Ah, that makes sense. The context implied something like that but I'd never heard the term before.

@macha Landlord an older guy? Sounds like he doesn't trust women to be financially responsible, which would explain things.

...but then I'm not entirely sure why your landlord is being a butt.
Assuming they're not problem tenants, and for the purpose of this argument we'll assume that, what's the only reason a landlord has to get rid of non-troublemaker renters? Money. He can probably raise the rent a lot more than he can justify for an existing renter.
ETA: Okay, there's one more reason: bigotry, whether it's against race, sexual identity, etc.

@Arkandel Where did the ignore/watch thread option go?

@arkandel I just couldn't connect and was getting some kind of proxy error.

@Auspice Also, look in a mirror every day and inspect the gum. If you see any redness, especially spreading, you need to get it done yesterday.

RE: RL Sads
Not really a sad. More of a 'What a shame.' This was a top story on BBC News front page.
Most people in the western world probably think of Ethiopia as some third world shithole (to quote our dear President) with no significance whatsoever.
When I worked in a coin store, I had gold and silver coins from Ethiopia from almost two thousand years ago. The Kingdom of Aksum/Axum was a large, powerful, wealthy Empire that built castles and obelisks and had extensive trade.
It is said that the Queen of Sheba came from Aksum, romanced King Solomon and gave birth to a son of his which is the beginning of the Jews in Ethiopia. Haile Selassie supposedly traced his lineage back to Solomon and Sheba.
It's not just a shame to see the once great country in such dire straits but that it's been forgotten even though it existed alongside Egypt and Rome. It's worth reading about.

RE: RL things I love
@silverfox I was looking at the roasting pan and considering just throwing it away and getting a new one next time. But even with a disposable, there's still the clean up from making the brining solution and the stuffing. Granted, those aren't too bad but it all adds to the experience.

RE: RL things I love
Made myself the best turkey ever. I absolutely rock turkeys which is good since I'll be eating it for 2-3 weeks. I'd happily make a turkey every month if someone else cleaned up. Gods but I hate cleaning.

... and the Agent's story is SO GOOD that if I can stomach the playstyle I'm playing an agent. ^^
Agreed. The Agent's story is excellent and my favorite of the non-Force User classes. Personally, I'd rate them:
Sith Inquisitor
Sith Warrior
Jedi Knight
Jedi ConsularImperial Agent
Smuggler
Bounty Hunter
Trooper. -

The next question is should I look up some sort of guide on classes to get the best experience from KOTOR? Or can I play through and not cripple my self by basic bad choices?
I'd read up on the character creation options since which ones you choose affect the numbers of powers/skills/feats you get. (I think I got those right.) Each of the 3 options is stronger in one of them. It definitely affects play so pick the one whose play style you enjoy the most. You can't cripple yourself regardless but the style is different.

@Misadventure I just played KOTOR and KOTOR 2 for the first time ever about 4 months ago. This is what got me into SWTOR.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@BetterNow It's now free to play from start to finish. There's not all the options that subscribers have but those are mostly cosmetic such as choice of race which doesn't affect game play. There's also the preferred option which is what you are permanently once you've spent any amount of money, even a buck. Preferred gets more options than free.

RE: General Video Game Thread
@Arkandel While I pretty much do exactly as @Sunny said and play solo, I'm also a member of a very active guild. They do regular raids, operations, hunts, etc. When I was leveling one of my guys, I twice won a prize from the guild bank for highest weekly conquest points (3rd and 5th places) and there are regular mailings of upcoming stuff.
When I was looking for a guild originally and asked for an invite in response to an on channel recruitment emit, I was quizzed about my RP intentions and whether I was planning to be active in the guild (they were specifically an RP heavy guild). I honestly don't see how anyone can RP in that tiny window but hey, more power to them.
So the guilds can be very active if that's what floats your boat.
