Here's hoping that Marvel shrugs and decides to plumb the depths of their eighty years of superheroics to see if they can't find any other conflicted teenage hero trying to use their abilities for good while balancing that with an actual life and family obligations while reflecting a diversity of background and experience. And if they could already be a really popular character that'd be cool, too.

But where would we find such a character? Such a beautiful unicorn?

Thanks for helping us look, Kamala! I'm sure we'll find him!

Saying this as a huge Disney fanboy and not-insignificant shareholder, Disney's being dickish here. They only got 5%, but they get 100% on every other front. There's no Spider-Man action figure from which Sony gets a dime. That official Miles Morales body pillow Jaded bought at Bronycon? Sony doesn't see a bit. And that merchandising money is tremendous compared to what they get from the movie.

Sony was being bullheaded in refusing to give, though I think that the success of (the fantastic) Into the Spider-Verse and (the pretty shitty, but successful) Venom have given them some big britches. But you can tell how fucked this situation is that when Disney announced there would be no more MCU Spidey Sony was sent reeling. They thought the discussions were still ongoing. But Disney decided to turn the whole thing directly over to the court of public opinion.

All of which is to say...

Total revenue for Sony last year was about $78.1 Billion (remember, Sony Pictures is only one part of Sony).

Considering how often SPE has been on the verge of being cut loose by Sony Corp, I'm not sure that they would agree with rolling their profits in together like that.

Let's say I recently suffered a traumatic brain injury and decided I needed to pronounce FYI in some way other than the letters.

Why in the hell would I ever pronounce it 'fwee' or 'fwy' instead of 'fyee' or 'fy-eye'? It's not FWI.

Anyway, someone pronouncing FYI as anything other than eff-wy-eye' is almost certainly someone's way of signaling that they've been kidnapped and we're really letting them down right now.

Wait, were you the cool Brigida who left a gift for Calista?

That was me! She intimidated an assassin into changing his life for the better at a Fidante family dinner!

Still kinda bugs me that the dagger's desc has a typo in it.

So, Teen Titans Go. Yeah, it’s pretty good.

When Movie Bob started reviewing Teen Titans Go! to the Movies with despondency about all the meta that Go! brought to the field of wacky cartoons I was sure he was going to pan it throughout, but about halfway through his review he effortlessly went from cringing at the kid-focused Titans to praising its creativity and delightful satire. “3 1/2 Stars” is a sincere recommendation from Mr. Chapman.

Going to see which streaming service has it.

      Hulu has the whole run.

Mayor Goodway is just the degree of incompetent that might expect from a city that has contracted all emergency services out to a ten year old and his pet dogs.

You should start with The Firm, since it's the most well known book. Then work your way out from there. A Time to Kill. The Pelican Brief. Like that.

Is there any way to turn off the arrow keys to scroll the main screen? It's tiresome as hell when I am trying to edit a pose and accidentally hit the up arrow when at the top of the pose and it causes my whole screen to pop up a line.

Ugh I'm so mad about how good The Good Place continues to be every week.

Well, you can stop being mad because it won't be that good next week!

Because that was the season finale.

So be mad about that instead.

You say beautiful things that I love.

He already got his own show. It only had one season and then got cancelled because everything sucks and is terrible and people aren't ready for a show like it and the universe hates us 😞

Oh, I know! That show should never have been on NBC in the first place, really. So CW owes us a new show! With the same cast. I loved his buddy.

The Orville has been great this season with a lot of character focused episodes.

That said, I wouldn't mind them getting back to missions and away teams and such.

I can't remember the last time a show so challenged its audience the way the porn addiction episode did. That was a lot of beefy alien on beefy alien action and I wonder how many people turned it off.

Also, I finally caught up on last season of Legends of Tomorrow. While I really hated the dumb Nazi crossover* I loved the rest of the season. It one hundred percent embraced how fucking dumb and goofy these shows are. And no matter how many times they bring him back and overuse him, I'll never get tired of Neil McDonough's genial psychopath Damien Darhk. Also, also, also CW I love Matt Ryan as Constantine please make him a regular part of the crew next season and then give him his own show or at least do a sort of JL Dark show with him as the lead!

The best tweet on CW shows:

      https://twitter.com/statuses/1027079474951544837

"I’ve seen a lot of people knock the acting on the CW like any of you know how to convincingly cry on cue looking at a greenscreen wizard that’s also your dead mom from the future while delivering an earnest endorsement of Bing."

"Literally everyone who has said “Gorilla Grodd” without breaking deserves an Emmy. Fuck You guys. I couldn’t do it."

That said, no desire to watch any of the other CW shows except maybe Black Lightning. I'll watch the crossovers, but I really don't need a full season (much less two) of the Grim Adventures of Ollie and Barry.

The Good Place continues to be amazing, but Superstore continues to be one of the most underrated shows on TV.

*Guys, we're in the future where the Nazis won, ALSO they did a bad job of realizing the evil versions of the characters, and it was hard to believe that the good Supergirl, good Arrow, good Flash plus a dozen other superheroes would have a hard time with the bad version of Arrow, the bad version of Supergirl and the bad version of the Flash. Like, that's three evenly matched people, but then the good side also had Firestorm, Killer Frost, Vibe, Arrow's dumb team, White Canary, Steel, Atom and, though they keep sending him away, a SECOND good Flash.

If Donut Country ever hits $5, folks, either buy it or beg a friend to gift it to you. Then just settle in under a blanket and enjoy.

The Trashopedia by itself is worth $5.

Guys, I got a Switch for Christmas and lemme say this Breath of the Wild game is pretty okay!

@pyrephox said in General Video Game Thread:

@arkandel Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a huge action JRPG. If you like JRPGs, it's a great example of the kind, and has a lot to do. Tales of Vesperia is also a JRPG, and should be coming out this week.

XBC2's mediocrity combined with its gross fanservice made me weep bitter tears given how much I loved XBC1 and the way you could set a separate wardrobe from the armor so you could ignore the gross fanservice.

@auspice said in General Video Game Thread:

I'm waiting for a good sale price to get Donut Country. I want it! But I just don't have the $20 for it just now.

I paid $10 and was glad I did. The game's short, as said above, but it's a goddam delight. There's a bit in the end that could be my only RL LOL from a video game in years.
