What shitstorm around pokemon?
As somebody who hasn't played it since...2nd Gen? I'm pretty 'who cares' about the whole "you can't get all 900+ pokemon!"
I'm still going to get it, because it's a Pokêmon game, but I'm a bit peeved. It's not about not being able to get all 5 billion pokémen. It's about not being certain if I'll be able to have my favorite pokęmons on my team. Because at the end of the day, having a fun lineup is what's best about Pokəmon.
Yeah, I will be sad if I can't bring my favorite Kyogre along for the ride. Or the one particular Arceus I've had for what seems like forever. Or a couple of others, like my starter buddies from past games. Or various other mythical I've caught. But I do recognize that they're redoing all the models and animations for higher-fidelity—after all, Pokémon Go and Pokémon Let's Go! both are using the 3DS-era models and animations, which are okay, but not really meant for the high-resolution interfaces they're now being used for. And redoing every single Pokémon in the National Pokedex is not a small task. I can totally understand why they didn't do every single one for this first game. They've strongly suggested that the next game in this generation will have more of the National Dex.
And I know (from what's been shown in trailers) that I'll be able to transfer in my favorite Wishiwashi, my favorite Snorlax, and—most importantly—my beloved Arcanine, Wulf, who's been dragged along through pretty much every Pokémon game I've ever played.
So I shall be content, even if it turns out I have to let poor Kyogre, and Arceus, and the Four Swords of Justice, and Solgaleo, and all the other various favorites who would otherwise come along to play stay in the Pokémon Bank vault and sit this particular game out.
