@aria I do believe Mihaly's opinion is simply, "Dear, please, the neighbors are watching."

RE: The Churn: an Expanse game
@auspice So you're still reading Caliban's War? That one I think is the most faithful of the books to tv in the three seasons so far.
Once you read Abaddon's Gate and then watch season three, there were a lot of liberties taken. The main plot points are there, so it doesn't skimp on that. Just some things like how the PoV perspective of Bull in the book is transposed on Drummer in the series.
There's a lit of big and small changes in the third book to the third season, but I don't think it's bad. I think they're both really good on different merits.
I could nitpick the first book and first season, how Holden didn't call in the distress call on the Scopuli. How they weren't stranded in space until the Donnager showed up.
Mostly, I think I'm just happy to talk about the material with people who've also watched the show/read the books. Seriously, I keep looking for people at my work and nobody has heard of The Expanse.
Breaks my damn heart.

RE: Personal Agency for Personal Boundaries
What worries me is that a system like this could be abused so that someone could make sure that nothing bad ever happened to their character ever.
There are already enough players who feel that any negative consequences to their actions on a game is infringing on what they believe they're comfortable with.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@crawfish That's up to you, I think. It's just as viable to set up a Patreon, or if you're not comfortable that, reaching out to these people who're offering to help privately.
Either would work, seems like.

RE: Saving Pages to the Database
Also, if you gotta be weird/creepy/flirty/TS-crazy/WHATEVER.....
There's Discord for that.
I mean, if you're gonna do that, at least be smart about it. It's no fun mocking people for that kind because they just don't know any better. C'mon.

RE: Faraday Appreciation Thread
She's alright.
I kid, I have good memories from various Ares-based games. Other already here have already said more times over of the good one has done for the hobby. Just gonna echo that statement. -
RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@crawfish Well. You could just tell people to send money to this PayPal address if you want to donate. That always works too.

RE: RL things I love
Remember when you could work on your own car with only a miminal amount of automobile knowledge? Change oil, a tire, spark plugs, stuff like that and it was always more or less dummy proof.
You could, if you were feeling frisky, do a brake replacement or rotar swap if you had the tools for it.
I have 2017 Charger. I love it, I call her Rachel. Two weeks ago, the car started having a rough or hard idle. In my head I had three well know options: spark plug, fuel injectors, or vacuum line(a friend said motor mount which was also a possibility).
I decided to change the spark plugs because, why not, that tends to be the most frequent reason. I had to take apart a decent amount just to get to them. And turns out that wasn't even what was wrong(it was one fuel injector).
I'm very happy I got my dark blue speed machine back. But I won't deny that I'm just a touch salty about how much effort I had to put in to replace something that maybe took me an hour on older cars.
Modern cars are nice, but man, I really miss working on stuff that was easier. Still, I'm happy my car drives again.

RE: Welcome to the Euphoria!
I will totally alpha test. Just throwing that out there.

RE: Fantasy Avatar Generator
In all fairness, this generator I'm pretty sure does female characters a lot better than male. I couldn't find anything decent for my alt.

RE: 2021 E3 Hype
The only E3 presentation you needed to pay any attention to was Devolver Digital's.

RE: Virtual table-top
The campaign I'm currently in was run through roll20 at first, now we're using VTT.
What I will say is that VTT is very resource demanding for your computer. I did notice the 15% uptick in CPU temperature tonight while I was playing.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@auspice Bought it. Thanks for the suggestion.
And hey, five bucks is five bucks.

The Expanse.
That is all.

RE: General Video Game Thread
For those of you that saw the 'trailer' for the Skyrim Very Special Edition, it's an actual thing for those of you that have an Alexa.
I don't, but for those of you that do, try it and report back.

RE: The basketball thread
@warma-sheen said in The basketball thread:
I'm sure he would not be holding that trophy without a ton of injuries around the league. It takes just the right number of high profile injuries on the biggest teams in the league to put them there.
I mean, I think this outlook is a slippery slope to allowing in people saying "Yeah, but without X happening, then Y wouldn't of won out, so this puts in the legitimacy of how good Y really is as a player/team/etc."
And this isn't just a comment on basketball, but pretty much any major sport.
