One of my instincts was to make it like two or three cities (not geographically connected) and have each sphere have their own city. That way things would progress only for the city but also offering mutlisphere.

I have a lot to think on, but I was really just putting out feelers to see what the interest level might be. I am not saying I am or am not going through the process to make a game, but it is food for thought.

Hey, whatever you do, man, I hope you knock it out of the park. Making a game is hard, and I think one of the toughest things when making a game is finding a good balance between your own gut feeling/desires with the game AND the opinions/wants of other people/potential players. For all it is worth, if you need help setting up a wiki, I can help you with that.

I like the idea of the three cities, btw, if you do it more or less like a comic book sort of thing: rare events that cross over, but mostly everyone sticks to their own side of the game. If you have people that know what they are doing with each Sphere, you could have a real gem in your hands.

I am a Werewolf the Apocalypse and Vampire the Masquerade fanatic. I would love to see this project off the ground, and hope you go for all speed ahead! If you need opinions or ideas (of dubious usefulness), poke me!

Add-on #1: I have noticed that Old WoD games tend to try catering to all oWoD fans and making a nightmarish, jumbled melting pot of EVERYTHING that really only makes the game not feel at all like the settings they are based on (unless you are making a Dirty Secrets of the Black Hand game! Yeah, I went there). I think, and I have no concrete proof of this, that if you pick a Sphere, build a cohesive atmosphere with it, make it a good game, people who don't play oWoD will also play it. We are all writers and creative people, and a lot of us are just looking for a game that feels special to really pour some hours into.

Add-on #2: Make Salubri and/or Salubri antitribu available.

Add-on #3: Don't listen to her! She is just a stupid fangirl! Make the game you want!

Add-on #4: Srsly, tho. Salubri are the best.

Only if it is single-Sphere, to be fair. Almost all of the oWoD games I've seen are 'everything goes' and I feel that dilutes the theme and vibe so much I have no desire to even app (and I will app anywhere to give it a go)! So either Werewolf and Vampire, I am super down with.

My experience with Vampire is to use only the Sabbat and/or Camarilla sects. I know players will want ALL the sects and ALL the clans/bloodlines, but spreading the player base thin in these games has proven to be a bad thing, from what I observed in the past.

Make it pre-Gehenna, truly classic. Maybe 2nd Edition/3rd Edition 'lore'.

    • RE: Game Concept: Paying for rare things

@Ganymede I am not sure this is what Bobotron meant, Ganymede. The Rarity System from the vampire game I played was used to allow the hyper rare Bloodlines to remain rare, and to give players incentives to play 'the norm'. It wasn't meant to ridicule or say 'your concept is bad and you should feel bad' but more like... how do you make something rare in a world, and STILL let it be available to all players? Everyone can earn XP, but apparently 'dat starting XP' kept a lot of people from choosing the rare stuff, and the rare stuff remained rare.

This is coming from someone who super played a snowflake with less XP when allwoed! X)

      I agree.

The Rarity System from MET does an amazing job in controlling the snowflakeness in a game, and the game I first came in contact with that used it experienced a lot of success with it.

@Botulism Werewolves in Forsaken are not more or less prone to stay in the city or wilderness. Aren't you guys mixing them with oWoD Apocalypse's?

Geist is awesome, but incredibly overwpowered on a multi-sphere game, so we aren't taking it. Sorry.

      What about Werewolf? Similar reason?

    • Fallen World MUX 1.0

      Greetings, Sleeping masses!

Fallen World is a Mage: The Awakening 2nd Edition game set in Manhattan, NY, where, years ago, the Seers of the Throne won. By betraying an alliance with the Pentacle, the Seers sent the Orders scattering in the wind. The Adamantine Arrow, Free Council, Guardians of the Veil, Mysterium and Silver Ladder lost everything. Now, four years later, a new generation of mages flock to Manhattan with its unsolvable Mysteries and its lost treasures. And they want it all. In secrecy they pour back into hostile territory to take back what is theirs by birthright, in pursuit of the Supernal and vengeance against the men and women of the Iron Pyramid.

