@faraday You know, that is actually a good idea. It could be handy to set up the exit parent to actually just note <OOC> [name] has arrived [optional: from direction]. for odrops, and <OOC> [name] has left [optional: via exit]. for osucc.

That could clear that confusion up pretty nicely, and auto-loggers designed to strip OOC comments from logs could automatically remove it as needed, provided it uses whatever the standard OOC text prefix is.

      Hell yes.

    • RE: Does size matter? What about duration?

Does a pose respond to mine and give me something to work with? If so, I"m happy. That's all I really care about. And honestly, if someone is waxing poetic, chances are I'm not reading most of it. I don't care much about description. I skip over most of it in novels too. I want the meat. I'll probably skim it to see if there's anything important there but it simply doesn't hold my interest.

In exactly the same way, I prefer to see a pic of your character instead of reading your desc.

Also, I like kilts. Have you seen John Barrowman in a kilt?

Ok, let me try. No one's saying that's what you did nor what you would have done, because you're on a MUSH. You were saying what you could have done on a MUD. To which a number of people are saying: No, wait. We wouldn't like that no matter where it happened. Because of the reason @Lotherio gave.

Any rejection H and I experience (e.g., C may ICly say, 'How dare you intrude! Go away!') would not be taken as any kind of affront because IC is IC. It would, however, give H and I something to work with in terms of, 'oh, I guess the villagers here don't like us', and RP is still RP.

The problem is, the objection to your joining at that time was not in any way IC. You'd have been welcomed. The reasons were purely OOC: the scene would have been too large for some people. It's difficult to keep track of and it also makes scenes longer.

I find it hard to believe that this is never a problem on MUDs.

    • RE: Cultural differences between MUDs and MUSHes

Why not start another scene? Maybe because you want to play with those other people? Either there are things to RP about or you've never met before and want to. Could be new to the game/character and want to get settled. Could be a bunch of reasons. Now if said hypothetical people NEVER started their own scenes, that's different.

      So, The Preacher.

I don't know the comic and I'm not a fan of 90s Iron Age to begin with. But it came after FtWD so I watched it. I left me pretty uninterested. How did those of you who were looking forward to it like it?

It's a bit awkward to use after being so familiar with Mux but Penn's channel system has some nice features. It's great being able to target a single channel or them all at once and @chan/gag is great. I don't need to shut off every channel individually and have @adisconnect turn them back on so I don't forget.

As far as playing goes, the two are very similar and easy to adapt to. Now MOO? I won't even try.

Having a nice default uniform look is good, but I really enjoy some of the creative stuff players have made out of their wikis.

I don't. Half the time when someone gets 'creative' I can't even see half their page because it won't fit on my screen. A wiki is supposed to be a resource but few players alter their templates with other people viewing it in mind.

@tangent You can have a copy. I doubt it'll work as is on Penn since the code isn't the same as Tinymux but it shouldn't be too hard for a coder to adapt.

What logging code that all the game use? I would like to see this.

It's the logger code I wanted to use on Eldritch and sent you after I got it from Darkspires, the same that CoMux uses now (and got from Darkspires). The code would need to be adapted to Penn.

Glad it's not going to be FATE. There's no system I hate more and won't play on a game with it. Penn isn't horrible, it just takes some getting used to.

Interesting. Not that I have any desire to play Spiderman but having Peter Parker be a young black teenager in 1963 could be an interesting story. Similarly with other heroes.

@tangent So all the canon heroes will still exist but their BGs will need to be rewritten to fit the new era? Is anything else about them alterable?

So how exactly is that going to work? In canon, most Marvel heroes weren't around in 1960.
