    • RE: Marian/Skye @ Arx

That's good to hear. I hadn't kept in as good a contact with her as I should've, considering for a long time we spoke on quite regular basis. It did become harder when she made her huge timezone shift, but I tried to check in occasionally.

I'm glad that she's okay(beyond being really busy). Granted, this does make me kick myself for being a bad friend and not checking up more often.

@roz I don't know why that makes me irrationally angry. Not the art, the tablet cash register.

I get it. I get it. But I really don't get it.

Here's the question that I'm wondering that others may of had as well. If there's other characters from other worlds, does that mean we can play a character we've played on another MU here? Just, you know, their sleeping part.

Either way, I'm interested. Original concepts I'm down with.

@wizz Air purifier. The noise it makes is better than a fan.

Even though...it is a fan. I don't get it, but it's a great tool for noise cancellation. Maybe it just operates on a particular frequency that tinnitus is at. Not sure. But it helps me sleep at night.

And hey, might as well have cleaner air while you're at it.

Just want to say that I'm going to play the fuck out of this game once my work week is done. Devoting my weekend to it.

@cobalt Madison, Wisconsin is pretty low rent payments and I'd say Madison is a bastion of progressiveness in an otherwise purple state.

That said, I could potentially find you work in the lab where I work in. That is, if you're okay pipetting poop at $16/hour.

    • RE: What's your nerd origin story?

@Arkandel True, but his death was kind of foreshadowed a couple times. Still, his death had a huge impact on how the story followed. Especially in bringing honor back to previously disgraced knighthood. And really, I feel like if you have to pick your death, I imagine that's how Strum would've liked to of gone out.

There are times that while I may dislike aspects of my parents for particular things they do(mostly my dad for being brilliant and egotistical at the same time never living up to his expectations and making him look bad), the one thing I'm so damn grateful for is at least we're all aligned in world view and ideologies. My parents are divorced, but being the child of a pair of Vietnam war protestors and union workers has paid off in that respect at least.

My brother is a completely different story.

    • RE: Active Games?

@icanbeyourmuse This seems to be a running thing on newer games lately. Creating smaller games with smaller playerbases that are built around 'when people are around', thus giving less desire or need to be logging on every day and being able to give greater focus on its players.

I think this is a great trend for an aging playerbase who're entering into their 30s, 40s, and probably older.

@Testament Sturm Brightblade's end... man. That was harsh.

Man when Sturm <SPOILER> that got me good. I had to put the book down for a week. I loooooved Sturm. Hell, if Dragonlance ever got the Lord of the Rings film treatment, I'm still lobbying for Sam Elliot.

The book came out in 1984. I was two years old at the time. I think we're way past spolier warnings at this point.

The fact that my state sill has not legalized recreational pot use. You know, it's really something when every single state around you has legalized it and is likely just raking in the tax revenue to the point where state politicians from neighboring states is mocking your state leadership for 'thanking them' for keeping pot sales illegal.

At least my city has decriminalized it, even if it literally means nothing to state and federal law.

Honestly, I don't know if pot would help reduce my tinnitus slightly, but really, I'm willing to try just about anything. Also, not for nothing, but I do miss it.

    • RE: Development Thread: Sacred Seed

This kind of has a Jim Butcher vibe to it insofar that it slightly reminds me of it. I forget the name of the book series, but it was the one where he basically mashed Pokemon and the Roman Legion together. Someone is going to name it and I'm going to feel stupid for forgetting it.

That all said, I'd love there to be some kind of Steel Seed.

    • RE: Poll: Do I enjoy this hobby more than I don't?

I think I'd enjoy it more if life allowed more time to dedicate to it. But I don't, so I'm overall tend to be kind of meh on RPing in general. I still do it, because somewhere, I remember how much fun it was.

On the upside to that, most of the political OOC drama an whatnot, I can't say I care too much about. Which is nice, considering at once point, I did. That either may be chalked up to maturity or really the fact I don't have enough time.

Most days, I go back and forth on whether or not I still enjoy it.

    • RE: Dead Celebrities 2021 Edition

@boneghazi This is fucking crushing, because I've been reading Berserk for the last 15 years. I had always assumed it would one day be finished, and we'd all see that fated rematch between Guts and Griffith.

His art was simply on another level when it came to manga artists. And yeah, I know that he had been collaborating with other artists the last few years but it was still of an insane quality.

    • RE: Spars and fights

I did TKD for a number of years and also picked up on some Kendo years ago, when I was younger and had a body that wasn't partially broken down. For the amount I was taught, there is the ability to be really technical in poses during a fight scene. I've written them just to see what it would look like, and to me, it reads real boring. Now that could be me, but I'm not sure the need to include, 'by rotating his wrist and forearm halfway clockwise, he was able to pull at the opponent's elbow, pulling down, which offset the other's center of balance....blah blah blah'.

Personally, I think it's just better(and easier)if the majority of the details are glossed over. But then again, I like it when most fight scenes are a recreation of They Live between Roddy Piper and Keith David.
