I think the better policy is to have player-end preference lists that a GM should examine before they put together a scene and run it.
That's assuming a plot is being run for specific people. Having to check the trigger list for 30 players before they develop a plot is impractical and not the GM's job. A much better idea is:
plot is announced
Player: p GM=Hey, I have an issue with ____. Is that going to come up in the plot? And if it is, they don't sign up.

RE: Evennia - a Python-Based Mu* Server
I really haven't read through this thread. I'm only a very basic coder and have no real interest in learning more. But I do have one question/comment.
Right now, literally anyone can open their own Mux and run a game. Some basic commands that are out there, build a grid, done. Cgen has always been the biggest hurdle but I once played on a game where character sheets were posted to a webpage and weren't on the game. They could also be put into a basic ¬e of some sort if you wanted. Or you could borrow someone's existing cgen and tweak it to fit your system. You didn't have to be a great coder. It didn't have to be efficient or elegant. It just had to work. But the point is, you could make a game for any genre you wanted.
With Evennia, it sound like you need to be a semi-professional programmer/game developer to make a game. And if that's the case, the hobby dies because it's built on amateur hobbyists enthusing about their favorite genre/game system/book.
So is this the case or can any GoT fanboy decide to take Evennia, install it, (and for the sake of argument borrow an existing cgen) and open a game within a a couple months?

RE: nWoD Help and Advice Thread
Dear @tragedyjones.
I'm a relatively young Ventrue who was Embraced during college. None of my friends know I died or that I'm now a creature of the night. They think I just disappeared for a few years due to a breakdown from stress (I was pre law). I still maintain contact with them for dinner and theatre dates and they don't have a clue.
My problem is that now we're in our thirties, they're starting to get married. I've already had to miss three weddings because they were scheduled for noon. My coterie says I should just break ties with them but I don't want to do that.
My question is this: a fourth friend just got engaged and they're setting the date. Should I dominate them into an evening ceremony or just resign myself to another missed wedding? Do I still need to buy a wedding gift for them if I'm not going?

RE: Separating Art From Artist
I'll like the art on its own merits, regardless of the beliefs of the creator. I will not, however, give the artist a cent of my money to support them and their offensive beliefs. Orson Scott Card comes to mind and I regret ever buying his books. I'd pirate Ender's Game instead.

RE: A Post-Mortem for Kingsmouth
@JustNobody It's time to unfriend RFK and change your relationship status. Delete the contact info from your phone and erase that last recorded message. No one wants to hear how you've been spoiled forever for all other games. It's time to move on.

People were panic shopping. They do this for storms too. Oh there's going to be a blizzard (that people live through every year) wipe out the stores of their stock and replenishment.
I went to the supermarket Friday. There wasn't any meat on the shelves. No chicken, no pork, not beef. Not even the cuts that are over $10.99/lb
I went shopping right before Hurricane Irene and then Hurricane Sandy the following year. It was business as usual. This is unprecedented./

Sometimes mods are okay
I learned this when I installed the mod to Dragon Age: Origins which lets you be in a same sex relationship with Alistair. Cause Alistair is the best boyfriend.

@Wretched I take solace in the article I recently read that states an appreciation for black humor indicates a higher than average IQ.

RE: Does size matter? What about duration?
Does a pose respond to mine and give me something to work with? If so, I"m happy. That's all I really care about. And honestly, if someone is waxing poetic, chances are I'm not reading most of it. I don't care much about description. I skip over most of it in novels too. I want the meat. I'll probably skim it to see if there's anything important there but it simply doesn't hold my interest.
In exactly the same way, I prefer to see a pic of your character instead of reading your desc.

I found out today while doing some cleaning of my place that I own 27 pairs of shoes. I hadn't exactly been keeping count.
That's officially past my previous record that I had when I was in my early 20s and gave away my old collection. I swore I wouldn't get back into this.
The fuck is wrong with me.
Properly accessorizing is one of the key things that you have to take seriously upon becoming an adult.
Or something.
I dunno man just go with it.
Like, go on Etsy and buy different face masks so they match your outfit.

RE: RL things I love
@Ganymede said in RL things I love:
It means that if an employer takes an adverse action against you based on your sexual orientation or gender identity you have a federal cause of action.
If an employer doesn’t hire you because you’re gay, you can sue. If an employer fires you because you’re a lesbian, you can sue. If an employer refuses to promote you because you are transgender, you can sue.
That’s a layman’s version.
It also opens the door to making illegal all other forms of discrimination based on sexuality or sexual identity such as housing.

@Auspice Threaten to plaster every social media you can find reference to them with negative comments and complaints if they don't leave you alone.
