    • RE: Finding roleplay

I get my best results by straight out asking people. 'Hey, RP?' works quite well. I don't mean a general question in the OOC room though I occasionally do that too but to a specific person either using their name(s) or via page. But I'm forward that way.

Ugh, has this really already devolved into "There's no reason why anyone would want to do things other than the way I prefer"? Like. Really? No room for "different types of games have different needs" and "different types of players play in different ways"?

      Doesn't it always?

@Cupcake I concur. Sharing a set of parents? Big deal. I don't speak to my brother either as he's a rabid, far right asshole. He's toxic and I don't need that kind of person in my life.

      @Kestrel

Ok, let me try. No one's saying that's what you did nor what you would have done, because you're on a MUSH. You were saying what you could have done on a MUD. To which a number of people are saying: No, wait. We wouldn't like that no matter where it happened. Because of the reason @Lotherio gave.

    • RE: Dealing with Staff

If you want to keep playing there, lose the attitude. Then do all your communicating with staff via jobs. If the staffer is letting his dislike of you color his duties, it'll be evident and you can then file a complaint.

@faraday You know, that is actually a good idea. It could be handy to set up the exit parent to actually just note <OOC> [name] has arrived [optional: from direction]. for odrops, and <OOC> [name] has left [optional: via exit]. for osucc.

That could clear that confusion up pretty nicely, and auto-loggers designed to strip OOC comments from logs could automatically remove it as needed, provided it uses whatever the standard OOC text prefix is.

      Hell yes.

Right now, I'm in a scene that just popped up from people talking in the OOC lounge. Because people all were like. "You wanna do something?" And there's at least 3 people in this scene that my characters haven't had a chance to meet before now, but now they will.

Wouldn't it have been preferable to have that conversation on a channel though?

And there are people - like me - who usually keep channels turned off. One of the biggest things I hated about Arx was the lack of an OOC Room. And I don't even make a lot of use of them.

@surreality I just googled 'register' along with 3 different insurance companies in this area. They all had an option to use the SS# to register. And once registered, you can log in and get your #s.

If someone is on the portal in a scene, but not logged into the game, they don't show up on +where.

I mean if that's a big deal, I can add a "In Web Scene" section to +where...

With people logged on through the portal not showing on +where in scenes, you don't know who's in that scene. Maybe someone is there you're avoiding. Maybe +where shows 3 people but when you get there it's actually 7 because there's 4 portal people and it's too large a scene for you. This is one of the things I dislike about Ares.

"Why didn't these people vote?" he asked.

      Who said they didn't?

Exactly. They took the time to travel to DC (and all the other cities), stand forever, and march to protest. Almost certainly they took 10 minutes to go vote. But saying they didn't - based on no facts whatsoever - is a good way to make them not count.

@lordbelh My character's definitely an asshole, but no. This is a very SERIOUS and SINCERE complaint about Leo's TERRIBLE PLAYER.

This is one of those variations of Poe's Law where, without smileys, I can't tell if it's a serious complaint or not. The all caps kind of says not but it's not definitive.

      If it is serious, details.
