@tinuviel Yeaaaaaaaaaaah, blanket changes to rules that were blatantly made to benefit her/her friends' characters being applied blanket didn't make them any less wrong. Breaking the theme and rules to suit yourself isn't made better because you let everyone do it, it just makes it more broken as fewer and fewer people follow the actual theme and rules. There's a reason both of those games sank like the Titanic. People got tired of their shit being invalidated by her whims.

@Auspice I'm positive they don't. Because every time, I mention 'oh the directions are on the notes' they immediately go 'oh' and hang up. AND LO AND BEHOLD, my food arrives like 90 seconds later.
@kk This is why I sorta like Arx's approach. Staff get access to staff NPC's. These are extremely powerful characters that come from races/backgrounds that players cannot access. They have powers and abilities beyond anything players can access (currently, at least). But they are meant to be limited playtime. So like... if Staff 1 runs NPC A/B/C and decides they feel up for some RP, they can step into an NPC and reach out via messengers, show up randomly in events or on grid. They can scratch that RP itch, maybe throw a plot seed or something in with it, and they don't have to worry about needing xp to build their character. Their characters are already pretty much the pinnacle of their chosen fields.

Which really just goes to show that not one of those 20,000 so-called Christians watched even a single episode of Good Omens before determining that its 'promoting satanism' and 'needs to be stopped'. Probably for the children.
@tinuviel If someone is harassing you on an alt, you need to say something. Enforce those boundaries, and if someone continues to step out of line, make sure staff enforces them. Secrecy is rarely GOOD for a game. And yes, Arx has its issues, nobody has denied that. But you also can't deny that staff there have at least taken large strides in the right direction. There, if you want to avoid someone, you can list yourself as IC-Only and you can't be contacted OOCly on game. You can also watch/hide so you don't show up as online to folks. You can put in No Contact requests through staff, and if that order is broken, now you have evidence to take to them for punitive action. They've made it harder than ever for stalkers, harassers, and general assholes to last on the game. That staff has actively posted multiple multiple times saying 'please tell us if bad things are happening' is a great step.
This isn't to say there aren't cliques and exclusion happening, there is. I don't think it will be possible to ever get fully rid of them. But mitigation is possible. Creating workarounds helps. This new Story Coordinator thing is a step in that direction. It won't matter as much of Player A will only ST for her friends because now your org's SC can put out a call for an ST of whatever level you need. Things aren't perfect on Arx, but they're heading in a better direction than any other game in the past 15 years that I can recall.
@sunny Finding out that Microsoft bought BlizzAct actually made me interested in possibly returning to D3/WOW in the future. And has me newly interested in D4!

@silverfox My son is high-functioning, so he was deemed 'okay' to be kept in remote learning. Great. Except the reason they put him in classes with additional teachers is because he is unable to self-focus. So there was always someone to help steer him back on track when he started to drift. Only now, there's noone to pull him out of the drift. I'm working all day, there's no other parent in the household.
So now he's failing many of his classes and his teachers keep wanting to text and email me during the day, regardless of how many times I've told them I work 10 hour days and can only really respond on Thursdays (day off), telling me how many assignments he hasn't turned in while I sit here and go "Well no shit! Look at his IEP where he needs someone to help physically redirect him back on task!"

Admittedly, the idea of Dreams/Nightmares gaining a level of sentience or personality really kind of draws me to like... 1930's Midwest/Southwest (which could potentially include Las Vegas). Basically a time and place where people had more dreams and/or nightmares than they had food or money. Which, realistically, pushing it forward to post-apoc could easily see much the same situation. But I do love the whole Route 66 area, up into Nevada. Or just... Middle America. Where you can literally drive for three hours on a straight road and STILL wind up wondering if you're even getting anywhere because its just... all the same, everywhere you look.
I apparently either don't look at people at all, or I have a creepy dead-eye stare mixed with resting bitch face. So... y'know, I tend to go for not looking at people. Its the lesser of two evils.
