    • RE: SPOILERS - The Force Awakens

Okay, that was fucking amazing. My first thought watching it was 'This is the Star Wars I remember.' My second thought watching it was 'This IS the Star Wars I remember.' I don't care. It was amazing. It was a fantastic story the first time and it still is. I consider it an homage to Star Wars in addition to advancing the story and being a damn fine movie in its own right.

I remember watching the original when it first came out in the theater and this took me right back to it. I'll be less pleased if the next two movies are just retellings as well but this brought it alive again.

@Auspice The solstice has passed. The days are growing longer. Rejoice, spring is coming. (Sure, we're still going to have some heavy snowstorms and frigid days but go with it.)

@prototart We have a Wicked on Marvel: 1963. I've literally never seen that character played before. Maybe it's the same player. You're welcome to log on and page her to ask.

Before I saw it, I had read a comment here about the time jumps so I went into it knowing that was happening. I'm glad I did as it would have been confusing otherwise.

Interesting. Not that I have any desire to play Spiderman but having Peter Parker be a young black teenager in 1963 could be an interesting story. Similarly with other heroes.

Having a nice default uniform look is good, but I really enjoy some of the creative stuff players have made out of their wikis.

I don't. Half the time when someone gets 'creative' I can't even see half their page because it won't fit on my screen. A wiki is supposed to be a resource but few players alter their templates with other people viewing it in mind.

@Ganymede You're making the mistake of thinking that pleasure is desirable for women. The purpose of them is to have babies. Enjoying sex is not necessary and possibly even sinful.

Why haven't @ghost and @The-Tree-of-Woe delivered our X-Men only MU yet?

No, not X-Men. Sort of. A Gifted MU. At least the general theme of it, if not set in that exact world (given we know so little).

tampons are seen as virginity stealers or the gateway to whoredom

Thank you, I'm stealing this plot concept for a horror screenplay.

I just need help coming up with a title. Revenge of the Tampon? The Cotton Menace?

Men's imaginations make for a wonderful source of inspiration.

For your enjoyment, I present Teeth.

Thanks to my American Gothic class when I went back to college, I once had to opportunity to gleefully explain vagina dentata to a classroom full of fairly sheltered and privileged students at a Catholic university. My professor was trying very hard not let his giggling show. It was great.

Vagina Dentata, what a wonderful phrase...

    • RE: Make MSB great again!

@Tempest If I recall right, @paris accused @Cupcake of stalking as well as lots of other things up to and including the assassination of JFK. After being told he was wrong on at least several issues, he just handwaved it all away and kept on going. Take it as you will.

The Catholic Church has a lot wrong with it not the least of which are its homophobic dogma and the hate speech of some of its leaders. But it also does some good that a true hate group would not.

@ghost That's a concern about every character on a game regardless of whether it's and FC, OC, gender/sexuality swapped or anything else.

That kind of player is going to turn anything into that kind of character.

Too many words for behaviors that are not just acceptable but admirable have been turned into insults - deliberately so at times. White knight. Social justice warrior,. Liberal.

By making epithets out of behavior we should be seeing more often, people are discouraging the behavior we should ideally be seeing more of. 'I should say something but I don't want to be labeled a white knight'. Or an SJW. Or a person who gives a damn but doesn't want to be denigrated.

      @Ganymede Here's the timeline. It's not definitive. http://www.marvel-1963.com/timeline

Let's see if I can summarize the highlights... It's 1964. The Asgardians recently 'came out', letting the world know they exist and not only claiming to be 'gods' but the ones from thousands of years ago.

Not long after that, the world learned aliens really exist when JFK was assassinated. By Loki. Except it turned out to be a Skrull taking his shape. Why? Because Kennedy was a long term Kree agent. Skrulls also tried taking over SHIELD by replacing agents but were stopped. The Kree are currently making life miserable for the Inhumans (who are still not out).

At this hour, that's what I can think of off the top of my head. I'll let @ixokai add more.

    • RE: Reporting Roadblocks: Denial, Fear, Shame, Guilt, Embarrassment, etc.

Tangential to what's being talked about, and more specifically prompted by a discussion on another thread which title I can't remember, we just changed our policy regarding complaints.

The 'try to resolve it yourself then come to staff if you can't' policy has been a carry over from just about all games I can recall playing on where I actually read the game policies. After bringing up changing it, we pretty unanimously decided to make it 'bring it to staff' followed by 'if you want to try handling it yourself first, great but it's not a requirement'.

So hopefully that'll remove one external roadblock. There's not a lot we can do about internal ones.

@surreality Coincidentally, 3 days ago my shoulder went into spasm. I haven't had a massage in 3 months because of the lock down and couldn't move my arm, shoulder or head without great pain. Vicodin and a muscle relaxant did little in doses that wouldn't put me to sleep and I even left work.

2 days of using a Therabeads moist heat pack worked wonders. I recommend them.

    • RE: Social 'Combat': the hill I will die on (because I took 0 things for physical combat)

@surreality That's a good example. And just like choosing what weapon you need to take down the target, you need to choose the right caliber of guy (no, not size). Does he like bears? Twinks? Jocks, frat guys, otters? Sure, you could fire a .22 at a rhino but it's not going to do much. You might make some impact but you also might need to fire a dozen shots where a single one could work instead.
