We have lots of WoD games. We can have more than one Eclipse Phase game (especially as none exist at all at the moment).

I am in a terrible spending spiral, and ordering out way too much. Like how lazy am I, when I can't fucking be arsed to boil pasta?
This is simple to make. Like, dead simple. The hardest part is slicing and peeling the garlic, but it's so worth it. And it's dirt cheap.
I have made this stuff so much during COVID. It just doesn't get old. I seriously recommend that you give it a shot. You might end up eating out less just because this stuff isn't on the menu.
And if you're trying to stay away from carbs, no reason you can't use spaghetti squash. If you don't think of it as a substitute for pasta (it's not) it's quite good.

RE: Spotlight.
I think, if a game offers roster characters, it's not unreasonable to believe that the character will have the opportunity to be a hero at some point. A roster character is, in effect, officially sanctioned. If this is not the case, there should be a huge WARNING: SPEAR CARRIER across the top of the page.

Why, though? I mean, pasta is low GI food.
And very high in carbs. Carbs metabolize into sugar.

RE: Getting Involved (and getting other people involved)
Generally speaking, and I stress generally, when a player becomes ST and runs a scene, their character is either not involved at all or is used as an NPC to spur the action along. This varies depending on the game culture WoD vs supers vs whatever but I think that /generally/ that's often the case.
As to what an ST is, it's the GM. The DM. The guy who comes up with a plot, either long term or one off, and runs it for other players. It can either be planned in detail or completely spur of the moment. It can be a backyard barbecue, a bank robbery or an invasion of aliens. The barbecue could be purely social or be invaded by aliens. The bank robbery could be over in a round and move on to pure social to give the heroes the opportunity to meet each other.
It can literally be anything the fits the setting. And anyone can do it. That's why things like OOC Rooms and OOC channels are so important. They let players coordinate these things and get them going.

RE: Stuff Done Right
@ThatOneDude Though just looking at +where and seeing who's IC can do the same thing. With one caveat: STOP idling in public IC rooms people! I hate that. While I dislike the unfindable flag in general, build a private room and set it unfindable. Or just go the Quiet Room.

Dear immune system:
I know that the first dose of the Moderna vaccine taught you how to fight the Covid 19 virus. And the second dose is a training exercise where you martial all your forces and battle the fauxvader in a war to the death. I realize that the reason I feel horrible is because you're doing your job and doing it very well. That being said,

@insomniac7809 I get that, I guess I just don't get the people who want the label and are trying to take it back. I mean, does doing good need a label? If you stand for something, stand up for it. I'm not saying being an SJW is a bad thing, but if I ever used it, it would be using it on people who are already acting like asshats in the first place.
Again it goes back to the whole intent thing and not really being able to read tone in writing.
Possibly because they refuse to buy into the right wing party line. Just like how the American Right, years ago, redefined liberal in order to insult and dismiss anyone on the left, they're doing the same with SJW. It's a favorite tactic in their play book.

RE: Health and Wealth and GrownUp Stuff
@ortallus I had my second Moderna dose last month. I felt exactly like I had the flu. I stayed home from work for 2 days, went in on day 3 since I felt better but still like shit. Day 4 I was nearly fine.

The size of the events just kept me from even trying to get involved. 5 people is about my limit. A dozen just drives me away.

RE: Forgiveness in Mushing
Personally, I think MSB is only a microcosm of the internet as a whole and there's no thing about this hobby that is in any way different. See 4chan for instance. Or any comment section. Further, I think the internet is just humanity in general with anonymity and what you see is what you get.
How does that apply to this thread? I think that it applies in the same exact way to forgiveness and forgetting. People don't forget. Ever. The phrase 'Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.' was coined long before the internet was a thing. As for forgiveness...
Offline, there are repercussions for behavior that you can't escape. You also can't type 'quit' or put someone on an ignore list. You might 'forgive' someone in word, publicly, solely for the sake of social obligations and pressures. But they don't, not really. Not completely. I'm sure some particularly altruistic ones might but you'll also see the reasoning that forgiving someone is as much for yourself as for them so you're not carrying it around with you. It's arguable if that's truly forgiveness of that other person or just healthy selfishness.
Of course, it also depends on how close to someone you are. Speaking for myself, very, very few people online are close enough to me to truly affect me in some way which makes forgiveness kind of moot. That's not to say I'll ever forget what happened. Depending on what it is, they might be given the benefit of the doubt or a second chance or just ignored.

Goddammit. Royal Wedding and 7 Brides for 7 Brothers are two of my favorite musicals!
Interesting bit of trivia about Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. The story is basically based on the Roman legend 'the Rape of the Sabine Women' (which is actually an inaccurate translation as the Latin root doesn't imply sexual assault but kidnapping). In fact, the song 'Sobbin' Women' makes allusions to it. Sobbin' = Sabine.

Ok but like, who wants to go all in on building a dragon breeding code with me for my game idea.
Anyone?
One day, I will do it. Because a dragon breeding minigame sounds fun as shit. And by one day, you guys know what I mean.
So everyone can have a gold of their own?

RE: Good TV
I kind of want someone to make a parody of LOTR that is that.
While not like that, there is Bored of the Rings which definitely has its amusement value. And lets not forget The Very Secret Diaries which are even better and free.

RE: Recipes and Shit
Jewish For A Day
So, here's a recipe for the best potato pancakes I've ever had. I'd been channel surfing many years ago and landed on PBS just as they were announcing the next show: recipes from a real NYC Jewish deli that had been in the family for generations.
But first, a recipe for schmaltz (chicken fat). It's optional (not really) but makes the potato pancakes (everything) taste so much better. Right @Cupcake?
How to make chicken fat (schmaltz):
Remove fat from raw chickens/pieces: small bits of skin should be included
Freeze fat till you've got about 8+ ounces
Chop a small onion (clove of garlic is also good in addition)
Season with 1/2 tsp salt
Put everything in a frying pan and simmerFat will be rendered into a liquid
Simmer for 15 minutes or so to get it well seasoned
Strain into a jar
Refrigerate for later use: lasts a while, can also be frozen
Eat gribenes (leftover skin and onions) for a yummy, artery clogging snackNow for the main dish.
Potato Latkes (pancakes)
1 1/2 lb potato - finely grated
1 1/4 cup onion - finely chopped
2 eggs - beaten
1/2 cup flour
1 cup matzo meal
3 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp baking powder1 Tbl chicken fat (optional (not really))
cooking oilNote: adjust potato/onion ratio to your taste.
Press potato in a strainer to remove excess water
Combine all well
Heat oil and chicken fat in skillet till sizzling
Form patty out of mixture
Fry in oil till golden brown on each side
Remove to paper towel to drain excess fat
Eat while hot
Good with a dollop of sour cream. Apple sauce isn't bad either.Notes:
Check Jewish section of supermarket for matzo meal
Chicken fat can be excluded (not really) but improves the flavor
