning doesn't fit mine. Don't get me wrong! I am greatful he does the dishes.

But "cleaning the kitchen" to him means ONLY washing the dishes and wiping down around anything on the counters.

Mine involves putting everything away, throwing the tiny debris, dead flowers, picking up and wiping down all the surfaces, scrubbing the oven top, and at least sweeping up the visible stuff from the floor.