Setting: January 2017, The Occult Warzone of Manhattan

The Pentacle has recently gained a foothold in Manhattan and founded its new Consilium in abandoned chambers under the Grand Central Station. While the young mages fight to overcome their distrust with the grizzled veterans the Mysterium attempts to take back their Athenaeum and the Guardians of the Veil stare at the precipice of another Austere crisis.

The Seers of the Throne observe from their Hallows hundreds of meters above the ground, guarding the Fallen World for their masters while juggling the increasingly more troublesome Pentacle insurrection and their own backstabbing colleagues.

The Tremere act in silence, draining the very soul of the Fallen World to feed the Seventh Watchtower somewhere beneath Manhattan, the soulstones of the former Councilors in their possession. Ansho come and go all over the island, denying mages of their greatest advantage over their foes.

Vampiric alliances of the Silver Ladder watch a war they can barely comprehend from the dimmest corners of Manhattan while the Lupine gangs of Brooklyn salivate at the thought of revenge against the mages who captured and experimented on their brethren.

Manhattan is a small island, but a mage’s work is never done.

      Fallen World features:

Fallen World 1.0: We have been open since July, but since then we have made many changes to the game based on player feedback! New policies have been made in regards to alts, uncapping experiences, Sanctums, crafting, Perfected Materials, Legacies, Order Requisitioning, Status, Dynasties and much more! If you are a first timer or was looking to get your mage back on, the time is now!

Influence The Outcome: The mages of Manhattan recently saved the remnant of a Dynasty that has since become available for play. The Consilium has been formed and decides how to tackle the threats besieging the Pentacle from all sides. Deciding the direction of war as a Councilor of the Consilium or Voter of the Free Council, as a front line spellcaster or Sleepwalking Ansho explorer, there is much to be done and many things to explore.

Weekly Stories: Our team of storytellers is organized and equipped to provide the game with a lot of chaos and fun, running at least one scene per week in relation to one of the bigger plots of the game. We are also always looking for more people willing to run scenes for others!

      TL;DR

      M:tAw 2E! Manhattan! JOIN US AT FALLENWORLDMUX.COM PORT: 1984!

I made a new thread but the feedback we got from the previous one was not forgotten, it was taken to heart and it helped us improve and take the shape we have nowdays! Thanks to everyone who was so respectful and insightful in light of my shortcomings! ❤

    • RE: House Rules vs Rules as Written

I think part of the reason why many systems and character concepts dont work is because we throw players in a MU and expect tabletop systems to function in a completely different environment they were designed for.

IMO House Rules should be used shift the already faulty and unbalanced tabletop mechanics to a MU environment, so I guess Im in the small camp that believes they should be used more.

Also... "poluting the community with expectations" seems to be a community problem not a HR problem?

For from a mechanical standpoint, I tried doing Masquerade in the nWoD system back in the day. Lots os little merits and unique discs in the clan pages. http://wiki.finalnightsmux.com/wiki/Main_Page

BUt I would love the idea of adapting Apocalypse to Forsaken systems and playing that. I even did a Get of Fenris sheet for WoD once upon a time!

      @Bobotron said in Historical MU*s:

I can't say I wouldn't enjoy seeing a Dark Ages Vampire game. Perhaps something set a little later, just prior to all the War or Princes or during the War of Princes, just before the formation of the Inquisition. No historical accuracy necessary.

Or a Victorian Changeling the Dreaming, set in Victorian London and drawing heavily from (again) historical sources without any historical accuracy. Draw from Black Butler, and I'd be happy.

Dark Ages plz. Vampire Dark Ages theme and Diablo I feels.

And just to clarify a further, @surreality did offer to take over paying for BITN, which TJ decided he didn't want. (And, best I can tell, this had nothing to do with surr in particular, and was a general desire to see the game end.) Afaik, surr was simply offering to take over paying for it, if that was the reason behind closing it. Oh, and, also, she wanted her pretty wiki to stay up and available to the public.

For all its worth, that wiki will forever live in my heart, no matter what. u___u
